You are absolutely right, we *have* been cheated of some glorious post-pandemic Josephine Baker shenanigans! And I love the vision this gives me of a very stylish cleanup crew moving slowly behind the foul behemoth of fast fashion, taking up the sequined dross, and transforming it into self-expression and pure pleasure.
I love when you talk about clothes and fashion. So inclusive, so open-minded, so creative. Can't help but leave this inspired and grateful for what I already have.
Leena, this is such a genius move ! I live my life quite oblivious of trends and wear my same old classics until they fall apart (also probably possible since the democratisation / parallel existence of trends you mentioned). but with your framing of trends so that they become a tool for a) sustainable fashion choices and b) getting ppl to both jump on the sustainability bandwagon as well as learning to steer it for themselves, i actually enjoy thinking about fashion. so cool!
that ombre dress at 7:50 are you KIDDING??? you made all of them work but that one is on another level imo ❤❤
THIS! THIS IS IT! I have been calling it Rita Skeeter but JKR can get in the bin. Absolutely here for Ozcore!
leena continues her trend of being a secondhand style icon ✅ you look amazing and green is my favorite color, definitely on board with intentional trends (and finding fun ways to re-use trendy clothes).
First ‘trend’ that actually has me thinking about combining things from my closet in new ways! I’m already into weird fashion vibes (my go-to faves are “pirate off duty” and “literal blanket”) it takes a lot for me to be creatively inspired by a trend, but this did it! Plus my personal theme of the year is “happy lil frog” and I feel like there’s a lot of potential crossover between happy lil frog vibes and ozcore. Here for the intentional mess of it all.
On a related note, Here’s hoping for the visible mending trend to take off more in 2024!
I feel like I really need to hear more about your style and personal themes, this just sounds like such a great way to live!
"happy lil frog" made me smile soooo much!!!! 🐸That sounds optimistic and cute!
This comment is my favorite thing today. I too vacillate between blanket and swashbuckler vibes 🥲
Hope you're having a great year so far 🐸
Tbh it’s pretty fun. My friends tend to describe my fashion vibe as “coziest witch” or sometimes “librarian in the emerald city” so I’m ready for ozcore haha
Yesss! I’m so glad to know there are more pirate-blankets out there 😁!
I don't care what's cool or trendy anymore. If I like it I'll wear it, and if I can't buy it I'll make it. I barely buy clothes from stores anymore, anyway. I thrift instead :)
O.....m........g...........since I was reading the Wizzard of Oz I've been obsessed with green glitterly outfits
Now I feel home
Mmmmmffff that jacket and that waistcoat! The options! The combinations! The COLOURS!
The infinity glasses that Elphaba is wearing - I'm OBSESSED...
You can get similar ones from firmoo I think?
I'm conflicted by these as they were what all the quirky 15 year olds were wearing about 5 years ago when i was volunteering in youth work.... also i find them super distracting when I'm trying to look someone in the eye!
omg I love this style!!!! I've been looking into a bit of a punk, solar punk, steam punk, a bit of a goth, a bit of a "forest witch" kinda look and did not know how to match these up, especially on a plus sized figure like mine without being slouchy and baggy, but you ABSOLUTELY nailed what I was looking for!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ty ty ty!!! did i mention my favorite color is green?!?!?! you are a genius!
This is a great idea! Im just afraid you are a bit early with starting the trend since the first Wicked movie wont be out until November 2024. I can totally see it being a trend in between the first and second movie in 2025.
But i love the clothes you found, especially the dresses, sequin, ruffles and tassels and the tie dye skirt. I have a strong urge to find a green sequin dress on vinted now 😄
Edit: Oh and scrolling down the OZCORE pinterest board is such a joy! 💚💚💚
this is such a vibe. my wardrobe is already very ozian, being mostly royal elf/forest troll-inspired, but definitely more on the mellow, natural side. looking forward to more glamorous greens this year!
Ahh, love it! I went to my junior prom in "Esmeralda meets Oz" crazy green dress and I kindla wish I'd do it again :D
Can't wait for your movie video s ^^
Do it!!!
Love every single video, including this one… But… I think that if I hear another influencer saying the word “era” or “core” again, I think I’m gonna scream. Once again, love all your videos, this is not a critique directly intended to you.
