I usually don't like drinking coffee but seriously Kat, these vids are the best things in life. I get so happy when they come up in my subscriptions! :)
Love that shirt Kat!!! I love watching you talk about books and make coffee. Yay!!! I saw the comment Jesse left on your last video!!! He said you make me want to start vlogging!!! He must we all must beg him!!! DO IT DO IT!!! Hahaha he has no choice now!!!😄😄😄
I'm a tea drinker but I appreciate a good cup of coffee every once in a blue moon :) Idea for another vlog: next coffee with Kat do a makeup tutorial, your eye makeup is always so lovely :)
I don't even drink coffee, but I watched this because I want to know how French presses even work and it looks cool! Idk if I'll ever convert from the occasional tea to the occasional coffee.... I think I like cold coffee more and that's the thing.
My friends and I had a tea party once and we used a Perfectea Maker for the loose leaf teas from Teavana, which is basically a single serving and a lot like the pour over Kat used for her coffee. :)
Hey Kat! Loving your vlogs! I need some advice for royalty free music to use in my videos! I'm having a hard time coming across good stuff. What do you use/recommend?
This is really fun to watch because I actually didn't know that you guys don't use french pressers that much haha! I have two in my house because my mom loves coffee, they're really handy!
It's because you used fresh ground coffee. What you could also do (if this is too much work for 3 times a day) is use the ceramic filter you us in the intro, with the fresh ground coffee and depending on the size of the thermos you use, adjust the amount of coffee you put in the filter. I come from a big coffee drinking family and for a thermos of 2 liters (I think that's about 67 fluid ounces but I'm not sure about American measurements) It's about the size of a family sized soda bottle. We use 6 to 8 scoops of coffee but we like it to be strong so adjust to your liking :)
looks like a pain compared to the pour over but if it's that good even without creamer? might be worth giving it try! awesome review! Love having coffee with you every day now!
Coffee with Niemah 1. Cold water 2. Pour in as much instant as you can stand (tea is life) 3. Add a small amount of sugar 4. ADD ALL THE CREAMER!!!!!!!!!!
I'm from Brazil, yea? And watch you marvel over black coffee was so hilarious to me! We take it that way everyday every morning! But you have to put some (not much tho) sugar in it. You get use to the strong flavor after the first 2 cups. Also, I certainly don't put that much coffee at once in a cup! You have to drink it while hot, so put just a bit in your cup and refill it later, from the thermos for maximum hotness! Hope you enjoy your black coffee more now xx
You should try with a "Moka", the Italian coffee maker! It's absolutely the best coffee ever and if you want you could add some milk and it's really amazing!
i love my french press. got my dad to teach me how to use it and clean it a while ago cuz he doesn't make coffee frequent enough. it's a pain in the ass to clean though. but LOVE the taste
That was really cool! I may have to try one of those out. Probably would be better than my little automatic makers. It looked so rich and yummy I could almost smell it!
I have no idea why I'm watching this now. It's just after 3:30 AM! Also, I don't care for coffee, but, oddly enough this video makes me really want hot chocolate. And every time I see Mr. Coffee all I can think of is that Mel Brooks movie, Spaceballs. I know this comment is totally random, but like I said, 3:30 AM!! I clearly need sleep.
i was also up at 3am watching this video and wishing i could make coffee and sure enough that morning i went out and bought a french press. so all i can say is ***** made me do it. lol
8oz. = 2 scoops, 16oz. = 3 scoops, 20oz. = 4scoops. That's how we do it at Starbucks! xD French presses are super exciting though! I generally just use mine when I'm have a 'relax' day, because it takes longer to make then my average keurig cup. It's a great treat whenever I use it. :]
Interesting. I've never heard of a french press, but then again, I'm not much of a coffee connoisseur per se. Actually, I just don't drink coffee. Never had a taste for it, but I've only had it in small amounts. Either way, congrats on the coffee experiment. You should totally do a series of videos with different types of coffee and the different makings of it. It could be fun for you and give you something to vlog about. :3
First comment here, but been a fan for a long while! I'm a new coffee drinker, only started drinking sometime last month, and loved this! I'll have to look into getting one. My current way of drinking is warm milk, chocolate or hazelnut creamer (depending which I want), then coffee and sweetener. I haven't explored beyond this much I did get a coffee at a cafe but I forgot what it was lol! I don't like the strong bitter taste, so I'm open to all suggestions for coffee :).
After watching this I'm considering getting a french presses and a coffee grinder now, my only problem is that I don't like coffee ;D. But, watching this video is seriously making me consider getting giving it another try.
I actually use my french press to make cappuccinos... the coffee is super strong and all you need is to froth the milk and it turns out heavenly!! No sugar needed!!
