Why? Because when you used a nitro this resulted in two effects: 1) the other racers gained a speed boost immediately too 2) the other racers max speed got bumped a little bit (or yours got lower?) so each time you used a nitro you gained almost nothing and you actually were making your race harder. it was useful only when you were close to finish (so no loses from max speed difference) and your opponets were in a situation when getting a speed boost was unwelcomed (just before a turn, or simply when they got stuck). MCII was also hard because if opponets were far away - they havent had all the traffic to deal with - traffic was only around you. So all the "collect the checkpoints in any order" races were extra hard too.

Just started playing this game again after so many years, such a great game. Rockstar did a phenomenal job, made me really appreciate the games we had growing up. The models of cars, types of races, customization etc.
Absolutely my favorite racing series’s I’ve ever picked up. Midnight club 3 was the first and got me into racing games now. I put so many hours into this game as a kid, the soundtrack was amazing, and the local multiplayer was a good way to play with your friends and family.
I remember when I played this game for the first time. In a Christmas it was my gift. A ps2 and a combo of GTA San Andreas x Midnight club 3 dub edition remix. Actually the best gift ever in my life and also in my childhood. Thanks for the nostalgia dude. :')
Goooood times. I remember playing this when I was mid-highschool, real high on the hormones as I am hitting puberty. I remember my little brother and I taking turns racing these games, eventually finishing almost all the citoes, and I recall spending most of my Christmas break finishing off Tokyo Challenge. The soundtrack is powerfully nostalgic as it was the hayday of rap, punk rock, and I even got into the techno genre because of this game! And since I was starting to cope with my edgelord phase, I remember just customizing the cars to give it all a black colored matte/pearlescent hue with blue glowlights or decals and even giving them names. My favorite was the Lamborghini Gallardo, named Black Mamba, and the White Rider, a Class A motorcycle. Both I just loved using. I miss the blurring of the screen due to the speed, the soundtrack, and those events where you could win AN ACTUAL CAR. I'm now nearing my 30's, and the memories just came gushing back. The times where I didn't care about life, and skimping classes, and just wanting a taste of that speed offered by Midnight Club. Now I'm an adult handling a team and worrying about bills. Thanks for reminding me I'm old.
Your comment hits right in the feels man. Bought this game in 2007 aged 16. Didn't know a thing about it, just loved racing games. 16 years later, still play it and it's one of my favourite games ever. Midnight Clubs: L.A. Edition will be my favorite, me and my older sister always enjoyed it, it was fun and awesome, races were challenging, but not too hard, that it became frustrating. I never any of the other Midnight Club games, but from this video, I know they were awesome too.

The amount of time I spent on this game was insane, it was all me and my friends would talk about in primary school. When I got that Murcielago my life was complete.
My first racing game was NFS 2, which I loved a lot. Then Most Wanted, that I liked too but I think a little bit less, although the persecutions were super engaging for me. Then, years later, I played Midnight Club 3 Dub Edition on PSP and boy... that was it. The difficulty was pretty high, and I had to do millions of times the races in order to memorize some tricky shortcuts and curves while also being careful with collisions, and it was fucking awesome. Having that level of freedom on the races was extremely engaging. Specially in those races where you didn't have an order to go through checkpoints so you had to do some tries to design your own route. Damn now I need to play it again, I think it's time to play the remix version I never got to experience PS: I've been playing MC3DE Remix since yesterday and I'm so glad I started it. I was feeling a little bit sad, but after 200+ hundred resets on the first city I'm simply devoid of any emotions now, since life has lost all meaning to me. Losing a race no longer infuriates me, it just sinks me one level deeper into this cold emptiness.
Exactly my feelings after failing races multiple times😂😂 And yes the degree of freedom is what engaged me the most in this game, that also made it better than all other racing games, class apart from NFS

This made it so exhilarating and put you on the edge. You had to be very disciplined the whole race. Seriously, they should be giving a degree for completion of this game 😂😂😂
The midnight club series was one of the most defining times in my life. Alongside Enter the Matrix 🤯 shit blew my mind racing, especially in MC2. My sister and I would play split screen and push every car into the LA duct areas until there were no cars around 😂😂

@@blickedxb Horizon still has way too "realistic" driving mechanics. Midnight Club was an arcade racer, more on par with Disneys Split/Second or the amazing Blur. Trust me, I like Horizon and think it's an awesome game... But it's not even close to driving the same as a lot of the arcade racers from 2-3 console generations ago.
