OM MY GOD Jovita. You literally broke the internet with this video. Why didn't I see this earlier?? You have my respect girl. Kudos to you! The Internet thanks you for this ✌️🙏
I never comment in any UA-cam video, but the way you are bashing these stupid brands, I am just LOVING it. A year back I completely started boycotting please Lakme because of their whitewash foundations. By chance some of their shades did match me, but I hate anything written "fair"or "white". I always thought why nobody took that seriously, especially my dark skinned friends.I hated fair n lovely since I was a kid and I don't know how they are still continuing these ad campaigns. I have so many dark friends like really dark but I can't even explain how beautiful they are. That name only annoys me, c'mon fair is not always necessarily lovely.😑😑
Actually it does works a bit on a few skin tones. But they are really few. Mostly on those who have fair to fair medium skin tone. But if someone's already fair why would they even need it?🤦🤦sadly most indian girls who don't know much about makeup end up buying these products thinking this is real make-up and beauty.
I totally get you. I was judged & bullied too for my skin colour because my mom is 2-3 tones lighter than me.Whenever I used to see that shitty fair n lovely ad on TV my blood used to boil. Like how dare you fair n lovely! It took me years to accept and love myself the way I am. World would have been sooo boring if there were only one kind of body type and colour. I wish celebrities stopped endorsing these kind of products. But no they only care about the moolah! 🤷
Fair and Lovely fits my mom's skin shade but I'm a few tones darker and she never let me even touch that cream. Ever since I was small, she's drilled it into my head to never use it because it is extremely colourist
The worst thing about whitening creams is that they might have some ingredients in them which are really bad for your skin. I’d rather embrace my darker skin tone (if I were to have one) than use potentially dangerous products on my skin just to look whiter.
True, they have nice nose structure, good eyebrow shape with the appropriate amount of hair. And they look extremely good with red lips thanks to the amount of melanin they possessed
@@krishnarawal6395 there's a slight difference between what you call as a company and what you call as a brand.. Unilever is a company.. HUL is their Indian substitute.. and fair and lovely is BRAND of HUL and NOT Unilever sweetheart..

Frooty Ahmed but the way they're promoting is wrong like- pehle me jab Kali thi to mujhe koi ladka pasand nahi karta tha after using this cream I'm dream girl , no one gave me job because of my dusky skin tone but now I'm fair I'm CEO wtf, the way they represent it it looks like they're saying if you have dusky tone you're disgrace no will like you, you NEED fair tone for better life I've never seen an interviewer don't give job JUST BECAUSE of skin tone
@@devanship5803 I completely agree that they advertise this in the wrong way. But does not every brand does??? Deo lagaoge toh girls aa jaenge., Bornvita pioge toh height badh jaegi?. I completely agree brands are at fault when they create a foundation range that exclude darker skin tones. But one can't bash a product that is meant as anti tanning just like one can't bash tanning products
I see only one shade. The shade thrown by Jovita on Fair & Lovely. YASS, girl! You tell 'em. It's time more and more people speak about this. It's time we stop buying this nonsense. Yami Gautam, girl, what is you doing? We're almost in 2019. Sis, open your eyes. I have my aunts still using this and suggesting me to do the same. No, thank you! I'd rather be dark and beautiful. Also, Clean & Clear Fairness Cream next. Didn't expect them to promote the nonsense about fairness. Highly disappointed.
Deepika Jethi Yami Gautam should seriously sit down and think about what she is doing.... She either cares only about money, or she is genuinely dumb....
I did a sociology project on the internalised racism in India and the way Fair and Lovely feeds it, and during research I found out that Fair and Lovely is expecting a turnover of around ₹3000 crore this year alone.
@@MrJovitageorge So you can obviously imagine why they wouldn't bother putting out more skin shades! It's honestly so sad, especially in this day and age.
@@ambikas232 Honestly. HUl had released this app on Facebook wherein you could make your profile picture fairer. There's so much subliminal messaging that is shown by fairness creams, the whole ploy with fairness being equivalent to success, marriages, etc. It's very disappointing.
In India the change will come with the youth. Young people need to speak up against colorism and make sure we are not parroting older generations ignorant views on skin colour. 🙏🏽 Unfair and Lovely 💕
the indian golden skin is adored all over the western world and in India they can't rise from the dead, great push for the brand, also I didn't know even that sth like this existed from fair and lovely, I am half indian and half british and have somehow inherited the classic indian tone (which is considered 'dark' by many indians aka requiring this piss to go on the face) and I feel extremely lucky about it
Ikrrr! But what to do..we can't console ourselves just by saying that not here, our skin tone is appreciated in that other part of the world..bc Ultimately,we have to face the reality..which is not getting accepted 😑
As someone who is exceedingly pale (and can never find foundation), I wish I could yell from the rooftops to all brown and dark skinned folks that they are BEAUTIFUL and that *BROWN AND BLACK IS LOVELY*
I loooved this, you're hilarious. It's so crazy to me that people in some parts of the world want to be paler. Everyone in the U.S. wants to be tanned/golden because it somehow means you're healthy and go outside a lot, and I get picked on for being super pale. I've learned to accept my skin tone after my tanning attempts just ended up burning me. I wish people would appreciate their natural skin color and not feel pressured by dumb societal beauty standards to waste their time trying to change it. Literally every skin color is so gorgeous. I've never understood it and I never will.
Every skin color is beautiful. I’m also pale and I get bullied because of it. (I live in the US) every wants to be tan. I don’t get why I get picked on though I love my skin color and I think every skin color is beautiful and every should embrace their natural color.
Surely the Bollywood film industry is hugely contributing to this fair skin is best issue. I mean most Bollywood actresses look fair skinned or they have a light coloured complexion! Or green eyes and brown hair and they are considered the most beautiful woman. No one says anything to Bollywood, probably because no big blockbuster movie would be successful if there wasn't some gorgeous fair skinned gal in it (Karina kapoor, anushka, alia bhatt, katrina , aishwaria rai) just few of the top of my head.
I LOVE how you bash Indian beauty trends. We need this. More power to you, Loveeeee! Also, I don't even understand how people are still buying this cream, as there is nothing spectacular about the ingredient list.

