- 3yrs as a UA-camr. Feels like 6. Have I cracked the infamous algorithim? It's been a great journey this far but I've still got a long way to go, given the theme of my content, this channel is still young to me and I'm loving the ride. if I was to find your channel just today and it had 200k subs I would say to myself; jeez this bloke deserves way more. So being at 27k is certainly mysterious, I eagerly follow all your content and it is privately frustrating that a wider audience is not getting to see such unique and quality content. Keep it up Pat
I'm not the influencer or trendy type that is popular these days, people like shallow, disposable content. I will still be around in another 3yrs while other channels will come and go

I started my channel about three years ago also. I gave up long ago worrying about algorithms , likes, subscriber counts, and comments. Barely over six hundred subscribers in all this time, money, and often heartache. Thankfully was never concerned about income or fame but still wanted to offer a travel channel very different from others. It is a hobby nothing more and shows are whenever I am ready and feel like it. Discovered quickly all the effort and time just editing with not much in return. I do it because I enjoy it and the experiences of travel. I have my own life's algorithms to figure out. Not UA-cam's issues.
I like the history stuff and the cats. Ok I like all of it. Great channel Pat

I really miss visiting BKK, not having been there for over 3 years. BKK Pat's channel has been a wonderful substitute! He is the personal tourist guide I never had, and his advice is what I look forward to in my next visit, if and when ever!

Your channel sticks out as something a bit different, compared to the usual "expat in bangkok" guys, more depth and history. I came across you after spending a week in BKK and then seeing a reference to you on reddit.I subscribed because your content was compelling and I keep coming back because what you're talking about I just find interesting.

I also found in my limited experience that tags don’t do much. I think Frank has the right idea that words in the actual video matter much more for SEO. And thanks for featuring the Bangkokalypse Now clip, Pat. I’ve seen that clip 500 times and it still makes me laugh every time.

I actually stumbled upon your channel doing "research" for my 1st trip to Thailand. Before I finished watching the 3rd video, I subscribed to the channel. You know the rest!!! I think you should "cast a wide net", those who like your "style" will hook on. That's what happened to me! Keep up the great work, Pat.

The algorithm is mysterious. I've not subscribed to you, but your videos get recommended every so often and I watch a few. It somehow seems to know which ones are related to others I watch. (And I never click the notification button unless the channel does livestreams that I'd like to see.)

Whatever they do I feel I will enjoy their latest offering.
I also agree that certain UA-camrs are SO concerned about their content they try to change from their original ideas.
Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t.

Love your work Pat -follow religiously! and always amazes me the seemingly infinite nooks and crannies this amazing city has to offer. Happened to be back in BKK last week and thought about asking you to meet and perhaps show us around. Then common sense prevailed and I then thought you probably get bothered by hundreds of people with similar requests, so left the poor guy alone -maybe I’ll join one of your tours next time. In the meantime keep up the great work 👊
For what it's worth Pat I don't bother too much with glossy titles etc. I watch a video and if I like the content I watch it until the end. Simple as that. I don't judge a book by the covers! I also agree that if you get the content right then people will watch your videos. Research and good preparation have been one of the reasons I think that you have a loyal band of followers. Maybe we are more discerning, I don't know but what I do know is if you continue to produce your signature vlogs on Bangkok and its surrounds then you will make a lot of viewers very happy indeed. (and hopefully get your numbers up as well). Give yourself a big 'Pat' on the back on your 3rd anniversary 🥳🥳🥳

I thoroughly enjoy all your videos, as a fellow "pedestrianist" it has given me ample information about places I've meant to visit, and made me get my ass away from UA-cam for a weekend. But some videos that have stood out to me are the very informative historical videos, all from the Patpong, soi zero and Sukhumvit square as well as the world war memorial and the history behind it. Especially since I came here in 2006, so I missed out on the 90s here, I actually arrived the day tanks rolled in on KSR among other places to ensure Thaksin stayed abroad, was quite an interesting beginning if I could say so myself. But it's been extremely valuable to get a lot of backstories to everything I have come to take for granted, especially from somewhere entertaining rather than Wikipedia, so massive props for that!

Do you ever scour the local papers for ideas? This month is one of those pride month affairs (no I'm not LGBT myself) but could be some interesting events to cover there.