Wasn't even aware of Wicked... And wearing a Green and teal Outfit. Partially thrifted, partially old, partially sustainable Fashion Brand. will Fall ist ozcore now.
Your maxi skirt turned dress, the mood-ring number, just gave me an idea for clip-on straps. Essentially suspenders for just your shoulders. I think it can be done!
I love this so much! The idea and the aesthetics were on point here and you gave me lots of inspiration for my own wardrobe. You also looked absolutely stunning in everything!
PS: I immediately had to think of Ozzy Osbourne with 'Ozcore', but I'm guessing that would be more 'Ozzycore' 😅
Just so you know: If you have a break-in at your house soon, and someone steals ALL of these clothes from your wardrobe... it was not me. ;-) Love this!
LOVE this concept 💚 You rocked everything, especially the faux leather coat & waistcoat looks!
all of these outfits are so freaking cute! I love them and they are so inspiring. I'm not big into green but I love the textures and combinations of different types of clothes. I'm def going to be putting a little ozcore into my outfits!
This reminds me of how, a few years ago, I decided i wanted to dress like i was in Blade Runner and i made a concerted effort to be a lot more cyberpunk in my outfits. Totally. Worth. It!
Ozcore, helenacore... Like please keep brainstorming these because I have never felt so seen by fashion as the ways you've pointed out 🥰
When i saw the sheer poofy sleeve top at 12:12 the way i started BEGGING at my screen "please pair it with the green waistcoat" and then u did and it looks splendid thank u
I love how you combined all the pieces! I’m a green loving girl 💚🐸 so they all worked for me.
I think it would be cool if we could make it so that the "seasonal" clothes that were available in physical shops reflected the actual literal seasons of the place the shop was. I live in the north of Scotland and the number of flimsy jumpers and thin coats that are in shops just now, instead of warm things is outrageous! it was - 6 C last night! im sure its spring weather for some people some where, but no here!
Leena, I LOVE these fashion videos so much. We have super different senses of style but every time I watch one of these videos I leave feeling so inspired and all around absolutely jazzed to get dressed
I live in Oz (Australia) and this is my ideal aesthetic 😂 (when it's not hot). Yesss, super green! (if you have seen the Fifth Element you know)
I've never heard of oz-core. I love green clothes. Great outfits, Leena!
Leena, all of these fits were FIRE! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
if you're taking requests, i'd love to see you do a '7 days' vogue style video (apologies if you already did one years ago, but i def want a '24 one!)
I think you’re correct that ozcore may have accurately predicted a 2024 trend, my evidence is that it’s a great way to describe the aesthetic of Taylor swift’s green sequin dress that she wore recently. Say what you want about that lady but you can’t say she doesn’t impact trends.
Ahhh I feel a tad conflicted, haha! I love absolutly everything about this, truly! But I named my son Oz... If Ozcore becomes a thing and the name gets a boost I will be a bit sad.
Absolutely love the aesthetic though!! His first Birthday party was Emerald City themed.
The 2020’s are NOT over yet!!!
I am basically rainbow pyjamas , but I want to be goblin core in the style of discworld industrial revolution ,
This looks like the Capitol fashions from Hunger Games rather than Oz, frankly. . .
Ugh. The perfect crossover Lena. I love Wicked and I love all, and I mean all, of those clothes. In my opinion, you have the best style. It speaks to me 100%. And as you speak about in some videos, age doesn’t matter 😂 I’m 30 this year and clothes STILL need to be FUN. I hâte boring clothes on myself….who would we be. Gosh. Seriously, thank you for this video. I might go back through it to try to find some of the pieces second hand. Oxcore for thé win!!!!!!!!!
That olive green snake shirt from disturbia is AMAZING!!
i'm so down for ozcore. bring it.
When you said ozcore I got so excited thinking you meant Ozzy Osborne core!!!
…but then you said Oz as in the wizard of oz and I was like ok that’s cool too😂😅
Green is gonna be on trend AGAIN ??? The next years of thrifting are going to be glorious.
Ozcore is absolutely up my alley.