I still remember the day when 50% of the guests in my birthday gifted me fair and lovely cream. I was only 12 years old then. So, I didn't realize how big of a deal it was. Then as I grew up, I realized how insulting it was. Sadly, now I'm 22 years old and there are people who still compares beauty with fairness. But the good side is, I just ignore them and love my brown skin. 💕💕
I hate brands like fair and lovely and lakme....they abuse the mentality of their consumers and only marketing products for the fair. These companies only hire fair toned actresses/models when I'm pretty sure most Indians are darker. I'm considerably fair but even I can't find my shades with these brands. I've seen many using lakme foundation throughout my chilhood even if it doesn't match their skin.... I really used to think that foundations are meant to look white paste on skin.
I literally had the same mentality and i hated makeup. Its now that i discovered that i didn't hate makeup, i hated how those people looked after putting "makeup" on.

What?! Not just Indians, a lot of Pakistanis use fair and lovely creams too. This fair and lovely brand is literally cashing in on people's inferiority complex. I hate the fact that it's SOO widely accepted, bought and even endorsed by celebrities like wow, it's just beyond me. We Pakistanis and Indians have the most beautiful skin tones but I would never fathom the fact that we are so keen on hiding our identity, turning our skins ashy and dull, it breaks my heart. I love this video so much. Thankyou for reviewing this overly hyped product. We can easily see how lovely and fresh you looked prior to applying this product. Love you so muchhhh.
I'm not the only one who hasnt bought this rubbish, am I? I actually got one small tube free with 'vanitha'(a malayalam magazine), when i was little and i remember massaging theentire tube on my plant and it died after 2 days
to everyone sharing this (trust i’m doing it too) PLEASE also note that the brand “Dove” is owned and operated by the same company as Fair & Lovely. Isn’t it hypocritical that Dove is doing the “all people are beautiful” campaigning yet their sister company is pretty much the opposite 🤮
Target audience. Wanting to look lighter isn't a trend in the west so they push 'everyone is beautiful' more because they have to appeal to a vast range of skin tones. Looking lighter is a trend in asia so they push more things about how looking dark is ugly and your life will be instantly better once you get rid of your dark skin tone. It's horrible but its how big companies do their advertising.
@@kathryn6683 because as a white woman, you beneift from men finding you more attractive than if you had the same looks but dark brown skin like an indian girl. Henry Fung With all due respect, no one can help the color of the skin they are born with. You do not know me or the struggles I have faced in my life as a woman. You assume because I am white, that my life is easier and men find me more attractive( which is not true in my case). One could say your life is easier simply because you were born a man. I believe making such blanket generalizations can be hurtful , because we are all individuals with our own challenges. I have an Indian friend, who is a man, and he prefers darker skinned women. I just posted this video on my pinterest and facebook. This colourism needs to stop. It's such a waste of time and energy. Bravo to you for sharing your thoughts on this subject.
You know I used to watch your videos without subscribing to your channel(lol) but as soon as I saw it, I hit the subscribe button and shared it on Facebook, because you know I could connect to you so much, let me say that I'm a medium skintone, I'm not dark, but I've got tanned a little because I have to be under the sun almost everyday, but everytime I go to any family gathering, my relatives start saying that "OMG you have became so dark! You used to be so fair!" and that kind of started taking away my confidence because I attached my beauty with my skin color and I also started using this product lol! But the funny thing is nowadays I always raise my voice against racism. That's the truth, no matter how positively one think today, every Indian child is brought up desiring to be fair, because they see everyone praising only fair skintone.

