- Drottningholm Palace, the Swedish King’s residence, is a 17th-century baroque palace near Stockholm and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Originally built for Queen Catherine Jagellonica, it became the royal family’s home in 1981. The palace features stunning interiors, formal gardens, and the historic Drottningholm Court Theatre.
Nearby, the Chinese Pavilion (Kina Slott) was a birthday gift from King Adolf Fredrik to Queen Lovisa Ulrika in 1753. This rococo-style building reflects 18th-century European fascination with East Asia, decorated with Chinese-inspired art, porcelain, and lacquered furniture.
The area is ideal for walks, with formal baroque gardens, an English park with natural trails, and scenic views of Lake Mälaren. Paths lead to the pavilion through lush greenery, offering a peaceful retreat.
