Hi Jovita! Thanks for making this video. It's so important for Indian UA-camrs to make these videos and you are one of the few who actually makes them! Did you know there are other Indian UA-camrs who are promoting glutathione for skin whitening?!! If someone wants lighter skin as a personal preference, they are free to do that. But to put such ideas out there on the internet in a country known for discriminating against skin colour is just obnoxious.
The company making the glutathione products contacted me to do a paid review and I turned them down. So did fair n lovely. It’s important to stand for values and promote change when needed.. some people need to know making money and becoming fair is not what life is about 🤷🏽♀️
For real! And there are these stupid methods to *get fairer naturally* that get millions of views. They are often on the trending page. I still cannot comprehend how we allow such things. Literally every beauty product in India now has either _skin whitening claim_ or _glowing skin claim._ "glowing" is now a word that's synonymous with whitening. These companies make millions off of our insecurities thrusted upon us by the society that itself is insecure.
They need a dark chocolate to eat but not the same in skin tone!🙄 Its really annoying.. Every dusky girl of youtube needs to bash these kinda brands and educate the girls who are told being dark is lika sin.. I just want the brands just shut up😑😑😑
It's actually because of the Indian aunties who think foundation is for making you fair..... I went to a wedding last month and was shocked to see the bride.... Her face looked like sister snow white and neck was of my shade 😂and that girl has studied in USA... These people are called literate fools
I remember when one of my friends who's a very beautiful tan color (like the average Indian) got married in India, her MUA made her apply some sort of white wash all over her face, neck, back and arms even, inspite of my friend trying to tell her she did not want that and she had her own shade of foundation! My friend was so upset and in the car on the way to the venue she wiped off most of that gunk and did her own makeup ,but it left a bad memory of what was supposed to be one of the happiest days of her life. :(
Ok I am a white woman from Canada who is usually around NW20 and that looks like it might possibly match me. And that is the darkest shade in a brand from India? Crazy and sad.
This is one of the longest lasting and most degrading negative effects of the 200 years of colonial exploitation. We were judged brutally on the basis of our skin colours. For Indians it was more difficult because we were ethnically neither white nor black. This mentality will change for sure and it has improved, but it needs a really long time to completely go away.
@@trisha7516 Wrong. British colonisation isn't root cause. Whole world loves fair skin or fairer shade among the population. In India it is caste system where upper castes tend to look fairer. In any society, upper class decides the beauty standards. But corporate propaganda and Bollywood brainwash has still kept the same idea about beauty standards.
I don't understand.. consumers WANT foundation shades that match our darker skin tones.. isn't it more profitable for brands to cater to more people??? I'm baffled!! Disappointed, Colorbar! Thank you, next!
Exactly! It just makes good business sense to cater to all skin tones and increase their profitablility! Just can't understand what these brands are thinking!
Not every one wants a foundation that matched their skin if the think they are dark. Most people think foundation is to make you fair. They see it as a product to lighten their face. So, probably that's why companies don't see a lot of women buying dark foundations. In malls, I have seen fairer bottles more oit of stock than the darker ones. Probably just me, but sadly people lack confidence themselves.

it's so ironic how everyone else just appreciates our beautiful different brown shades but Indian companies are like , 'y'all hear something'? Its just so disappointing. its 2019, what are they doing?
Jovi! The girls in Chennai are asking me foundations that will make them fair? Im now starting to get confused , if the companies do because of the girls expectations or these girls expect because of the companies.
They ask because they're told that they need to be lighter. Give them confidence love. Tell them they don't need to hide their beautiful rich color. And suggest some lovely dark color foundations like L.A girl and PAC
God bless the day when an Indian brand will make 20-30 inclusive shades. I think brands don’t do it deliberately because they want to glorify white skin. 😣
SNZ - Absolutely... I agree with you. The biggest problem is our Indian mentality. We think that having fair skin means you are superior no matter how talented or how good your nature is. We should really stop paying heed to such products.
AnHeC lol how are u even comparing Poland to India? u do realise that Indians vary from very fair to very dark, unlike Polish people who are usually just white skinned
Exactly why I hate shopping for foundations with these sales ladies.. they have no knowledge of what the customer wants and just suggest things to boost sales :-[
Not just in India. I'm a mid toned Indian living in Europe, and white ladies here(at MAC, lancôme etc) asked if I wanted my skintone or lighter when I asked for foundation
My soul felt this video so hard! 😢 I m nc25-30 depending on the amount of tanning i do but even I couldn't get a shade match. All the shades were either pale or pink tone. I had to buy number 2 because number 3 made me look grey 😮 I was so taken aback by the colors, it's just very odd and sad
THANKS FOR BRINGING THIS UP recently saw the maybelline foundation advertisement for India and I was so mad! Not one brown skinned woman! What a shame..
