Thanks for the reaction. This song was the first non-Nightwish song I heard with Marko and now it's one of my favorite songs with his voice and bass. It's a really beautiful ballad, I especially love the lyrics.

The first song from this concert Crows Fly Black is an absolute banger and my favourite Tarot song.

This was a first listen for me, but not the last for sure.
I always thought this song was about Tarja after he kicked her out of the band. I hope their reunion doesn't end in her tears again. Marko changed his mind too quickly about the "Finnish princess" he mentioned. She is too good and trusting. An the men in Nightwish have a special ability to hurt her.
I know he also called her that in the book that came out in 2017, so it probably got into print before they both reconciled on Raskasta Joulua. But it's been a few years now and I think Marko and Tarja talked to each other and it helped them understand and forgive each other. I don't remember him speaking ill of her since then. I believe Marko cares about her, you could see it when he comforted her on stage a few weeks ago when she was crying. And I also believe that Tarja is not as naive as some people think. She can take care of herself. And Marko is no embodiment of evil. Things are not black and white. He also changed his mind about Nightwish's management.

Hey now, Marko never had the authority in Nightwish to decide who's in or out (he could give his opinions like every other member). He how ever has always had the balls to say things outloud that people don't wan't to say, but are thinking already, that's a totally different thing. And Marko has had a lot of years to think about things and change his opinions on them and in the last few years he's had some intense therapy and mental health medications!
People change, especially when they were "not well" mentally during the past "issues" and have since gotten treatment.
So, the following is just me getting carried away with some thoughts I've had on the subject... 😊 it got long, sorry!

I highly doubt how much Tarja would have known or understood how mentally ill (on top of the alcoholism, which is also considered an ilness these days) Marko has been and was the whole time they were in the same band... It's likely that once they both had more objective distance on how things went "back in the day" and found that Marko, as Tarja has said, is a totally different guy these days and that she has changed also (years, therapy, right medication and a stable marriage will change a man) it's easier for them both to talk and connect as (much more stable) adults who clearly have always liked singing with together. From there it isn't a big leap to actual friendship.
I haven't seen Marko mention telling to the band much of his health problems back in the 2000's (on the contrary he mentions, in his bioghraphy for example, a few times about NOT telling people about serious stuff "pre Floor joining"), that he had seriously considered ending himself (more than once..), of the anti-depressants, that he got bad chest pains around 2007/08 and the doctor said it was basically stress and things could turn life threatening if he couldn't relax etc.
Marko has now (in his mid to late 50's!) finally been in proper consistant therapy, (only after he left Nightwish) and it's been more than 25 years ago, when he got his first depression and self destructive thoughts. He did get some help and meds back then, but it was the 90's... it was enough to keep him alive, but not help longterm. They only started to treat his adhd in 2021, which finally helped with his life long anger/frustration (he's always had feelings of alienation, worthlesness and communication issues) and anxiety issues, but his depression still needs separate medication.
I'm sure getting that therapy has helped him heal, process his life and be more rational & balanced human being (+ him getting the meds that actually help is huge).
And actually talking with Tarja about their past has obviously helped also, Marko has alluded lately that he now thinks all (or most) of the arguments back in the day were basically BS and could/ should have been talked over. Tarja would have left anyway for her solo career as that seemed to have been her plan anyway (maybe she would have still worked a bit with NW if it had been more amiable break, who knows), but there was no need for it to have turned nasty.
@@miiah7475 It was he who convinced the guys to fire Tarja, that they could do without her. He signed the letter even though he knew it would be published. Even in the book, which was published in 2017, he still holds the opinion of Nightwish. He sang the songs Bye Bye Beautiful and Master Passion Greed. He knew what he was doing and no one was holding a gun to his head. In 2017 everything changed and now he has her trust. I like his music and I wish the guy the best of luck and health and may their friendship continue. And I hope I don't see her cry over anyone from Nightwish again.
And since I believe this song is about the painful loss of a friend, I have to believe that he won't allow himself to lose her again