Yes!!!! I could not survive without my French Press. When my best friend needed a place to stay for a few months inbetween apartments he stayed at my house. When he walked in he handed me a brand new French Press and told me, "You will not be able to live without one after today." Alright time to go downstairs and use my French Press. Great video!
I love a good cup of french pressed coffee. It was definitely worth the investment! I agree with those who advised to keep the lid on the press while the coffee steeps. If I have coffee leftover, I'll put it in a mason jar and stick it in the fridge. Cold coffee for later! :)
It looks like a lot of work for a cup of coffee but I'm sure it's worth it. The flavor is probably so much better. Right now I use a keurig and my coffee is to weak.
OMG COFFEE!! I really need coffee but every time I try to use my french press it goes wrong! But I am only a first year so maybe Professor McGonagoll will make me perfect coffee with her wand. TO HOGWARTS!
I love my French press! What I do is grind extra coffee and put it in a mason jar in the fridge :) that way I don't have to grind my coffee every time I use my French press!
This looks like soooo much work for coffee. What if you're super tired early in the morning and you need it now? Or maybe I'm just spoiled by my Keurig. But I have the same grinder only mine is red! It does lol intriguing though. Maybe for when people are over and you have time?
If you use the French press to make cold brew it's much stronger (it's coffee concentrate) and you would only have to make it the night before. Believe me when I say you won't need to make multiple. It lasts for a few cups because it's so strong. The trick is to use cold water the night before, put in fridge, in morning press, and serve. It's sweeter than french press because there was no heat in the brewing (heat causes bitterness). You can heat it after if you want a hot cup (still stunt be bitter because you are heating the coffee and not the bean) but it's so much smoother and since you prep it the night before it's less time in the morning/you only clean it once.
I love french press coffee, that's how I opt to make mine when I have the time. :) A couple tips - use a burr grinder, it gives you a more even grind, so you get less sediment in your coffee. Also, use something plastic or wood to stir the grinds into the water, a metal spoon may shatter the hot glass. I usually use a chopstick. And the best for last, it is also pretty tasty to add a little cinnamon and nutmeg to the grinds before adding water. :D
don't know if you're still using it, but if you're really into the flavors and nuances of real coffee, be sure to use water that's below boiling. if you bring it to a full boil, let it sit for 4 minutes before using. that way you'll get the full flavor without scorching. also, while i do go to Starbucks for the double shot, Peet's and Coffee Bean have way better beans for the french press.
Cold brew coffee off the French press is the worst. I did that once to save having to throw out coffee my parents made and left on it. It tasted heavy and watery. Often coffee off the French press does. There are better ways of making coffee although lots of coffee machines today I can imagine are low quality and not a good buy even though they are on sale in many major stores. Espresso machines and cappuccino machines are often oversized, taking up kitchen space, and the latter have milk go in them which is not sanitary and increases their general cleaning maintenance as old bits of milk spoil in the machine and can make people very sick and even have lead to food poisoning as some people are lazy and do not clean them out. I don't like espresso much although a bit more than cappuccino so I do not think that I want that either. I would suggest an ordinary machine of a reasonable size unless one wants the other ones
A whole lot of crap I can make great coffee when I do. People always use the French press wrong. If one makes coffee off the press it has to be drank a few minutes after its brewed. With an electric maker the water goes through the grind into the pot or cup. That way it does not overbrew if it sits. If it sits on the French press it sits on top of the grind and overbrews and gets a taste of radiator water and becomes bitter and oily in the wrong way. And for those who like it bitter a good bitterness is a crisp one and thats a good thing and something else. Coffee should not be oily and heavy. So if its going to sit Id transfer it off the press
No! You didn't use too much Coffee! You over saturated the Grounds and makes a sludgy messy clean up. The best way to mix You grounds with Your water is fill the Beaker half way then You agitate the ground then fill it to the top of the metal band of Your beaker cage. To clean the Plunge filter Unscrew the stem from the plunge filter then it should be in three parts. Keep Your beakers clean and SAFE! Handle Your Pumpy with care and You're off to a Fulfilling relationship. You should get a smaller pumpy to froth Milk with and You can make home made Lattes. Stevia is a Great sweetener for these Heavenly Coffee beverages. You'll never go back to everyday Joe again! YUCK!
KAT THESE "COFFEE WITH KAT" VIDEOS GIVE ME LIFE.

