Idea: Is it possible to do some terrain work between the bottom and top layer and make a cave like entrance with the Batmobile entering. I feel like little hidden spaces and areas of secret interests make cities even greater !!
Hey Kev, do you have any nearby woodworker friends? A buddy with a table saw or circular saw could trim that large board to exact measurements, so it fits flush to the back wall, or the front edge of your table. And what if you connected the new board to the existing 'plank' board on one edge? Then it wouldn't slide on you. Fancy = glue and wooden biscuits. Simple = a layer of duct tape.
Simple sounds like something I can manage! Not sure what this "friends" is that you mention though! I'm a 40-something autistic nerd, I know about 6 people, and most of them are related to me!
I seem to recall from other videos (AFOL TV) that curving track across roads is possible but involves non-Lego 3D printed parts and isn’t ideal in terms of configuration of junctions or fitting with base plates. Could you have the road turn onto the new section but continue to track straight, having a level crossing, and then under the ‘staircase’ to the top level? Your plan might work as you’re not planning to go across a road but worth considering. City is looking great by the way! Can’t believe how quickly the space has filled up.
I’m literally just about to board all of my loft out and put a load of shelving in. Our loft is a fair size it’s 5meters x 3meters. Hopefully it will make a nice Lego space to house everything.
Happy accidents, I would lower the thin table if wheels can be removed. Then place in the middle, build a a river or lake and harbour it will allow the buildings to be the outer frame.
Do you build module sets on to their bottom plate then mount it to the mils plate? Or do you pull the top plate on the mils and use the sets bottom plate in the mils top plates place?
Baseplates can’t be attached to other plates or baseplates. So the mils plate is built onto the baseplate, then the build goes on top of that. There’s a tutorial here on the channel
Hi Kev, I really want to thank you, I have been following your football manager account for a while now because you are just so much fun to watch, but unexpected you creation of this new account came along with myself falling in love with lego again. As a kid my favorite presents were getting a new lego set and building them with my nephews. At the moment I don’t have the budget myself to buy legos (renovating a house) but your videos are something I look forward to, on a daily base. I really enjoy seeing you both being excited every time in a shop, a convention or on a reveal day and hope to one day meet you on one of these occasions. Thank you both for all the smile on your videos (on this channel and on your regular channel) Best regards, A big fan from Belgium Forza Wembley :)
Hi! I would get rid of the bookcase , because in this table layout you blocked it and won't be able to use it in a comfortabe way. Do the extension on the other end to gain more space for a bigger beach area. I don't know why you want a tv on the wall, it is not very good for the eyes to watch it from about 60cms in a long term...
I've started planning my city ready for the move later this year. After doing winter villages for the last few years, the one thing I know I want is full lighting in my city, have you got any plans for lighting ?
I'm still deciding whether to make my subway into two underground levels, just to make the stations seem further away from each other... My airport will occupy almost half of my layout on the surface... Big planes, big airport. Three subway trains ready for action, with a fourth planned for a future upgrade to the system.
Bout to start my final year in education in September with 3rd year of uni and I’m struggling with the urge not to blow my student loan in Lego 😂 Bearing in mind id have to move it out anyway once I graduate!
I hope that future Kev severely reprimanded past Kev, for not telling him the plan for which way round the tables were going!?!? (Can I just ask what sort of mic you use? - your audio is always so good, even when you’re moving around.)
@@blockpartyuk I've just looked them up, they seem nice bits of kit. I only asked 'coz you often have a small square in the middle of your T-shirt, and I wondered if you'd found a super small mic, as it seems a lot smaller than the DJI.
I always feel awful when I make a mistake, but in the last few years I've finally realised the phrase "we all make mistakes" is not just a truism, it's a guarantee. And some mistakes by others are stratospheric compared to my dumb oversights. Anyway, Kev, we are all human, and we all make mistakes.
It's getting there, plus I'm sure most of us have made mistakes like that, I certainly have! One option for the lights is something like Philips Hue, you can just leave the light switches on (and there are smart plugs you can use for the stand up lights). Those straight metal brackets (ones with 4 or 6 screw holes and short screws) might work for joining the wood, if there is space to fit them on the underside where it overlaps the table. I used some to join two Ikea tables and they hold quite sturdy. Here's a really awful attempt at what they look like !! : --------------------------------------- | O O O O O O | --------------------------------------- P.S. took me until the end of the video to notice the Toni Storm T-shirt! 👍
Loving this whole process…
We try…
We make mistakes…
We move on.
But really enjoying every step of the progress 👌👏👏👏

