I remember watching Sonata Arctica the first time in 1999 in Gothenburg. They were playing foreband to Stratovarius and Rhapsody. Sonata Arctica blew our socks off, they were so young back then and had just released their album Ecliptica. Great reaction.
Their Live In Finland and For The Sake of Revenge live are great live videos to react to. They have a new Power Metal album out in March Clear Cold Beyond. Jani who is in Insomnium was in Sonata Arctica and from Kemi. Tony, Tommy and Jani went to school together. They recently were on the same tour because Jani filled in for Statavarious's guitarist. Tony did vocals for Jani's solo album. Jani is very very underrated singer. Haunted House Jani Liimatainen. Oh that high note always.

You covered the second meaning from the woman's perspective well, but from the man's perspective, the song (imho) reflects how your inner demons--whether they be a supernatural curse, or real demons like rage, trauma, lust, materialism, substance abuse, or anything else--are apparent to the people in your life, And you must face your demons and deal with them, and cannot run from them, or else you risk destroying those you are close to. Also, your loved ones will still know and love you no matter what, and will help you if you let them, and if it's not too late.