I don't even drink coffee, but I watched this because I want to know how French presses even work and it looks cool! Idk if I'll ever convert from the occasional tea to the occasional coffee.... I think I like cold coffee more and that's the thing.
If you use loose leaf tea, you can also use a french press to steep it. :D That's how I did so before I picked up other steeping tools!
My friends and I had a tea party once and we used a Perfectea Maker for the loose leaf teas from Teavana, which is basically a single serving and a lot like the pour over Kat used for her coffee. :)
It's so funny to watch, because we're using it all the time😂😂
Hey Kat! Loving your vlogs! I need some advice for royalty free music to use in my videos! I'm having a hard time coming across good stuff. What do you use/recommend?
the intrigue was high for this video despite being a person that doesn't even like coffee that much

4. ADD ALL THE CREAMER!!!!!!!!!!
Loving your videos😍😍

Did u get your mug from ikea. I have a really similar one in purple
Black coffee is the best! Plus, it complements donuts better than coffee with milk/sugar-that's key. :D
Check out Philips senseo sarista... Dutch machine best coffee ever.
And I just watched a whole video about making coffee when I don't even like coffee lol
You should try with a "Moka", the Italian coffee maker! It's absolutely the best coffee ever and if you want you could add some milk and it's really amazing!
LOOK AT ALL THOSE CAMERA ANGLES SO FANCE.
I loved this video. I've been thinking of getting a French press.

Did u ever get that cabinet open????
That was really cool! I may have to try one of those out. Probably would be better than my little automatic makers. It looked so rich and yummy I could almost smell it!
Hi Katy! Do you think you would be comfortable talking about your high school/ college life? (sorry for repeating same question)
I drink my coffee black and I haven't found a good home coffee yet. Maybe I'll give this one a try!
I have no idea why I'm watching this now. It's just after 3:30 AM! Also, I don't care for coffee, but, oddly enough this video makes me really want hot chocolate. And every time I see Mr. Coffee all I can think of is that Mel Brooks movie, Spaceballs.

My nan used to always use one of them when we went to Sunday dinner
BLACK COFFEE ALL THE WAY. Cream takes away the lovely taste.
I love a good cup of french pressed coffee. It was definitely worth the investment! I agree with those who advised to keep the lid on the press while the coffee steeps. If I have coffee leftover, I'll put it in a mason jar and stick it in the fridge. Cold coffee for later! :)
I like the french press too!!! Strong coffee is the best for me :D
It looks like a lot of work for a cup of coffee but I'm sure it's worth it. The flavor is probably so much better. Right now I use a keurig and my coffee is to weak.
Watch Eye Candy because I'm addicted
is french pressing coffee a thing people do every day?? it looks like it tastes incredible but a lot of work so idk...
yup
I'm sorry, but your struggle was hilarious.
What coffee did she use? I know it's starbucks.
Kat looks like she is doing a science experiment.
Haha I've never used a French press but I could tell as you were scooping it up that it was definitely too much coffee! :D
I like your name, fellow Veronica
OMG COFFEE!! I really need coffee but every time I try to use my french press it goes wrong! But I am only a first year so maybe Professor McGonagoll will make me perfect coffee with her wand. TO HOGWARTS!
im gonna go make myself some coffee now
I really want some coffee now.

I agree. I'm usually in a hurry so I love using the Keurig. I don' t doubt the coffee from the press tastes better though.
Doris C it probably does! I've been thinking about trying katys pour over method though
I love French press! I honestly don't mind the cleaning of it cause it's so worth drinking good quality beans 👍
Lol: what? What? What? What? What? 😂☕

+Hi I'm Kris | Krisartsee I know you posted this comment months ago but you changed my iced coffee life with that news. This is going to be the best.
Once you go black you never go back

You have good accent

To clean it, at least for the French Press, I am pretty sure you run/ use it with water. At least that's how you do it for my coffee machine.
You should let those grounds sit for around 4-5 minutes before pushing down. You will have more flavor.
i wish i could smell your coffee!! haha
OK, I want to try one now. lol
Wow, that's now the second way to make coffee to me. Try it in Moka pot, it's easier to clean that French press judging from the video.
Wait, if you grind the beans anyway, why do you need to buy whole coffee beans?
It looks pretty darn cool but time consuming at the same time :/ I'll just stick with my instant coffee =))
Cold brew coffee off the French press is the worst. I did that once to save having to throw out coffee my parents made and left on it. It tasted heavy and watery. Hey Macklemore lets go thrift shopping 0:55
What what what lol
I think that is Turkish coffee.