Glad these companies are being called out for their foolishness. Good job! This is the age where Fenty Beauty has revolutionised the beauty industry by bringing out so many shades...and here we have companies like Lakme, Colorbar, Fair N Lovely etc trying to take us back decades. Who hires their R&D team I wonder? Do they even have one? Doesn't seem so. You should check out the models from the Lakme Fashion Week - all made up to look fairer than they actually are. It's disgusting is what it is.
My skin colour is darker than yours but I actually have a foundation from colourbar that matches my skin... It doesn't look like the one in this video. It's in tube packaging. What is going on???
U said it sister... Love this video.. Especially " madam ji that's what I meant"... Loved it.. Fair is so worshiped in India especially in kerala.. Am so loving ur videos coz u have made me confident about my skin colour and am no more bothered that am dark skinned.. Thank u so much.. Making a change dear.. A huge change.. ❤️
You completely voiced my thoughts on hopeless Indian brands that promote sick mentality of “only fair means beautiful” I have been a victim of this though I am NC 42. Can very well guess what Indian girls of darker complexion go through in our society.. I have stopped buying indian makeup as a vengeance.. only PAC cosmetics stand out in the crowd as they are doing an amazing job in the Indian makeup scenario.. Your sarcasm is on point and as usual hilarious..I was actually laughing when you were singing and the way you demonstrated the foundation application..More power to you girl!! You rock!!
5 shades only! What a shame. Wake up Indian cosmetics brands there are darker pple in India too !!!! Ur idea that white skin is everything is so ridiculous and narrow minded!!!! Grow up!!! All over the world we have foundations that matches our skin... why can't India do the same?!
Your venting out like this makes me really happy even though I am a light skin toned person. It's really sad to think that our wishes would be restricted by not their incapabilities but bcoz of their insensitivity. Love your work❤️
Well if that's the darkest shade in India, me and my papersheet white skin need to move there. Then I might finally be able to find a shade light enough at the drugstore lol
this is the first video os yours i've ever seen and i'm loving it, i'm white and i dont even wear makeup but makeup is for everyone and dark skinned people need more visibility and inclusion and i'll fight for it with you ♥️
This is honestly so important. I can't even begin to imagine how insulting it must be to darker skin girls to go through this so much. Sometimes my mom tells me " if you were darker you'd understand and then you'd do everything to be fairer" I'm like NO MOM I WOULDN'T because dark is also beautiful light is also beautiful. It's literally the colour of your skin. Doesn't change a damn thing. I've seen this kind of behaviour among black women as well where some promote "skin whitening" and it must be so damaging to young impressionable girls. #whereismyshade is a mood.
I just watched your video and posted it on my Facebook & Instagram account. I'm a dark brown girl living overseas and it speaks volumes when the only shade found in drugstores or chemists is either labelled "dark" or "deep" and they're as light as the foundation you reviewed!! The selection in the last few years has gotten better, but the struggle is still real (unfortunately). 2019 and still fighting colourism!! We all want the opportunity to look and feel our best and have the money to do it (and happy to spend) if given some choices. We matter too! Thank you again for starting the dialogue and doing it was intelligence, wit and humour! Brava darling!!
My mum is from India , my father is not. My mum would tell me about the colorism in India and it broke my heart. Luckily she raised me to love my skin and I did not need to be fair to be beautiful. I do hope one day our India people get that all skin tones are beautiful. It starts with each one of us.
Thank you so much for this, beauty gurus n people in USA bash companies when they cm out with few shades, n look at ppl here where nothing happens wen a company comes with 4-5 shades. What an embarrassment
Seriously... There are colors... Othan stark WHITE... C'mon we are not going to put.. Whitewashing paint on our face.. Thank you for being so upfront and putting it out there... The way it is... Your honesty is on another level... ❤️👍💯
THUMBS UP!!! YOU ARE SO RIGHT. I find it crazy that I cannot find my shade of makeup in a country of people just like me. The companies need to understand that every customer is cashed up, not just those four shades of eggshell.
I really wanted to buy colorbar foundation and you just gave me the correct insight. Well pointed and the roast, sarcasm..all on point. Hope the brand hears it and does the needful. Thanks a lot for this video.