(Unfortunately I don’t wear too extravagant things due to gender dysphoria, but I might at least try. I have a “bark vest” in mind, taking a meh dress shirt and covering it with stripes of brown and grey scraps. + light embroidery?. Or taking a corduroy or needlecord jacket on a light neutral colour and painting bark motifs on it with walnut and indian inks. I might do both x))
Ok, something you said just struck a cord with me. You said "fits at various sizes".
I would love a video on that. On developing a wardrobe that can accommodate weight gain and loss and possibly pregnancy. Over the course of an adult life most women's bodies fluctuate and change size and shape. I'm not talking about a massive change, but I have been 20 lbs up, 20 lbs down and 20 lbs down + pregnant.
In the hopes of buying clothing for a lifetime, wouldn't it be smart to build a wardrobe that can accommodate these changes?? Kids pants have adjustable waistbands because kids come in a variety of shapes. While i dont want adjustable waistbands ( maybe I do lol) how can we buy clothes that can adjust? More importantly how can we buy clothes that aren't sweatpants and leggings that can adjust? Could you possibly do a segment about this? It would be awesome . Thanks
I love the wicked play, but I'm not at all confident that the movie will inspire any kind of new aesthetic trend, though maybe you can do it singlehandedly. Something about that first look of Ariana Grande in that horrid prom dress during the height of the Barbie craze really rubbed me the wrong way. I'm obsessed with Wizard of Oz's Glinda, who says redheads can't wear pink? And it's such a stunning peachy pink. Then the stage play puts a blonde Glinda in blue, it's nice but less iconic imo. So why on earth did they decide to go with the most tired, overused combo of blonde and pink for this movie?? It annoys me more than it should, and I just don't like the dress at all, it's too contemporary. I wish she still had puffy sleeves at least.
Although I love the styling in the play, I wish they had taken more inspo from some of the original illustrations from the books and gone with a more art nouveau look. That's something Id love to see enter the current fashion scene.
This concept is so interesting!
I curate an Ozcore wardrobe on Vinted for fun. Some Effie-Trinket-esk things, some totally weird things and some things I can see myself wearing.
I currently do a nobuy year but if these things are still there I may buy a few.
How did you manage to make everything an absolute slay? I love this. I love layering my existing clothes to refresh how I wear them.
Green, asymetrical neck, long sleeve!! (under pleather jacket). You are wearing the sh$%t out of that.
Just had to comment : )
Personally I’m now going to base my style on Bella Baxter (Emma Stone in Poor Things), but with techwear.
I love this trend so much but I really don't suit green but maybe I could try it with pink/blue Glinda style 😮 now you've got me thinking...
I am so freaking excited for wicked! Think I’ll wear “wicked core” when I see it. I hope the cinema I work for do something like they did for Barbie (we were encouraged to wear all out pink outfits and it was so fun!)💚 I love the waist coat and the tassel dresses
I really hate to appear to be drizzling on your parade. However, if the designers and vogue were the regime than the films are much more totalitarian by giving stories along with styles that are much more engaging than the arbitrary moods of fashion. But fashion died sometime in the 1990s. The green (pun desperately needed) fashion that is your take on ozcore is such fun though.
I would argue, even as someone who loves wearing green, that we could also include some pink and white in Ozcore as a nod to Glinda. Gives the whole thing more variety and more use for relevant items that people may already own.
Hopefully some of the barbie-core outfits will be reused into glinda-core outfits. I am not a green person, but I am definitely a pink person!
that ombre dress!!!!! absolutely stunning!
do you have tips or recommendations on term to use when searching for items on places such as vinted? I always struggle with what word to use or what exaclty to search for.
Imagine if instead of Ozcore we had to settle with Brat summer
I love the shirt you are wearing in the opening. I'm obsessed with both those colours right now and who can resist stripes? Certainly not me.
anything yellow and green with the word 'oz' in it just makes me think you're being patriotic 😅 (im aussie, those are our sporting colours) 🦘
When you are watching this video having gone away to Scotland for the week and realising the entirety of the wardrobe you brought with you is accidentally Ozcore. 😂
This is amazing!!! I don’t think it was mentioned in the video, but where did you get the striped dress??? Or what brand I guess if you thrifted?
You're saying Oz Core, but my brain hears Oscorp...from Spiderman. 😂 But I'm on board with OzCore!
