I love your point about the political plot being mishandled and cheapened. I also agree, I think the romance is the point of the story overall and the best part about the series. It would have been a perfect love story to me if Feyre actually broke up with Tamlin. I knew her note would be seen as mind-control, or completely faked. I was disappointed Tamlin and Feyre never had an outright confrontation, turned conversation about their romance ending. I think Tamlin was treated unfairly. He wasn't a good partner, but that doesn't mean he stopped being a generally good person (until he randomly aligned with Hybern to "save" Feyre). Idk, Tamlin's whole character is more misunderstood than Rhys claims to be. I feel so bad for him after finishing the first 10 chapters of ACOWAR.
I'm curious what you, or anyone else thought about the mate concept. I don't understand how that works between immortals and mortals.

Okay, I wholeheartedly agree with your Tamlin sympathy. After finishing ACOWAR, I feel so bad for the dude. I also agree that Feyre should have had an actual conversation of breaking up with him. She should have addressed the anger issues and why she stopped loving him. She left things so open-ended and then showed up married and mated the next time they really spoke. If she had actually broken up with him the right way, he wouldn’t have invited Hybern into his court most likely. So, girl could have prevented Hybern getting the upper hand in a war with just some conflict resolution skills.
I am just as lost as you are with Fae being mates to humans. Makes zero sense to me and is most likely a world-building inconsistency. Because if that happened to more people than just the main character, the wall between humans and fae would not last. Sounds like a logical flaw to me. But it also packs an emotional punch, so maybe it’s forgivable.

    Hello there!❤️
I love this analysis and breakdown! Im so glad SJM fandom is mainstream now because I read her as a really young teen so she will always have a place in my heart❤️
As a early fan however, Im actually one of the few people who did not enjoy ACOMAF-mainly because of Rhys LOL (I know, unpopular opinion😅). I found him frustrating when he would gatekeep things from Feyre and just the whole angsty “i had good intentions, trust me” didnt convince me. I also never really understood their sexual tension? To me, there was more friendship then sexual chemistry and thats why I wasn’t digging it haha😅 I know Tamlin was awful, but I feel there was genuine sexual attraction there that I just didn’t experience with Rhys and also Rhys just seemed so contradictory in his virtue signalling 😭 I preferred Rhys in book 1 aswell as he had more depth and mystery and I enjoyed his villainous charades lol. The friendship between them was more wholesome too, before the sex. I feel like if SJM had just made them friends (with a hint of potential romantic feelings, but left it open) and he helped her heal and vice versa, I would have enjoyed it WAY more. The overt flirting aswell was so cheesy I couldn’t 😭Im part of the Rhys-hate bandwagon but apart from that, I LOVE the other characters and their union together🥲

WOW! This is a hot take if I have ever seen one. Personally, I adore the romantic chemistry between them, BUT I liked it the most when it was in the friendship stage. As soon as they actually got together, all the tension was gone. So, i agree that their friendship stage was the best stage, but I liked that it was a “will-they, won’t-they” dynamic. Either way, thank you for sharing your controversial opinion 😂 I loved it
