@@Livinlegend26 there is a crowd that was disappointed by Ultimate (didn’t fix enough for them and arguably broke certain characters and made others dumber) I feel like that makes sense why MvC3 players are so accepting of character mods. And I’m ok with character swap UMvC3 and Smash Remix being the definitive versions of those games. And obviously another crowd that was disappointed by Marvel3 in general and felt it is just TvCxMarvel. Just as there were people who said MvC2 was an easy unserious baby 4button game. Naysayers existed in every era.
I was into modding MVC2 ALOT back in the day. I did a few things - I removed the air dash counter, so you can just air dash over and over in the air. Like the ROM infinite from Magneto in mid air lol. I removed Cable's gun shot counter, so instead of 3, you could do 30. My favorite one though...I found a place in memory where you could change what move came out when you called an assist. So instead of just the 3 different moves, you could have your assist character come out and do virtually any of their moves. They still taunted after and everything. The best part of it though was it was dynamic. That means you come in with sent, do his upwards rocket punch, tag him out, and every assist call to Sent would be an upwards rocket punch after that. It lets you CHOOSE which of your moves to use for your assist character in real time. I'm assuming that was something put in by the developers as a way to test different moves for assists in the middle of the game. But it would seem they left it in ;) Another one I was messing with was changing moves to have a longer "stay on your back" flag. So technically you could change enough where ALL moves deadbody, and you stay on the ground on your back for as long as I want you to. So like...marvel 3 level OTG setups and such. Same as when the match is over and you're beating up on their corpse lol
I wanted to make MVC2 "Combo Edition" for years, but life started getting in the way and it became more and more of a "whenever I can" project that's basically stagnant. Now that i see people are doing stuff with it and it's popped back up into the main stream, I'd love to help. If somebody knows who made this edit and how I can contact them, I can give them all of my work so they can drop it in their version.

On the one hand, Morrigan can have Eternal Slumber again.
But on the other, Chun-Li gets Shichisei Senkukyaku back.
Modding can be a blessing as it is a curse.

@@begcoins ^^^^This. Considering how projectile heavy MvC2 was from the jump, anything that characters with weaker projectiles (i.e., the whole Capcom casr aside from MegaMan) could use to balance things out was sorely needed, and terribly missed in this case.

They obviously would need to buff all the low-tier and mid-tier characters, not just M. Bison, since we all know Sentinel, Storm, Magneto are too OP!
That means my Wolverine (steel claw) is going to be much better to play in this modded MVC2 version 🥰

Always loved M. Bison (Vega - owned the Japanese Saturn version) on Marvel vs Street Fighter. I was very disappointed when I felt he got weakened in Marvel vs Capcom 2. Glad to see him get his glory again in this mod.
US names/Japanese names Community Names
M. Bison/Vega is Dictator.
Balrog/M. Bison is Boxer.
Vega/Balrog is Claw.
The new era of mvc2 has begun! Now we can have communities like mvc3.

What they need to do is to include the 4 character they forgot to include. Mephisto, US agent, Anita, Lilith
If you look at the roster the idea was to include everyone from mvc series, including msh and xcota as mvc series.
Anita from darkstalkers is at MSH
Lilith form darkstalkers is at MVC
Assuming war machine and iron man are different characters (they added war machine at mvc because the lack of iron man license at the time):

US Agent from MVSF
I disagree with the idea of using clone chars, and Lilith only if it's the real sprite from DS3/VSAV. Anita is fine. Just like I'm against War Machine unless his moveset is fairly altered... Not like classic Ryu x Ken, more like the level of difference of SF6 Ryu x Ken.
And gold war machine with he super armor?

The fact that this game (and the others in the series) still gets people excited is a big reason why they need to do whatever it takes to make a collection on PS5, Steam, Switch, Xbox, etc a thing.
I won't rest until I get an airdash Juggernaut.
Ohhh man we needed this so bad. Bison specifically needs more, I wish he had his full screen Psycho Crusher from Alpha 3 as a level 3 Super.
Finally. I knew MVC2 mods was eventually gonna happen. Pretty sick! Maybe one day they can add in Guy, Yun, Fei-Long and some of the SF Alpha/Zero characters in at some point and possibly Sean from SFIII as well. Not to mention the MVC hidden character variants? Pretty dope to think about the possibilities. I’d call the the next mvc2 mods Super MVC2, then Ultra MVC2 😁 haha

Same. The fact they gave her a double jump but prevented her from using Beat Plane in the air hurts me. I don’t even care her health is horrible, I just want her to not be unplayable lol

I would love for them to do a Project M style mod for MvC2 and just really balance it--while also adding a ton of cool things, of course.
I've always wondered about a modded or 're-balanced' version of MvC2, kind of like 'New Legacy' for Super Turbo. Glad to see someone is finally making it happen. I just it gets a chance to shine. New Legacy is still relatively obscure.
To think how CRAZY it would be to add and make the roster more huge like UMVC3

They should add all the characters from earlier Marvel games, like children of the atom and such, along with all the SF Alpha characters, the sprites and animations are in the same style so they would fit in nicely.
All playable characters from previous Capcom-made Marvel games are already in MvC2. The only exceptions are repaints, Anita, and that Japanese comedian.