I m an Indian woman living in South Africa and I just found your channel - I adore you!!! I love your confidence and all that you stand for! And your quirky personality - Keep shining your light! Love from SA
This jst reminded me of my makeup done by Parlour Aunty... I wanted a simple makeup for my di's engagement..But she is did a fair bridal makeup on me...that too two times..one was done by her maid who had no experience and when I complained , then only she did some touch up..which made my face look so horrible..My face was super dooper jaundice white while my body was brown... It costed me...Rs2000. It made me look so horrible that finally I came home , cried coz people around me telling achi dikh rai ho..when I wasn't looking gud at all🤣🤣 This made me cry more and more...I cried for 5 mins in bathroom and washed it off..Then I put my simple makeup and went out happily ...I looked good and confident in my skin tone..😏
I've got this foundation and I've been using it for a year now - I love it! Very comfortable, light coverage, highly buildable. I'm fair so this suits me really well, it's a shame that they don't make more shades. Companies need to realize that they're not capitalizing on the larger segment of population- so disappointing
Saying such things about yourself really need guts man Saw you for the first time on UA-cam Hats off man You are such an confident and you have a lots of guts to say about your complexion God bless you with all the happiness in your life

This is brilliant. You are brilliant. Thank you for being real and raw. Funny story - I lived in Scotland for a bit. I once met a woman whose face was literally orange (bad spray tan I guess) who came up to me and gushed over my complexion. She said she's spent so much money on tanning just to get that beautiful brown skin that we have. And looking at this video I'm genuinely appalled and sad that even in this day and age, these are still problems we face here in India.
Jovi when you said shreya can pull off then I thought I can also pull off because I buy my foundation according to her shade but the second thought was we shouldn't support these brand though I love their nail paint
Big thumbs up 👍 for the initiative you taken to change the Indian mentality about brown girls.......... I can totally relate with you and agree what you said....... I am NC40-42 when I got tanned and I heard so many things about my complexion and so called expert advice..... Now I live in UK and here people says that I have very beautiful skin sometimes it surprised me as in India I never heard these kind of statements ......Even people love brown skin and they called it Glow and use so many tanning products and goes to tanning salon to get that tan tone......... I really love your smile and which is so beautiful 😍

im so proud of u! when i was in india for 7 months ( 2016-2017) i had so much trouble buying compact powder that i shifted to translucent powder completely
I completely agree with everything that you said. The make up scene in India seems so prejudiced that I don't even want to use their brands. And I don't even have a huge problem finding my shade.
You are doing a great job by calling out such people. 🙌🏼 I wish our dark skinned ( not just dusky ) sisters also start their beauty channels on UA-cam .
This is video is great.! I'm a big fan writing comment for the first time....i love how you make your point in such a humorous way.....i love your work each and every video....I don't know why people here in India are obsessed with fair complexion.....even the brands are stupid to make people believe that their product is magic and turn the complexion permanently.!!
I have entirely stopped using products from such brand like colorbar and lakme, though their non complexion products are good but so are the products of other brands like PAC which cater to every skin tone. You are doing a great job by pointing out such things and educating many people too. More power to you.
Wow powerful powerful message jovita.. I'm a dark brownie btw none of the Indian brands had the right shade for me.. then Revlon n loreal did.. but still u know it's hard to find dark shades in the shops and IT IS A SHAME I say
Totally agree with u ... even in youtube mostly fair girls are making videos and their videos are been watched by everyone . E.g. if I go to check out lipstick shades or lipstick swatches , I find my feed filled with fair girls and African girls ... there are very few you tubers with Indian skin tone like us . I would say more girls with Indian (yellow, golden , olive) skin tone should come up boldly and make videos so that we girls can be benefited....

It does not do good for many shades darker than me.. But atleast not like this colorbar who sells chalk paste in a high end luxurious bottle
it's so ironic how everyone else just appreciates our beautiful different brown shades but Indian companies are like , 'y'all hear something'? Its just so disappointing. its 2019, what are they doing?
The time when she says 'do you mean..."gora"....'😂
Love the sarcasm
Not really. They cater to the majority. And majority wants to look like a white wall.
SNZ - Absolutely... I agree with you. The biggest problem is our Indian mentality. We think that having fair skin means you are superior no matter how talented or how good your nature is. We should really stop paying heed to such products.
Sugar cosmetics did launch 21 shades with their ace of face foundation. And it is an amazing product too.
Pac is d only brand in india which has a good shade range in d foundations nd concealers nd thy r planing to lanch evn more......
AnHeC lol how are u even comparing Poland to India? u do realise that Indians vary from very fair to very dark, unlike Polish people who are usually just white skinned
The worst part is when u ask the sales person to pick up a foundation they will give u two shades lighter than ur skin complexion...😂😂😂
@Falak Khurmi OMG hilarious 😂..it happens coz we live in India..
