    No mention of goat, sheep or buffalo milk and cheeses. A big sales pitch for her website and course. Check labels for sodium and phosphorus…

    I make our own almond/oat milk, noting else added. Soak 1/4 c almond flour, 1/4 c oat flour (grind oats in a coffee grinder) pug in a large mouth qt canning jar, fill halfway with cold water. Stick it in the fridge overnight. Next am I use a stick blender on high, add more cold water while blending almost to the top. Done, there will be a bit of slurry at the bottom, just pour if in your cereal

    Thank you for educating us. My right kidney was injured many years ago (it was cut in half). I learned it is no longer functioning. So other nutritional values are helpful.

    Based on this video, I went out and bought the rice milk that was recommended here; Rice Dream Original. I trusted that it was free of phosphorus additives as claimed here at about 5:01 and so did not read the ingredients list.
    It turns out there is tricalcium phosphate right there on the list! I was careful to make sure I got the original formula too.
    To be more than fair, I see that she did recommend reading labels in the video but did she? Maybe they changed the ingredients?

    Thanks very much for all your information about the milk. I was just going to ask if coconut milk is ok on Kidneys and it popped up. I am changing my diet due to Kidney issues. egfr was 59 and creatinine 93 when they checked through blood tests. Also can you please let me know if coconut is ok too. I would think it would be since coconut milk is ok. I use coconut in my baking and just today used it in my tea so thinking to swich to coconut cream in my drinks and cooking. Thanks

    Kirkland Organic Oat Organic Non-dairy Beverage does not have any PHOS showing on the ingredients label. Calories 120. Sodium 95 mg. Protein 3g. Potassium 50mg. Flavor - reminds me of the scent of the paste we used in elementary school way back in the 1960's. We only use it as a milk substitute for recipes. I much prefer the Silk almond milk.

    Homemade oat milk has oats and water, and it's a bit slimy, but hard to beat for a frozen blueberry smoothie of a morning. :) Thanks for the info!

    Isn't almond milk high in oxalates or is that just the nut?

    • @kidneyfoodie
      @kidneyfoodie  Рік тому +2

      Yes, almond milk is high in oxalates. This study found one cup of almond milk had 27.1mg of oxalate. www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8611107/

    I just wanted a quick answer, not a lecture on all available milk products. But thanks.
