I'm an American, so I am surprised that I feel this promo from a government-run Canadian network, which I would assume would be pretty tame and conservative in presentation relative to promos from U.S. networks, outdid the 1990 network promos for all four of the broadcast networks in the U.S. in its shameless embrace of and eccentric expression of "1990-ness." I never would have never expected the CBC to do a promo which included dance crews, "hip" adaptations of old songs, quick-cut frames which give off flashing effects, and the requisite (for American network promos) clips of cast members of different shows sitting on a uniform set either laughing at one another or making various reactions to the camera.
@@Reed488 Since CBC airs commercials and acts as a pseudo commercial broadcaster they were probably trying to pull of a promo set better than their main competitor CTV (who at the time used a smilar slogan CTV We're tuned into you) to rake in some of those sweet ad dollars. Both promos from CTV and CBC seem very 90s but CBC definately went all in with the 90s while CTV went for a more American style promo..

CBC was excellent throughout the 80's and early 90's.