@@blickedxb i have over 300 hours on forza horizon 4 and let me tell you it's not even close to midnight club 3.
This game had THE BEST soundtrack. I always refer to this game when it comes to great racing games.
That and NBA Street Vol 2 were my top 3 games of all times Vice City being number 1
From the customization, to how rewarding every race was to it being one of the first racing games that you actually had to have a car from each class to do certain events was what made it versatile and great.
Customization in MC III also kills GT7 by a lot.
This is my favorite racing game of all times, brings me back good memories.
I would love to have a Midnight Club 3 Remastered.
I remember getting the game as a gift, and knowing nothing about the series. I played it A LOT because of how customisable the vehicles were, and the actual driving aspects felt just right.
Played this hours!!!! never finished it, i was a small kid :D What i remember, is that it was great to have a choice to go where you want in the races. The races with just 2 or 3 chackpoints.... on the other side of the city..... made me rage, but i loved it. Then the random chackpoints that did not show you were to go.... MAN!!!!! that was tough. But it made me focus and lurn the raceses. I felt like a real street racer, in real life there where no barriers when you would do a street race. I realy love this game! I wish whey would do a remaster
This game…. My childhood… right in the feels.
Just started playing this game again after so many years, such a great game. Rockstar did a phenomenal job, made me really appreciate the games we had growing up. The models of cars, types of races, customization etc.
Rockstar Games in 2000s are GOATED. More so than Polyphony Digital in 2020s.
Absolutely my favorite racing series’s I’ve ever picked up. Midnight club 3 was the first and got me into racing games now. I put so many hours into this game as a kid, the soundtrack was amazing, and the local multiplayer was a good way to play with your friends and family.
Loved every second of this game, The new generation will never understand how good it was for the time.
Burnout, midnight club, nfs, and Gran Turismo will always be nostalgic for me.
For me, all of above but with Blur, split/second and Grid
Racers used to be the headliners. Crazy how times change.
@@MyManJFKTV Agreed
Anybody remember split second?
Anybody remember juice ? Lol
Hell yeah lol I’ll never forget the soundtrack
Your comment hits right in the feels man.
Bought this game in 2007 aged 16.
Didn't know a thing about it, just loved racing games.
16 years later, still play it and it's one of my favourite games ever.
Been working for 8 years now but haven't changed much in terms of me time and enjoying things I did back then.
This game has been part of half my life and I'll always cherish it
Same here,
My game was exhilarating and the best racing game I've ever played.
Man I loved the Midnight Club games. They are the ones that really got me into cars and racing. Growing up with 3 then getting MC L.A. with friends was amazing. I still emulate 3 now and then :P
Midnight Club LA: Complete Edition! I remember getting online and finding other players... We would all go to an intersection and park in a circle and do burnouts, bounce and it was really fun.
How do you emulate it
@@erenyeager3657 3 you'll need an ISO for what ever console you want. Then the emulator for said console. Pcsx2 for PS2. Ppsspp for PSP. Mcla would be Xenia. But you'll need a necent system to run them. Mine struggles.
@@XspunturboX RPCS3 runs MCLA on a phat pc. Xenia doesn't.
@@CLOYO ill have to try it. havent gotten my pc to handle any thing on rpcs3 :P
As a San Diegan this game was definitely a favorite. Cool to see a bunch of local landmarks in a game with cool cars.
Driving by the zoo , petco park and sea world was so crazy !!
I used to LOVE playing this game as a kid. Especially the music was so damn good and brings up nostalgia every time. So sad to see that there won't be another game... yet?
This game is the source of my Lotus Elise obsession. I wish dub edition remix would get a remaster. I still have the working game and console but I want my online friends to share the experience with me
That was my fave too, along with the Srt4, the best starter 💛
I remember the hours and hours I spent playing this on the psp. If they continued the series and made a new one today I would buy it immediately. I used to use the Chrysler 300c for everything. Miss this game, it’s the reason I’m addicted to the forza horizon series.