These Indian brands seriously need to come up with more shades if not anything else. Every person should feel comfortable and confident in their own skin tone. Thank you for putting this up.
Swarnali Bhattacharyya true
You're absolutely right!
Especially the 'fair is not always necessarily lovely' part! 😂 love it!
I can judge by myself 😂😂😂... I am fair but not always lovely... 😂😂😂... Sorry for the pj
OMG I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU.
You just explained everything I wanted to say
The irony is that the only girl who gets fair using fair and lovely product is "Yami goutham" 🙄🙄
And, if you don’t want to get a tan, just wear more sunscreen. That’s much better than putting (idek what’s in that skin cream) on your face.
Indian girls are so pretty, you're actually one of the most beautiful girls on the globe - so don't hate your skin color - You're beautiful ❤
True, they have nice nose structure, good eyebrow shape with the appropriate amount of hair. And they look extremely good with red lips thanks to the amount of melanin they possessed

the indian golden skin is adored all over the western world and in India they can't rise from the dead, great push for the brand, also I didn't know even that sth like this existed from fair and lovely, I am half indian and half british and have somehow inherited the classic indian tone (which is considered 'dark' by many indians aka requiring this piss to go on the face) and I feel extremely lucky about it

What?! Not just Indians, a lot of Pakistanis use fair and lovely creams too. This fair and lovely brand is literally cashing in on people's inferiority complex. I hate the fact that it's SOO widely accepted, bought and even endorsed by celebrities like wow, it's just beyond me. to everyone sharing this (trust i’m doing it too) PLEASE also note that the brand “Dove” is owned and operated by the same company as Fair & Lovely.
Isn’t it hypocritical that Dove is doing the “all people are beautiful” campaigning yet their sister company is pretty much the opposite 🤮
They do whatever they think will sell the most product in whichever country they're advertising. It's purely mercenary.
1.1k dislikes from fairy and lovely company staffs and owner 😂

But the funny thing is nowadays I always raise my voice against racism. God created each human beautiful and god doesn't make mistakes. Products like fair and lovely and ppl who shame or bully dark skin are claiming that god makes mistakes in his creation by creation something that acc to them.isnt beautiful.
Everyone is pretty in his skin tone and always remember others would do everything and pay loads of cash to be dark 🌷
Zunayra Zunayra In Fair and Lovely's defence, it's a good cream. It sends the *wrong message* but the formula gives you *clear skin, no spots or blackheads, UV protection* ect. It's main purpose I need to clarify is *NOT to make you randomly fair.* Say you were *naturally born fair* but over time you *darkened in the sun* , it's to make your *natural colour comeback* and *it works at doing what it's suppose to do.* Reviving your natural skin colour. It's a *reverse-tanning cream.*
I'm not making this up. I actually *did research* and my *friend worked in a branch last year* who also gave me more information.
Also I use the cream and *she applied wayyy too much*, your not meant to be able to see the cream
People are just being *mislead by the name of the cream which I also think isn't the best* but you *can't hate on something just because you've misinterpreted* something.
Why aren't *tanning salons* ever questioned, going out in the *sun to get a tan* isn't but simply *reversing the tan is seen as inappropriate.* According *to that logic makeup should also be banned.*
My point is Fair and Lovely's aim is *not to change* your skin but if you're *naturally fair* and *had sunburn* it's meant to *get you your colour back.*
Also Fair and Lovely *sells internationally* and each country had a *different approach to it*
So each of us should also have a *different approach* rather then just *copying eachother.*
Just love yourself and everyone else too 💗.
(Well that was long 😂😄💗)
It should be named as FEAR n lovely🤣🤣🤣🤣
Fair and lovely plays with peoples insecurities. "DARK AND LOVELY"
INDIAN SKINTONE IS THE BEST
WE ARE #UNIQUIE
Like if u agree 👍
My mom once came to me saying that some girl in the church us using fair and lovely and she looks beautiful now.. though she did not urge me buy it but her message was to buy it and use it.. I said no then and I will say no to it always
You are my favourite of all the youtubers!! Unapologetic and badass who speaks her heart out. It’s a treat to watch and hear you!! More power to you girl!! You spoke y heart out!!Sadly being fair is still a norm to be considered beautiful in India even in this 21rst century..Shitty brands like fair n lovely,Lakmé,whitetone face powder etc are thriving just because of this one reason and will continue to do so as long as people buy them..we the people need to boycott them completely!
And bleaching every salon still offers bleaching. Bleaching products are equally discriminating.
Fair and lovely? More like anemic and sickly.
Lol instant fair! Fair on demand! This product makes women look dead. 👀 Great upload I love your opinions.
Wow I remember when I was in high school even I wanted to be fair 😂😂 LOL to the younger me, used Garnier cream at that time , now I'm 26 and I search intently and wisely on foundation that suits my skin colour 😁

Yes Jovita! Sadly there are still people using this fair and lovely in India.. people want to look white and fair I donno when they will gonna realise that their skintone is beautiful and we definitely don't want to look fair to be beautiful as jovita taught me😁
Oh my goodness, you and Anncy Twinkle have really opened my eyes to this topic. You both look so glowing and healthy and beautiful! It's astounding anyone would tell y'all you need to be lighter to be pretty. Thanks for this video. You're funny :)
