Im impressed that no ezone got in! Particularly the 98, I feel like that is just the perfect racquet, it does everything well.
Yeah I’ve seen the Ezone gain popularity. But all the other rackets have more high profile players using them.
It is. Ezone has been the best and top selling racket 2 years in a row now. They also have new versions for more advanced players.
Except feel good imo but that’s personal. It’s a good frame but that’s why I passed on it.
Does any one know the difference in 98 vs 100 ezone, pls share your racquet experience of the ezone's ( I am in dilemma which one to buy 98 or 100 )
@@Nikhil_G9 I own both versions and it depends what you prefer. The Ezone 100 will offer you an abundant amount of power with a sacrifice in control, where the Ezone 98 sacrifices a slight amount of relative power for far more control - you can still generate stupid amounts of power if your technique is sound however. It can also depend if you're comfortable using a 98 or 100 square inch head, the Ezone 98 does however have one of the most generous sweets spots of any 98sq head on the market. Both are very muted frames that do have a tendency to cause arm problems if you have poor technique, have a sensitive arm or string it with too high tension and a stiff poly string.
I did not expect my beloved speed MP to be number 1, fuck yeah! I partly bought this ravket because of your review btw, thanks!
Awesome! Glad it's working for you.
I am using the Wilson Blade 98 18x20. Great racket!
Luka I'm watching you from italy because I think your videos are the best in the world for tennis stuff. Great job!
Thank you very much!
I have bought a pure aero 98 last january and now i did your advices putting a leather replacement grip and lead tape on the head of the racket and the racket became more fabulous than ever! I just love her so much!
Glad to hear that!
I do hope they update the paint job on the Speed. The black and white combination is a bit boring.
Novak has to use the paint job and he doesn't like bright colored rackets
Great point about the importance of string setup In regards to 18x20’s. I’m currently hitting with a prestige pro with Weiss canon ultra cable white 17g on the mains and prince premier touch on the crosses both at 50 lbs of tension.
Yes please video about how good 18 x 20 ties can be just as spin friendly and user friendly and what strings you will suggest
The Pure Aero 98 is a good. Got some tennis elbow with it though. So I stick with the Extreme Tour. If I had to switch from the Extreme Tour, the Blade would probably be the first one on that list I would try out. Never hit one but I've always had the impression it's a racket I would enjoy playing with.
Great vid! And 100% agree with the choice for # 1 in either the stormtrooper colour-way, or full sith legend colour way. Great racquet.
Thank you!
Could be because the head team is killing it. It's the only company who has put in the work to market their racquets here in the south of Manchester.
The updated on the Speed MP 2024 was a huge improvement in my opinion, it almost felt like a completely different frame compared to the 2022 MP I use to own. The mauveability was slightly taken down a notch, but in exchange the stability, feel at impact and ability to absorb heavy contact was greatly improved. You now had a better idea of where the tip of the racquet was and it didn't flutter while hitting defensive strokes
Agree with this!
Definitely would like to see a video about 18x20 and setups for it, as I'm playing with a percept 100D :)
Are you enjoying it? I have a Ezone 100 and I feel the need of some control and feel, and I was thinking the 100d would fit
Lol 100d's 18*19
I have a 100D and I think it will satisfy what you are looking for. I have demoed a few of the Ezone iterations and found them lacking in control and feel. Give the 100D a try, you may like it. Good luck @@filipepaivaesousa9105
I have the 100D and I think it will satisfy what you are looking for. I demoed the Ezone 100 and found it lacking in feel and control. The Percept will not give you as much free power and has a lower launch angle. Directional control is awesome. Give it a shot. Good luck 👍
@@ilips6588 I know, but a 18x20 setup should still be closer to the 100D‘s 18x19 than a 16x19 I think
I loved the video. For sure I didn’t expect the speed to be no.1 but for some reason it has to be, I’ll probably try it soon, and the aero 98. Keep it up Luca🎉
Thank you very much!
i dont get why everyone hates the Oreo Speed MP. I like it much better than the all black gloss
A video about 18x20 string pattern would be much appreciated, merci d'avance!