Midnight Clubs: L.A. Edition will be my favorite, me and my older sister always enjoyed it, it was fun and awesome, races were challenging, but not too hard, that it became frustrating.
I never any of the other Midnight Club games, but from this video, I know they were awesome too.
I've played all of them , MC LA is the pinnacle of the series , always my favorite ...I was always so impressed you could customize the interiors of the vehicles! Still a gem of a game to this day
The amount of time I spent on this game was insane, it was all me and my friends would talk about in primary school. When I got that Murcielago my life was complete.
90s babies really got the best of everything as far as entertainment goes
everytime i see footage of this game, Mannie Fresh's "Real Big" plays in my head
No lies in this comment
Fuckin’ Classic! Thank you for this 💯
I remember playing this on my psp! Best racing game I’ve ever played in my life till this day
I love when you guys do throwbacks like this, especially late 1990’s early 2000’s which is when I was a kid. Super fun to watch! 😊🙌🔥🤩
I also loved the Open Ended races we need more games with the flair checkpoint system I like that a lot more than wall to wall.
That was the first racing game I spent a ton of time playing online and it was a blast!
Same!
The video we’ve all needed. Midnight club 3 was the goat 🐐
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
One of the racing games I put countless hours into back when I was a teen on my PS2.
Still good to play today. Just add an HDMI Port to the PS2 and you can play it in HD 👍🤜🤛
No other game captured the luxury tuning scene for suv’s and sedans like midnightclub
This is my favorite racing franchise. I want another one so bad!
Same here. This game and Los Angelas were amazing.
PS gamer?
@@blickedxb yes sir
Still one of the best racing games I've played till this day. Recently replayed it on an emulator just a few months ago
I was thinking about doing that myself.
What emulator?
How well did it play?
Does it still hold up?
@@nicholassullivan1239 I played it on PSP Emulator (PPSSPP) and it ran flawlessly at 60FPS.
@@nicholassullivan1239 you could also use pcsx2 , if you got a graphics card it could look top notch
I played it on PSX2 & it was great! Oly played MC2 back in the day
where do you get your roms i cant find shit nowadays without malware
Damn now I need to play it again, I think it's time to play the remix version I never got to experience
PS: I've been playing MC3DE Remix since yesterday and I'm so glad I started it. I was feeling a little bit sad, but after 200+ hundred resets on the first city I'm simply devoid of any emotions now, since life has lost all meaning to me. Losing a race no longer infuriates me, it just sinks me one level deeper into this cold emptiness.
Exactly my feelings after failing races multiple times😂😂
And yes the degree of freedom is what engaged me the most in this game, that also made it better than all other racing games, class apart from NFS
@@vasudev6960 it was, still, a great experiece. Not only I enjoyed the incredible free driving, races and soundtrack, but I also got to master nihilism. I'm sure that if I tell any college that I completed MC3D3 Remix they would directly give me a degree ln either philosophy, psychology or both
@@OscarIna0fTimeVODs i know right, but too bad Rockstar killed this series, now i have to play the same old boring NFS that has zero difficulty in terms of races.
This game had that corridor of uncertainty where anything can happen in a race, you could be thousand miles ahead in pole position and still there is a chance that you might lose. This made it so exhilarating and put you on the edge. You had to be very disciplined the whole race.
Seriously, they should be giving a degree for completion of this game 😂😂😂
I used to play the PSP version of this everywhere I went!
Bro yes! I had both versions, then both MCLA versions. Loved it so much. This made 7th grade so lit when it came out
God i miss that game. They do a remake and id buy it in a heartbeat
midnight club still cancelled soz
The midnight club series was one of the most defining times in my life. Alongside Enter the Matrix 🤯 shit blew my mind racing, especially in MC2. My sister and I would play split screen and push every car into the LA duct areas until there were no cars around 😂😂
👌
Thanks for mentioning enter the matrix that was an awesome game. Hugely underrated title for the ps2
5:43 That actually helped "soften" the graphics a little and make it look better.
