I echo the other comments thanking you for the distraction today. I was very pleased to see this new video waiting for me today. I also received 5 new books in the mail from the UK this week, plus 1 new audiobook. They are all my kind of cinnamon bun books: cozy crime, cozy Christmas crime, and some not so cozy crime. These things really allow me to settle in and forget some of the problems in the world for a while. I think if I did book haul revisits, the one for next month would be the big one. I never escape London without a bag of books and my list is already long for this year’s trip. It will be fun though. Hope you, Joel, and Teddy are doing as well as you can after the catastrophe.
Thinking about you and Joel. Seeing your video was such a comfort, and I’m sure so many feel the same. I actually started crying, so many pent up emotions. But don’t feel obligated, please take the time and give yourself the space to grieve and deal with all the emotions around this catastrophe. I’ve been trying to find the best way to explain to my child how half the country could accept a man who wishes they didn’t exist and used ads that were so hateful. I’m donating to The Trevor Project and the ACLU, it’s not much but it’s something. Like Kamala said, we’ll “fill the sky with the light of…optimism, of faith, of truth and service.” There are so many bright lights in this country. I hope you’re able to find comfort in the people you love, and all the people who love you, and keep your beautiful light burning. ❤
Thank you for carrying on with videos. They are comforting and distracting. For me, I think being absorbed in what I enjoy is grounding and I enjoy reading and watching your videos.
I wish I could give you the same gift back. I find most music has helped. All except the folk music from the 1960s early 1970s. Bon courage to you both.
I do appreciate the distraction, thank you. Like so many others, I am having a hard time this week. I know I am privileged in the sense that I am a straight cis white male, but I fear for all women, I fear for all of my friends and family in the LGBTQIA+ community. I don't know how to go through another four years of all the hate and anxiety. That's why I am grateful for sources of light, like your channel.
That’s Greg as always. I would Prioritize The Color of Water. It’s inspiring, hopeful and a good read for this troubled times. They are some difficult spots but still uplifting. To make you feel better I still have the hardcover Witness still waiting to be read.
thank you for the video, my husband and I are "going through" our books (total collection is the final goal) this weekend. So far, an unhaul of 12books for two bookcases - almost all books both of us have read, or one of has read and the other passes on keeping it for the future. So, this revisit was actually timely for me this morning. Best to you on future book hauls.
I find so much comfort in just spending a small part of my day with you! It's also amazing to know so many of us are in our feelings and just need to think about something else.
I too thought of you, my Montana book friends. I am still in shock and also very glad that I live in Mexico where I am treated much better as an immigrant than the States treats theirs!
Daisy Fay and the Miracle Man is the perfect cinnamon bun book. I read it when it was published in the 1980s under the original title, Coming Attractions. It has lots of funny, cute moments. And how can you resist a book with characters named Pickle and Mustard?
You've got a boatload great potential reads there. I'd call it a very successful month. A small handful didn't interest me much, but there was only one (personal) 'nope'. Glad to see the Munro in there even with the posthumous controversy.
Thank you for the distraction. Thinking of you and Joel and sending love. I adored Mr Loverman by Bernadine Evaristo. Hope you can get to that one soon. ❤
The only book that balms the hurt “It's like the great stories, Mr. Frodo, the ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were, and sometimes you didn't want to know the end because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad has happened? But in the end, it's only a passing thing this shadow, even darkness must pass. A new day will come, and when the sun shines, it'll shine out the clearer. I know now folks in those stories had lots of chances of turning back, only they didn't. They kept going because they were holding on to something. That there's some good in this world, Mr. Frodo, and it's worth fighting for” - Samwise Gamgee
Thanks for doing this Greg. BTW, given the election results in the USA, I decided my act of rebellion as a Canadian unable to vote in US elections, is to find every book banned in now five different States and either buy or read them. Thus today I am starting with "The Miseducation of Cameron Post"...which btw is based in Montana. I was wondering if you have read it? It sounds delightful and was a finalist in the William C. Morris debut award (American Library Association).
Thank you for the distraction as we mourn. 💙
Taking a break from screaming into the void to watch your video. Thanks for taking the time out to post.

I appreciate the time you put into giving us a distraction today. You are a bright spot in my day. Thanks again.
Thank you ❤❤❤
I appreciate you getting back at it. Maybe, I let things take two days of my life - but no more. Moving forward💪🏽
I recommend you read The Leopard
thank you so much for the distraction. I hope you are doing lots of self care during this time. Sending love to you and Joel from Boston!
Books are a comfort. 😔 The Yellow Wallpaper is fabulous - in the category of most creepy.
Thanks for keeping on. I thought of your family after results and was hoping all was okay ❤
I wish I could give you the same gift back. I find most music has helped. All except the folk music from the 1960s early 1970s. Bon courage to you both.
Keep calm-ala and carry on-ala.😊

Rules of Civility is a great book. Hopefully it will be made into a film someday.

Mr Loverman has now been made by BBC into series.

Thank you 💙 needed this
The Seven Moons of Mali Almeida was great on audio
thanks it has been tough
Mr. Loverman could also be a good book to read right now - it has emotional depth but overall it’s a very heartwarming book ❤
For each haul book you didn’t read, we officially pardon you.😁

Was thinking about you after the election. We will be okay
Giant kudos to you, Greg -- thank you for this. What a time to be an American, eh? 🙄 😭😭😭