Me and my hitting group found the Speed MP to be very unwieldy compared to its peers. It felt like swinging a 🔨 and was very tough to keep up racquet head speed
I, too, felt the speed was a little dead. Went with a Boom Pro strung with a gut hybrid but eventually switched back to my Pure Drive with gut hybrid.
It's definitely a bit more sluggish than it used to be but I think that has generally helped it's stability and plow through.
I love the head speed MP, sadly I bought it just before they released the new on but I love the old one
The old one is great too!
Im currently stuck between wanting to get the Yonex EZONE 98 or the pure aero 98! I feel like its so hard to pick! Ive been playing with the pure aero 98 for the past year and I enjoy it but I also want to spice things up by getting a new racket
Hey I was wondering if you could do a review of the “team” version for the different Babolat rackets? I understand your channel is probably geared more towards experienced players, but me and my cousin have been playing pretty consistently for two years. I bought him a pure drive team recently for his birthday. I’m currently using a boost drive and want to upgrade eventually. Was planning on demoing the pure strike team, pure aero team, and the ezone light. Love the videos BTW!
Hey Luca, what do you think about Head Lynx Tour 1.20mm? Is it better than 1.25mm?
I prefer 1.25. More control and consistency.
What is your HONEST opinion of level needed to play the AERO 98 - 4.5 and above? 7UTR? THANK YOU
Casper Ruud plays with a 100 ...just sayin'
I think you will get the most out of it if you're a 4.5 at least, yes.
Def please do an 18/20 video. Seems highly underrated
what would be a nice string for a pure drive at 50lbs? i play eastern forehand and mainly add spin to a ton of my shots.
RPM Blast 17 is what I always default to in the Pure Drive.
I tried raquettes from all main brands but last 15 years only Head my choice. Head Speed and Prestige my main raquettes.
I want that 18x20 video please!
What's better blade 98 16x19 or the gravity pro. I know they are totally different from each other but I need help in selecting one. Ty
I have the two, and they are quite different... Blade 98 16x19 has more spin and it's easier to use than Gravity Pro... it's well suited for one hand backhander and has great control.. Gravity Pro is a really good racket too, but demand more, and has good amount of spin (not as Blade)... it's a 100 squared heaad, with 18x20 pattern, but very forgiving with good sweet spot... both really good frames tho... nowadays i prefer the Gravity Pro because the Blade has a more long format that for me makes me lose a bit of maneuverability, but Gravity is a little more heavier too... i hope i could help anyway lol
@@murilo3123 wasnt expecting for someone to reply on this but thank you, it was really helpful and i might be going for the gravity. really thank you
Well I think people are missing on 18x20. It’s a different racket, way more feel, control not necessary that you lose power, stability, comfort. As you said, with the right setup, thinner string etc… nothing beats it
I'll definitely talk about this in the video.
Hi there, I am wondering if anyone here could help me out. I currently use a Head Extreme MP, and really enjoy playing from the baseline and playing with a lot of top spin. I love the racket but i do find it hard to control a little bit - particularly if i want to flatten out my shots a bit. What rackets are there out there that are similar to my current one that wont take too long to adjust to, but might offer a tad more control. Thanks, Sam
Try the Wilson Blade 100. A touch more control but still similarly well-rounded playability.
how does the speed mp compare to the radical mp?
Quite different rackets. I prefer the Speed as I find it feels more solid/spin-friendly.
It's really hard to find a racket. I have tested so far: pro staff team, too hard. percept 100, didn't feel good when swinging. gravity mp (because of luca) balls into the net, but ok. Clash v2 lots of balls that are too long, especially the backhand. Pure strike, felt hard, Blade 98l, felt good but too light. Do you have tipps for me? How long should you play a racket before you realize it's that one? I'm in transition from beginner to average.
Blade 98
After play testing the Tecnifibre T-Fight... I don't understand how they don't get more love.