I played Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition I think one time. I remember it had weird handling. Need for Speed: Underground already existed and I liked that better
The music was what made the midnight club series so memorable for me, every track worked so well with the pace of the game
Don’t forget the soundtrack 🔥
Here after Nijigasaki NEXT SKY SEASON 3 OVA. 2023, still waiting for the remaster of the legendary Midnight Club 3 DUB EDITION!
Fuckin love this game. I still catch myself thinking of it. Wow, good choice for a video.
I am so glad this game is getting it's time in the limelight. The soundtrack of this game was bomb!
Dub edition was so damn fun 😭
👍🏼
I played and LOVE dub edition remix, I still think the cosmetic customization is still up in the ranks of great and varied options. I played it a year or so ago and just messing around and making cars never gets old!
Thank you for still making vids about Midnight Club. Hopefully this builds traction and makes rockstar make another Midnight Club again
Shoot they can just give me a remaster of this and I'll be fine.
This is a game worthy of release on new consoles no need to remaster just make it playable on ps5/xboxX
This game was fucking awesome ! Rockstar needs to do this again !
Being from Detroit I LOVED the detail they put into the map. Right down to the infamous Turtle Graffiti
Back when R* made more than 2 games...
The current gaming industry is bland as fuck for the most part
Cuz midnight club sale is pretty low like very low compare to gta franchise, also take two now take part handling rockstar
They see where the money is and its not in racing games
I'd love to see a Manhunt 3 but in today's fragile PC world that'll never happen. They'll just release GTA5 27 more times
This on PSP literally blew my mind.
I just got an emulator bc I wanted to try this game, I played it for a while and I frickin love it
It was the soundtrack and the car customization … putting huge rims on old school cars was a plus
Probably one of my most played games ever.
This and Need for Speed Underground 2 were basically ALL I played in the early PS2 days.
We need a remastered Rockstargames
This was indeed an amazing racing game. My favorite race mode in this game was the one where the finish line is set on the other side of the city and you will need to find the shortest path to get there. I forgot what it was called.
Well, it still called Ordered Race in MC 3. In MC LA they classified it into Landmark Race
@@m.raihanammarfachrezixpplg7898 ordered race is the one with set checkpoints.
The one I'm saying only has the finish line set on the other side of the map. And you are free to choose which path to take to get there, but ideally, take the shortest path if you want to win.
@@newuserO1191O Yeah I know that, but it still named as Ordered Race. Then, it changed to Landmark Race in LA
@@m.raihanammarfachrezixpplg7898 aahh I see. Now that you mention it is still called ordered race, I do remember this now. The first time I started this race, I thought my game bugged because I could not see the other checkpoints.
@@newuserO1191O I don't feel same, but it still makes sense lol
This is my favorite racing game of all time, the menu music is just awesome, is there any similar modern game that you guys recommend?
Loved this game, so many memories, pulling all nighters with the brother and cousins, wish we could get a PC remake or something!
I loved this game and played it with my neighbor so much, I remember we were neck and neck towards the end of a race and I used Roar to shove the other cars out of the way
This game had a lot of things going for it, the music, the cities, all feels so well put together. Moving to the cities and meeting those new local mechanics, heading out of the garage for the first time, drafting behind an opponent to boost over the others to win in the last second.. lol, Nostagia.
Agree. MCIII and LA nailed everything.
Even Los Angeles was pretty enjoyable! My favourite part was playing my own music while racing around. But yeah, dun edition holds a special place in my heart.. So many good memories.. Cmon rockstar give us another one!
I can’t believe I had this game, never knowing what dub was.
Had this on Xbox when I was a kid, and I always thought the graphics on this looked great. I can’t remember where I played LA remix, but I remember that was my favourite.
I kinda hope they reboot this series, but at the same time, don’t want them to ruin the memories
Well, I think LA Remix was a PSP version of LA on console. It has MC 3 mechanics with LA themes, so I wouldn't suprise if this was your favorite
I remember playing this on Xbox it looked amazing Plus we had one Of the early LCD TVs. So I was gaming in wide screen early on. It looked amazing back then. It still looks amazing on my android handheld to this day upscaled in resolution.
Legendary game. LA remix was my fave but this one was THE OG
I remember having it for my PSP, and what I loved was the portability of being able to play that game anywhere.