Exactly why I hate shopping for foundations with these sales ladies.. they have no knowledge of what the customer wants and just suggest things to boost sales :-[
@@shakthisekar187 not just india. South asian girls as at UK beauty counters do the same thing. Its gotten better in the past 3 or so years tho
Exactly , I dont understand why they gotta do that , like wth is.wrong with them ? 🙄😑
Not just in India. I'm a mid toned Indian living in Europe, and white ladies here(at MAC, lancôme etc) asked if I wanted my skintone or lighter when I asked for foundation
My soul felt this video so hard! 😢
I m nc25-30 depending on the amount of tanning i do but even I couldn't get a shade match.
The company makes darker foundation only in the tube version. The jar version has only light shades. www.colorbarcosmetics.com/face.html
And ironically Kerala is the state with highest literacy rate. It shows that education doesn't guarantee common sense
You rock!!
5 shades! And that's the darkest shade?? For us brown bishes? Wowww
Yep yep yep!
950 bucks for this white paint colour which i can find at any school supllies store for max 100 rs ? PASS 🤣
Parul Vats ₹25-₹35 to be exact for super white lol
Hahahaha your comment is hilarious Parul Vats
The darkest shade is.. slightly off yogurt? But that's like my shade 🤣 and I am definitely not the darkest lolol
How do you make these brands understand??? LIKE HOWWW??
It's 2019 for God's sake 😤 Makes me wanna bang my head against the wall
Tag them on twitter and Instagram! Send this video to them 😆
@@MrJovitageorge
Oh, ironically, Colorbar's Instagram bio says "Every colour under the sun for every shade of you" 😒
The audacity 🙄😑

5 shades only! What a shame. Wake up Indian cosmetics brands there are darker pple in India too !!!! Ur idea that white skin is everything is so ridiculous and narrow minded!!!! Grow up!!! All over the world we have foundations that matches our skin... why can't India do the same?!
Your venting out like this makes me really happy even though I am a light skin toned person. It's really sad to think that our wishes would be restricted by not their incapabilities but bcoz of their insensitivity.
Love your work❤️
Thank you for standing together with us!
I would like companies to explain why they exclude warmer/deeper skin tones ! Great video! Love the sass!
Well if that's the darkest shade in India, me and my papersheet white skin need to move there. Then I might finally be able to find a shade light enough at the drugstore lol
We love a sarcastic, sassy queen that exposes colorist makeup brands 👏🏾👸🏾🙌🏾👑
this is the first video os yours i've ever seen and i'm loving it, i'm white and i dont even wear makeup but makeup is for everyone and dark skinned people need more visibility and inclusion and i'll fight for it with you ♥️
Didnt u knw?? The corpse look is always "in"!! 🤭👻
Yesss love 👏👏
they launched more shades and i got mine today! 🥺❤️
they heard you after two years lol, but it’s a good change. better late than never.
My mum is from India , my father is not. My mum would tell me about the colorism in India and it broke my heart. Luckily she raised me to love my skin and I did not need to be fair to be beautiful. I do hope one day our India people get that all skin tones are beautiful. It starts with each one of us.
I'm pretty white and this foundation would still certainly wash me out. I think that in its own says a LOT.
Jovita you managed to hit them where it hurts. They've launched 30 shades recently! Wooo
Hopefully the brand sees this and makes changes
There isn't any flickering for me. Also you're amazing and absolutely right, these brands need to open their eyes.
THUMBS UP!!! YOU ARE SO RIGHT. I find it crazy that I cannot find my shade of makeup in a country of people just like me. The companies need to understand that every customer is cashed up, not just those four shades of eggshell.
Hey dear u actually have the voice of 80% of India.
And a request plz do a review of L A Girl pro colour foundation mixing pigments
I really wanted to buy colorbar foundation and you just gave me the correct insight. Well pointed and the roast, sarcasm..all on point. Hope the brand hears it and does the needful. Thanks a lot for this video.
“I’m becoming gora, this is the dream of every girl and boy.” 🤣🤣🤣👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 I love you.
I really need Colorbar to respond to this video. 🤨🤨🤨
I'm becoming gora! This is the dream of every Indian girl and boy! -😭👏👏👏
YYAAASSS QUEEN!!!!!!!YOU TELL 'EM !!!!!! The audacity these product brands have needs to be broken
The queeen of sarcasm - haha "what are we supposed to glow about" hahaha
Saying such things about yourself really need guts man
Saw you for the first time on UA-cam
Hats off man
You are such an confident and you have a lots of guts to say about your complexion
God bless you with all the happiness in your life
Your sarcasm is on the point.i totally loved it.I totally hate pagalpan of gorapan.