Such a great video! Really inspired me to be playful with my own wardrobe ❤
I realized i'm wearing a ozcore outfit accidentally while watching -- green sweatpants, a lime green shirt, and a forest green cardi -- its already a vibe i guess
As someone who watched our family’s Beta tape of Wizard of Oz to literal failure as a child, and who nearly cried in the American History Museum over the ruby slippers on display. HARD SUPPORT. ❤
Omg, this is definitely my favorite video of your closet! Loved all of the clothes, so beautiful and deep at the same time. Luches!
Very much up my street. Have you been collecting the clothes all along the way or have you been looking for them specifically?
This was lovely, now I know what I can call my bold green/white striped dungarees when people as kabout them. They were a wearable mockup on thrifted fabric and because that's been my default explanation I end up pointing out all the flaws to anyone who compliments me on them oops 😅 Now I've got much less self-deprecating answer I can give so yay!
I love this, but it's giving more frog and toad core to me...which is much more my vibe.
this is my favorite iteration of your style so far!! it really suits you. i can't wait to adopt more (secondhand) green into my wardrobe too leading up to the film release :)
I loooove the waistcoat ! 10:23
You just inspired me to make/acquire one in The future
seeing Rachel Maksy in the Goblin Core category is oddly wrong and correct at the same time
Please deepop goblins what are the key words I need for that & other stories top because its haunting me!!!
There's a Wicked FILM?!?!
Oh I'm down, many Finns got green clothes last spring because of Käärijä's outfit in Eurovision so this def needs to be a trend.
Käärijä should be a longterm trend ♡
Cha cha cha 💚
Leena, this is brilliant!! I've been thinking a bit about how the Wicked movie might inspire a few trends, at least for us theatre kids, but to go make this a thing... I'm already mentally tallying my wardrobe to see what I already have that I can use. I'm so hear for this!!
I'm so excited! I have a real pair of boots from the show that were auctioned off for charity about a decade ago. I'm clearly going to have to wear them to the cinema!
This video unlocked a side of my style I never knew existed. Ozcore is my new personality 💚💚
Leena... I just shaved off all my green hair 💔😭
I don't care if ozcore becomes a mainstream trend or not, this has made me want to throw an ozcore/oz dust themed party with my friends
Yes! Please create this trend! Would love to run with it. Several of my latest vintage 'finds' have been white (early 80s) and I foresee some emerald dyes in my future...
Oh my god, great idea and perfect timing! This weekend I will see Wicked in London, first musical of my life, and was wondering what an appropriate outfit would be, definitely found some inspiration! 😊💚
I said this last year. Green is definitely the colour.
dear leena, thank you so much for your video 🙂
There are so many items and outfits in this I would die for
The green dress at 9:33 is EVERYTHING I wish for my life. Love the marble skirt at 10:38 too! I didn't think about it until you brought it up Leena but we really were cheated out of another Roaring 20's weren't we? 😭
The long green ombre ruffle dress, amazinggggg
i love the mix of masculine and feminine styles in this video
Not my thing, but I'm here to support!
You had me at OZCORE!!!! 💚💚💚
Crooked Media is calling that 3:48 a 'monocultural moment' but the example they gave is the Superbowl LOLZ
that bottle green sheer top is the blueprint truly
Love this. Have you seen the knitting pattern for the Hobbiton Vest? Would look faboulous in your Oz Core wardrobe!
Waistcoats are so underrated!!!
I am very much onboard and full steam ahead on this amazing Oz train 😍
That shade of khaki looks terrific on you.
Love this concept...while it's not exactly my style it's encouraged me to think deeper about how to be proactive instead of following trends...THANK YOU!!!
AMAZING OUTFITS!
Honestly, I think I've been practicing in low-key, boarderline ozcore for the past few years. Not so much green, but definitely the grungy, glam, 20s classic mix of aesthetics.
i loveeee the outfits
I love your writing for these personal fashion choices videos, it turns them into such happy-making causes celebres!!
This feel like your grown up wardrobe in The way that you wanted helacore to be. It feels fun but still polished.
Leena, I LOVE this video, this idea, this aesthetic choice!! And I’m so excited to partake with a velvety-looking pair of emerald overalls I own!! 🍀🐸🪲🐛🐢