It's pretty crazy how underrated that stick is. AC tennis goated that stick and he's the premier UA-cam reviewer
as expected overall, all-time best sellers and modern (more rounded) control rackets
me too, impressed that no ezone in top 5
and yes, let's talk about how good 18x20 is next time
The Ezone is close. I may do 6-10 soon because that's arguably even more interesting.
To be fair, it's obvious that it's Sinner who boosted the speed mp and not Djokovic
My thought exactly. Sinner plays with an old Radical painted to look like a Speed though.
No it's an old speed...not that far from the actual speed..nole's playing with an old radical mold..
Do a best selling strings, and maybe best selling strings + racquet combos. Really curious about that. Nice video btw.
Definitely something I'm trying to work into the schedule.
yeah, a 18x20 video will be great !!!
Agree with the response here!
18x20 user since about 2009. I used 16 x 19 mostly from about 2000 until then. I had come off a major arm injury in 2010 and wasn't able to play with stiff frames in the aftermath unless the twistweight was high. When I say stiff, I mean 67 RA and up. My arm is most comfortable around RA 62-63; the downside is lack of power. Speed MP? top players sell racquets. I don't know if players stick with them.
What would you say is the best racquet for touch shots, maybe a top 5 list
Luca! Got an interesting question for you (hope you see this as I'm likely not alone) - Picked up my tennis racket again after a long hiatus, 2004, pushing me out of my comfort zone catching back up to what tennis racquet makes sense to me now in these generalized groupings of speed, control, power. Since all I've known is competitve tennis as a young teenager to which tech was just starting to be introduced (I used a Head Intelligence i.extreme racquet which has almost 0 information on it). Playing with it now, feels like I'm throwing a ball with no ball in hand!
I would treat the demo process as a blank canvas! Try a bit of everything since you don't have much of a preference yet. I don't know much about that racket either but maybe start with the current Extreme.
Wow... I stopped playing at around 2000 too, not that I'm already a good player then. And I used my father racket, which maybe the same one as yours, head intelligence extreme. And yes, it felt too much power.
So i tried several racket that can fits me. I tried Wilson Hyper Hammer, Head Gravity, Head Boom, Head Radical, Head Speed, Yonex VCore, Babolat Pure Aero and finally the Yonex Percept 100D, which is the ones that really connects to me. My second choice would be Vcore 97.
So now I used Yonex Percept 100D, and I loved the feel. And after this 3 months, I can say I improved much on my control
This goes to prove that endorsements count for like 90% of sales. Except for the pure drive which is just a real legend (despite all us tennis nerds not quite liking it)
I kind of disagree, I think all these rackets are quite good and special frames that perhaps don't have the "magic" us tennis nerds appreciate, but that's not as important as we sometimes make it out to be.
Last year about this time Precept Series launched which spun off in a separate line of not company. Is there any rhythm or logic in predicting when the latest model is launching Luca?
I don't think so, to be honest.
The speeds are so heavy
All dat kislux bags sssssoooooooo gorgeous
Speed mp 2022 or 2024?
Which one is better for a doubles player?
I would go for the 2024.
@@RacketsRunnersVancouver thanks but does not higher swing weight cause sluggishness at the net? And maybe it is more muted causing less feel at touch?
The pure aero 98 is great but it's very string sensitive and it becomes abit too much of a rocket launcher once the strings loosen, if I could restring a racket every time I played, I would definitely use it.
This is definitely true.
18x20 videooooo plz!
18x16 pattern please
Hi guys, why is it the Head Speed MP and not the Pro version? Are there any reasons?
It's much more user-friendly and well-rounded which explains the higher popularity.
Surprised not to see Wilson Shift in top 5 . Any particulars reason for that ?
Any idea when will the next pure drive coming out?
Likely sometime in 2025
Not exactly sure yet but I would guess within the next year.
What racket do you play with if you enter a comp tomorrow
The Head Boom Pro.
18x20s are awesome . Not many now. Please include some Prince 18x20. Not just a gravity love fest. won’t mind a few 18x19.
