I’m sure I’d enjoy this. I’m a lighter peat guy. I will start seeking this bottle. Enjoy!!!
I hope you have luck finding it. Cheers!
I don't believe I've had Kilkerran before, however, my local store manager came in big recently and got me a bottle of Springbank 10 and 15. I plan on opening them up this Sunday when he comes over for a tasting I'm doing.
That should be a good time. If you get a chance to taste a Kilkerran I suggest you try it. They have a "heavily peated" version that is good as well.
I love this Kilkerran a lot Peter! I’m also in a Bourbon cask mood lately! Terrific thoughts!! Much appreciated and enjoyed!! I have a couple of these put away! I am find with the price! This one really appeals to me! Cheers!
I'm good with the price as well. The further I get away from the review the more I'm fine with the price. I'm at my sister's house right now and she was surprised I didn't bring it to her house to try. She actually sounded disappointed. She does not even like peat, but was willing to try it. I'll bring it next time. 🤪
Kilkaren will always have a home in my cabinet.
But none currently.
So I'll put some An Oa in my glass.
Kilkerran is always available in my area like the Springbank. Not sure why. I know other areas hardly see them, but I've never not seen them.
@whiskeyisajourney ... jealous. My market, not available.
Great review buddy, a brilliant example of how great and flexible Kilkerran can be. All aboard the ex-bourbon train! Cheers.
I'm running to that train. I like this one more than the sherry matured offering.
I would definitely like to try it. But as a bottle to buy, its hard to over look the other great options in that price range. Thanks for thr great review, I always look forward to your videos. Cheers 🥃
Thanks. I understand that the price tag is high. If you can find it at a bar definitely try it. Cheers!
When I toured glengyle and springbank. Both tours leave from springbanks gift shop. The glengyle distillery uses the same floor malted barely from springbank. But the distillation process is more mechanical and computer based and ran by just a few ppl (1-2). glengyle is truly just a distillery. All the employees and business is all springbank. You walk through springbank to get to glengyle.
I hope to visit very soon. It's on my bucket list.
This sat on the shelves in my area for along time. Like >8 months. I kept holding out for the sherry. I ended up getting to try the 8 year CS, the port… when visiting springbank. and now I’m kicking myself for not buying the bourbon one you have. Never seen it again since once if finally sold. I’m just a big everything springbank fan
Bummer! Keep an eye out for the next release. I think it's worth it.
You nailed it! Great review!
Cheers 🥃
You're right on the money about the palate development throughout the journey. I was gravitating more toward Sherry for a while and then felt like I was going more toward ex-bourbon profile. Now I am somewhere in the middle depending on the time and sometimes the season. My experience so far tells me that some sherry bottles are going to be skip in the future same as some ex-bourbon ones will also be a skip. Given the market dynamics, I suppose it's a good thing both to avoid getting bottles that I don't need and at the same time stay budget conscious.
I am staying budget conscious so for in 2024. I bought 1 bottle at the start of the year (Russell's Reserve store pick from Trevor's Liquor) and nothing since. Let's see how long that lasts.
Cheers🥃
Right back at you. Cheers!
$250 for the 8 year old when I can buy the 12 year for $100 on line? It's crazy for a younger whisky with higher ABV.
Seems higher prices just because of the ABV is a big mistake. It's nuts!
$250? Yes...that's nuts.
It used to be available here for around €70,- up until recently. It's anywhere between €110-150 now. 🙄