Ooh, now that’s an idea!

The city is coming along nicely, especially when the room size is smaller. Maybe move the beach area to the newer tables?.
A few people have mentioned that now, and I'm definitely coming around to the idea!
I think you are going to have to move house and get a bigger room 😂
But then I’ll have to move all the Lego!
Do we need to send you a tape measure? Open up that P.O. Box and we'll flood it with them.
Do you build module sets on to their bottom plate then mount it to the mils plate? Or do you pull the top plate on the mils and use the sets bottom plate in the mils top plates place?

Please go back and watch this in a year!!
The mistakes will shape your Lego city, I can't wait to see where you end up
Where did you get the short legs for the raised platforms?
Amazon. But any DIY shop would have them.

Very kind of you to say, thanks!
I feel like all the hours of problems would of been solved with 2 minutes effort with a tape measure 😂
You’re adorable 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂the head scratching confusion is endlessly entertaining!
Glad you enjoyed!

I want the TV to make it easier when I stream in here. It would be used as a monitor rather than a TV
@blockpartyuk could you not just use a 24/27" monitor, or is it because you already have a TV so just want to make use of it?
Yeah, we already have the TV, so seems wasteful to buy a monitor
@@blockpartyuk fair enough, I thought I had heard you say it was a tv you already had.
I've started planning my city ready for the move later this year. After doing winter villages for the last few years, the one thing I know I want is full lighting in my city, have you got any plans for lighting ?
I do, but not at this stage because it’s so expensive to do and I’m spending all my money on the Lego currently!
@@blockpartyuk That's what I thought until I started looking into it
I'm still deciding whether to make my subway into two underground levels, just to make the stations seem further away from each other... Nice!
Think we’re gonna need a bigger boat…

The TV could cover the light switch if you put a smart bulb in so you can app control it instead…
I hope that future Kev severely reprimanded past Kev, for not telling him the plan for which way round the tables were going!?!?
(Can I just ask what sort of mic you use? - your audio is always so good, even when you’re moving around.)
Most of the time it’s a DJI Mic 2.
@@blockpartyuk I've just looked them up, they seem nice bits of kit. I only asked 'coz you often have a small square in the middle of your T-shirt, and I wondered if you'd found a super small mic, as it seems a lot smaller than the DJI.
Maybe a smart bulb would solve your light switch issue.

I remind myself the videos would be a lot less interesting and relatable if I just did everything perfectly first time!
Put the TV under the table 😎
I’ve always wanted a little den!
Rather than train, how about make it a tram! it will be shorter than a train model and will look better on the road!
Yeah, I’ll be getting the new tram set in August so will likely use that
Cool idea u should use the hogwarts express as the train
Your definitely about to start looking at moving house aren't you 😂
But then I’d have to move all this Lego…
Into a new bigger city though kev...I can definitely see this hobby going the bricksie direction. Lego is like pokemon, gotta catch them all.
Dog poo bins have saved a fortune in brown Lego 😛

2 minutes after saying he needs to start measuring stuff, kev says “the door SHOULD still open!” 🤦♂️
Measuring is for cowards!
Tv
How can a human be this inefficient and defective at measuring or understanding their spacial requirements.
Can it be called inefficient and defective measuring when no measuring actually took place?
You’ll only be annoyed at yourself for not doing the right thing.