Unfortunately we don't carry Prince's top-end rackets right now.
Prince tour 100p 18/20. 305g Is the perfect ex
Well now I want a head speed mp
Recenlty shifted from a Wilson Shift 99 L to a Head Speed MP L and already considering getting the normal MP. There's just something about that racquet!
Wilson ultra is a really good racket and underestimated
I highly doubt the most modern most expensive is always King some classic rackets might just need fresh modern strings. I use a Volkl Powerbridge 10 which is the best serving/volley racket I have used after going through about 20 or so rackets this frame is about 20 years old. I forget the Model year but it was a Technifibre Tfight with Samurai paint job that was so awesome just the right amount of flex had so much feel and sprin - I miss that racket
Nice video, especially the info about how the racquets play is invaluable.
But admitting that this list reflects anything but consumers' choice is just...
No.
Endorsement beats quality, and this list is a proof of that. Only the PD as an exception made it into the list, the rest is just a superstar show of Sinner, Djokovic and Alcaraz.
The PD is just about instant support of whatever the beginner does. Helps a lot in the demo phase, the downsides show later, when ppl have bought it.
The real gems (Gravity, Percept, Ezone) are missing, only the Blade reflects some quality, but it's one of the most used racquets anyway.
I’m stuck with Head TiS6 vintage.
Gauff is very marketable and probably helped the Speed MP
Gauff uses boom line
Gauff uses a Boom paint job.
Kailua District Park!
Where it all began for me!
Wilson BLADE 100 V9 is the best....
how would you describe the power??
@@rob-bu3yw Less than Pure Aero 100, Head Extreme MP but in the same category as Speed MP - Blade 100 is slightly more controlled with better feel (for me at least). Yes i own one V8 (tested v9 as well).
Speed MP and Pro are two very different sticks. I find it odd that Head would have them in the same Speed family.
Next time please compare rackets with identical specs in one review: thickness, racket weight, head size, tension, string pattern, string material, same leather grip, stiffness, and swing weight.
As a former head speed mp user, I am sure Sinner is the reason its ranked as it is.. I questioned my decision to switch to the vcore watching him play many times ahhahaha
My new you set up is 18 20 with loose strings head speed pro
Yes!!
18x20 please
If the Head Speed MP is the best all rounder, what about the Prince AST 98 Tour??
Unfortunately I've never been able to try it.
Ezone 98 still the GOAT for me.
Sending you heartfelt smiles from my soul.
Much appreciated.
Ezone is good for spin?
Yes, very good.
I previously had Speed MP22 and recently broke my V9 Blade so I went ahead with Legend MP.
I’m really disappointed so far I think it’s totally different to MP22.
I feel like Auxetic 2.0 has totally removed the feel and made it extremely muted. It feels hitting like a paper/cardboard. Forehand side is much more erratic than 22 version . Backhand plow through has been reduced as well… Plus it’s kind of sluggish
Only thing that works well with this frame and auxetic 2.0 is return of serve and overall stability of the racket like even in stock form u don’t need to add leap tape is more stable than the 22 version. And the kick serve is quite improved.
What do u think ? About the Legend
Buy a 2022 black one.
@@ProfDrTeomanCemKadioglu don’t like. I will go back to Blade simply
I agree it's a little more muted. I'm not sure which one I prefer.
@@orestiszapranis1155 blade has less power and is less forgiving. 2022 speed mp can be customized to perfection with minimal weight at 3 and 9.
@@ProfDrTeomanCemKadioglu I had MP 22 and placed lead on 3&9. Around 340g static and 325sw. Indeed great racket but still lack of control at times ..
18 x 20 vid pls
Hey Luca, does the black glossy speed MP really has better feel than matte b/w one?