Dude... if MvC4 happened and they had the actual good roster... I would pay so many donos to see JWong competing on it.
A new MVC would most likely be like MVCI though, as a forced decision from above. Because MCU is the face of the franchise, and not the heroes' classic design which is what the MVC players want. So it's a very problematic dilemma.

Dhalsim is top tier. He just isn’t in the god tier.
Now if somebody could just implement the mod to model 3 where everybody gets the heroes in Herold's card that allows everyone to airdash/double jump then that would be nice
They can implement a whole new meta to the game. So now you don't have to be reliant on Magneto all day since everybody in the game can Air dash. Not an eight-way airdash but it still changes how the game is played. This is what made tatanoko versus Capcom. So fun!
add MP and MK as their own separate buttons for gods sake, and more than 1 roll recovery distance

Fun fact: Skullgirls had modeled its infinite protection on MvC2 so lights would add more and heavies less (mediums and specials somewhere in the middle, supers add nothing). But that was much worse for Skullgirls (as it was MUCH easier to chain heavies together at the beginning of combos for much better damage scaling), so it was reversed.
I've always said that an updated MvC2.2 and a new entry in the SF3 series would be easy money for Capcom, and the FGC would go nuts for them.

Sentinel should have its super armor and normals doing block damage removed. No reason why Colossus doesn't have super armor but Sentinel does. In the comics Colossus would crush a sentinel easily.
The mod turned Bison into a competitive character and I like it.
Hope they buff my boy Hayato. Definitely needs his DP to be better. His assist DP needs some definite invulnerability frames.
Hayato needs his plasma field to actually allow him to extend his combos like in Plasma Sword. I don't think people can add his sword extension, and reversal tools since that would require a lot more work but it would be nice to see Hayato with his full moveset since in MVC2 he doesn't have all of his moves.
I still, somewhere, have a burned modded mvc2 disc, the one with the Missy Elliot song on the character select lol. It always eventually soft locks though, its all good, thought that counts hehe

I would love to see a low and mid tier buffed mod. Don’t touch the top tiers at all but buff and give new moves to the low and mids.

Yeah it needs 6 button HML Punch and Kicks, Morrigan needs Eternal Slumber Back, same with Chun-Li's Shichisei Senkuu Kyaku. Secret characters from MVC1 need to be put back in as well, such as Shadow Lady, Red Venom, Orange Hulk, Gold War Machine, Roll. Zangief's Double Atomic Buster needs to be put in

So this video of the modded MVC2 alters the properties of what the fighter has, and M.Bison is just the start but NOT considered complete after it's been applied.
So can it also adjusted the hitbox and hurtbox of those fighters' properties just to make them comboable? And what about the amount of damage applied on special moves, Hyper Combos, command moves and even normal attacks that can be chained into whatever you think of it possible?
The game should include 3 punches and 3 kicks, and air combos should be easy like the old Marvel games. If you're going to make a mod, don't forget these!

Ah, I guess he was, weird, I must have never used him. I usually played zangief, dhalsim, sentinal, sonson, the cactus guy, the samurai guy, and the 4 armed chick, I played everybody my friends never used.

Game still has a strong competitive scene (level of play is insane). If you’re saying it can compete with current fighters after this update……modded games have never done well on the big stage. Devs tend to scream about that.

Ive always thought it would be cool to get a rebalance of Marvel 2. Something to push up some of the really cool low-tiers towards viability.
Ive always thought it would be sick if modern releases (if we were lucky enough for them to exist) would have a mode that received semi regular updates like a modern game, in addition to the original.
I've had mixed emotions thinking about when the day would come where the code would be cracked for the game mechanics & attributes.
This could put more life into the game & its community long term, or it could go warp into a complete black hole that will just destroy a lot of things around it. Or at the very least hugely dilute the original MvC2 formula in spirit: devolve more into MUGEN rather than a "true" MvC2 successor.
These past months-at-a-time hiatuses for the past couple of years, I keep contemplating whether to give life to all of my MvC2 video & community projects I've been wanting to do for 10 years or so, or just letting go and never look back and focus on other creative endeavors.
BUT I see they cracked the code. I see at a clear urgent sign. But I don't know if this is a sign that this is the beginning of the end and for me to let go, or if it's the complete opposite sign that I need to jump on board and start my MvC2 projects journey before things devolve really bad.
I hope the community comes out with MvC version of project M. Honestly, mvc2 is my favorite fighter i wouldnt need mvc4
