B M hey man does the bolt have to be flush with the cover there was blue loc tite on my bolt and now the bolt will only go in so mich with a ratchet and I see threads on my plug and I see fluid slowly leaking out any help does it have to be flush with the cover?
@@Heezy2023 it should be pretty much flush but there will be threads showing. It doesnt go all the way in on the rear diff. Use a thread sealant not loctite.
Today I just changed the differential oil on my 2005 Nissan Titan XE with 76,000+ miles on it. after watching this and other videos. It went easily and smoothly. Used Mobil One 75W-140. @ $19.95 per quart. Used 2 1/2 quarts. And yes the aroma is putrid. Like dead ass.
4.2 pints....2 pints to the quart...so just a shade over 2 quarts...that is the reason the fill hole is located where it is...ya can't over fill....murphy's law...lol
Thanks for taking the time to make the video. upgrading my 05 titan diff to a finned cover this weekend and swapping the fluid should go pretty smooth like yours I hope
Excellent video. I drive a Nissan 3500 12-passenger van for my large family, and I intend to change the diff fluid soon. I’m guessing it’s a very similar procedure to the one presented in your video.
Great video i getting all the info i need on maintenance for the titan cause i plan on purchasing a 07 titan cause i wanted a full size truck cause i have a 05 Chevy Tahoe just needed a reliable full size truck thanks.
My mother has a 2017 Rogue SV. I wonder if it has a breather on the differential. I might do the transfer case fluid and the differential one day. The transfer case would be the harder one because of where the plug is. I will have to see if I can find that and see if it is as awful as some people make it seem. I know on some newer vehicles these days, a lot of things get crammed into such a small space that you may feel as though you would never get to them.
The Gear Oil and Motor Oil viscositys Are Not the Same. Gear oil differs from motor oil. While many motorists may assume SAE 90 gear oil is thicker than SAE 40 or 50 motor oil, they are actually the same viscosity; the difference is in the additives.
Think I have a leak coming from the fill plug I followed your video and there was blue loc tite on the bolt does the plug have to be flush as in no threads are showing when I use my ratchet it only screws in so many threads with a ratchet and I still see threads of the fill bolt any help
I'm surprised to see how plugged your vent was considering how new the vehicle is. I had a Toyota with at similar vent, lots of issues with axle seal leaks which the dealer couldn't figure out. I ended up finding the vent plugged, replaced it with a barbed fitting / tube and no more axle leaks... My titan (only 6 mouths old) has the same vent designs and I think it might be a good idea to remove it before it becomes a issues. Thanks for the videos and enjoy your Titan.
BackYard Tech a barb fitting? More details plz, I have an 05 that I’m putting an 08+ rear axle assembly in and may do what ur saying as preventive measure along with vent
Armando Monroy hi my owners manual didn't specify a change interval only a 40000km check. the AMSOIL used in this video is good for 100000 miles regular duty or 50000 miles severe duty (towjng/off-road)
it is normal to have it heat up depending on ambient temperature, towing and speed. Did u ever check it before? Make sure levels are good. Do u have the finned cover like in the video, Nissan added it in the later years to help reduce heat. it also requires synthetic because it withstands heat better than conventional oil. I checked some forums and temps for people who installed gauges were 170-220f after driving.
the AMSOIL 75w140 is not thinner, it is the viscosity required by Nissan, the diff will get hot just like the tranny fluid, the finned diff helps, the synthetic oil is very heat resistant, 220 deg far. is over 104 deg Celsius which you wouldn't want to check with your hand. I if it's over that u could have problems, u can check with an infrared thermometer

The smell is the worst part.
I did the rear diff on my 14 Titan a few months ago but i used Royal Purple.
I Love my truck!
You must have paid about $21.00 per quart if you bought it in California.

1/8" BPST x 1/4" hose ID is the correct hose barb size to run vent up under rear bumper area etc.
Thanks for sharing
@@TitanTown British pipe thread size is hard to believe but true....
Good job...and drive your Titan down here to Arizona for baseball Spring Training~~~~
Great video, thank you for taking the time to make it.
Thanks. I have a lot more videos to help you out.
BM, Its a 3/8" drive ratchet. not 1/2". I'm sure people will figure it out. great video.
Marc Sciarrotta my bad, thanks for the clarification.
Este site é burro, quero saber se existe diferencial no Nissan march.

Why is such heavy oil running so fast during drain ??
The Gear Oil and Motor Oil viscositys Are Not the Same.
Gear oil differs from motor oil. While many motorists may assume SAE 90 gear oil is thicker than SAE 40 or 50 motor oil, they are actually the same viscosity; the difference is in the additives.
How about some Compressed air in the upper hole to blow out any residual oil/debris?
You could, I sometimes pump some oil in to flush it out before reinstalling drain plug.
Hello, good morning. To change the oil, do I have to remove the cover? oh can i just empty the old oil and put the new one in?
No, just pull the plug out of the bottom, drain old oil and refill through plug on the side.
Thank you for speaking American, made it easy for me to understand. EXCELLENT TUTORIAL VIDEO!
Most Anericans only speak and understand American. Great vid
You mean English
American? I'm certain he was speaking the language known as English.
Did you use limited slip additive?
No, don't use it. Titans don't have a limited slip differential.

Make sure plug isnt cross threaded.
Snug it down and go quarter turn!
whats a " kilometer"?
The correct way of measuring distance

Hey bud, what did you do with your diff breather? Is the hose clamped to the stock nipple gadget? I need to do the same thing.
I bought a kit from prg. It came with a nipple, hose and filter. Cajun also sells a kit. Lots of info on titantalk
@@TitanTown ok, thanks. You use the same gear oil for rear diff, front diff & t case?
@@dustysims902 No, front diff 75 or 80w90, rear 75w140, transfer case transmission fluid. Check my other vids I ha e one on each.

Two bottles or 2 quarts.
No, no slip lock in the Titan, other anti-slip differentials may need it. the Titan has an open diff or on the Pro4X a mechanically locking diff.