Possibly since it has auxetic 2.0
I had the 2023 Speed MP and loved it…tested the Speed MP 2024 and didn’t like it one bit…the 2024 Speed Pro felt better for me, for some odd reason, the Auxetic 2.0 really made a difference on the Speed pro…and yeah I bought the Legend version (all black looks so sexy)
They're the same
@@caw1337Speed Pro and Speed Legend are the same…but the paint job is so much better on the Legend
Speed Legend is a Pro not a MP version right? So the two rackets he compared were different in more than just the paint job!
Leather grip Luca😂
😭
U guys got no head extreme in Ameria
10:00 is there even a goat debate at this point?
Who knows...
These pro only have the mod ,the racket itself is most of the time complete different
Exactly. From my knowledge Alcaraz is basically the only one using the actual racket he endorses. The fact is - all this new technology is just a selling point. Pretty sure sinner uses a racket from 2016. For pros is about modifying a stock racket to their liking.
Where the orestige?
No Yonex at all! Shocked. I play vcore 95 but vcore, ezone and Percept all quality rackets for me.
Price bias..that's why ferraris sell less than fiats lol
@@ilips6588 Yonex quality control much better than Babolat or Wilson for sure, so get what you pay for I guess.
I think they just need to update the Ezone because that's there heavy hitter in terms of sales and it's coming time for an update.
I have the Ezone and 2 v7 Vcore 95 's and I think the quality control and workmanship is a step beyond any Wilson or Babolat for sure.
The Head Speed has increased in popularity thanks to Sinner. The Speed finally has a true endorser. We all know that Djokovic has never used a Speed or anything closer to it. He can't sell a racquet he don't use.
Sinner doesn't use a Speed either.
@@jamesbittle9789He does. Is one of the early models before graphene.
lack of ezone is criminal
Finally a Speed MP that is actually used by it's endorser.... just not the correct version.
Nope, Sinner uses an old Radical according to Tennisnerd.
@@jamesbittle9789 Think you may need to redo your research buddy.
His version is pretty awesome too...
first
I think ultra v4 100, weight it up on handle. Really do great job. Like a more powerful and more spin version of blade. I played 2 years with blade v7, can not switch to v8 and v9. Looking for more spin. Can not play PA, but easily switch to ultra v4 100 with additional weight on the handle.
I have 1. How much weight did u put in yours?
@@rcyc I weight up my blade about 15 gram. Ultra about 20 g. Mostly handle. And a little on throat.
ultra is more powerful and spinny than blade?
I'm thinking about testing the blade, but ultra sounds good too.
i would actually like to test the pure aero 98 or blade v9 18x20
Ultra V4 is not good for touch shots and is slow at net.
@@rob-bu3yw yea . Benefit from stiffer frame. I think generally better for me. My level is around 3.5 .
Your favourite racket?
I have no idea 😅
@@RacketsRunnersVancouver Ha Ha ha
Djokovic endorses but not even use this racket…
wtf bro, YONEX EZONE 98, no doubt, keep that shit of rackets in your home
Sinner is the reason for the uptick sales. Unlike Djo he’s likable. People will buy from people they think they would like on a personal level. So they are starting to associate good feelings with Head. Frankly I think Head will do so much better in sales once Djo retires and they focus on Sinner.
Is this post about the racquets or trashing NOLE the GOAT
@@solman5517 Rackets, if you'll read the post. He is the greatest to play the game AND he is unlikable. He can be both. There is a reason he's never been nominated for the Stefan Edberg Sportsmanship Award. Even his colleagues don't much like him. If you have ever watched a match of his, the crowd is normally cheering more for his opponent. I'm not arguing about his abilities on the court. I'm simply stating a fact: people buy products when people they like and admire are promoting them. There's a reason Wilson has been the top racket seller for decades and Head is not. If Federer had been using a Head and Djo a Wilson I can guarantee you Head would have been #1 for the past 20 years and not Wilson. Wilson doesn't make an inherently better product, they just chose a more likeable front man.
I'll not buy a head racket if Novak is on the cover.
Next time please compare rackets with identical specs in one review: thickness, racket weight, head size, tension, string pattern, string material, same leather grip, stiffness, and swing weight.