Omg the level of sarcasm in this video 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 I LOVE IT it makes me wish we were friends in real life 😭😭 I think we have the same skin tone and these makeup rants would be epic !
Everything you said has merit ! Pa also love that you’re teaching VBS!
Lol I'm so done with light foundations. I've started using the dark end of contour sticks for foundation
That’s true! You could sneak into a store search it and see if it matches ( for curiosity sake 🤣 )
Loved to hear u take VBS classes 😇😇.. I vl be taking it this summer... Stay blessed girl 😘
This video is so high on sarcasm, knowledge and entertainment..!! One of the best videos so far..I hope it's the ULTIMATE FLAW FIXER FOR such thought processes and these beauty industries
They shud give shade adjusting drops free with every foundation 😂😂 You have a beautiful singing voice btw 😊
im so proud of u! when i was in india for 7 months ( 2016-2017) i had so much trouble buying compact powder that i shifted to translucent powder completely
Seeiously companys should atleast think about darker girls!! ✌PERIOD ✌ And your sarcasm is on point 🙌🙌🙌
I completely agree with everything that you said. The make up scene in India seems so prejudiced that I don't even want to use their brands.
And I don't even have a huge problem finding my shade.
Ma'am the way you troll and the way you act is so sarcastic 😂😂 , btw you have a beautiful voice
“ I am becoming goraaa” 😂😂
Saw this video today and it’s good to see you bring a change
Lots of love and support😘
You are bare faced? Damn girl, you're too pretty
You are doing a great job by calling out such people. 🙌🏼 I wish our dark skinned ( not just dusky ) sisters also start their beauty channels on UA-cam .
In India even today when people think of foundation they think they are supposed to become "gora"🙄😕
If that's already the "darkest" shade, I can't even begin to imagine the lightest shade.
I have entirely stopped using products from such brand like colorbar and lakme, though their non complexion products are good but so are the products of other brands like PAC which cater to every skin tone. You are doing a great job by pointing out such things and educating many people too. More power to you.
"Madam ji...that is my point" .... 🤣🤣🤣
Wow powerful powerful message jovita.. I'm a dark brownie btw none of the Indian brands had the right shade for me.. then Revlon n loreal did.. but still u know it's hard to find dark shades in the shops and IT IS A SHAME I say
Died at the Priyanka Chopra and Shreya Jain diss 💀
Omg someone is finally speaking what we dark skin girls have always felt .... I love my colour no matter what 😍
It's scorching heat here in Mumbai...loved the video.... I wish it rains here too... love...Mr Jovi
The heat is just about to begin in Kuwait. Scary thought!
Chechi, that's a real cute look for VBS 😂😂
Sis, I fucking LOVE YOU. Coming from an dark Indian girl, this warms my heart. Thank you
I've shared the video on colorbar cosmetics' Instagram handle. Hopefully they notice it and get some brain 😌
Keep up with your wonderful work love .... sending you loads of love, hugs and best wishes😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘
Thank you for sharing this with them! Hopefully they get the message! 🥰
Did the same thing! 😎
I loved the way u think..
Yes.. makeup is for everyone and unless if it do nt matches our complexion we won't be able to wear it..
In India, even though most indians have darker skin tones the makeup brands have to release makeup for fairer skin tones..
Very “ fair”(ly) reviewied 🤣🤣🤣!!!
😂😂
Omg! Jovita didn’t know you are a comedian too! Okay now all jokes apart! You have brought up a serious issue us brown girls are facing today! Thank you for bringing this up!
Jovi please make a video on best highlighter. And please Include every form such as mist or powder.
Being a kid I used to be depressed for being dark skin
My grany used to tease me
Used all shit garnier bright skin care products, and what ever lakme offered until I completed my college and joined job and watching youtube makeup tutorials like urs
I feel sorry for younger me
And finally happy with my skin tone
Thanks n love to you
died..😂😂😂😂😂"im becoming gooraaaaaaa "... every Indian auntieas and girls want to become gorra😂..and they think that foundation is a fairness cream.. 😶..
I loved this video ❤❤❤❤
U r talking so on point cauz this is a real problem in india with makeup brands. They don't consider even indian skin tone , they take whitest shades nd launch them in india in super high prices nd we let them . Things really need to change
bro m fair and that looks like my concealer
This made feel so much better!! We need to drill this into the Indian cosmetics companies
We Love you jo ♥️
Hi Jovita, I wrote to them when the collection came out on mails and Instagram and they had the worst reaction!
Please make a video in daylight...I would love to see how your makeup looks in natural light....for some reason the studio lights make you look way lighter ....I have also observed that the lipsticks look a different shade in your videos which I believe is due to the light....btw great video! Nailed it
