end of an era...start of a new one. Bookshelves look amazing
I still bet Jack read more in his September reading 'slump' than I have in the past 6 years
Haha I was thinking the same thing 😅
Same ! 😂
i can't believe no one on youtube is talking about magnetic aura from Talesio
Jack expanded his bookshelves and immediately needs to expand again 😂
Love the new bookshelves!!
woah... and i thought your last bookshelves were hawt. This bookshelf is as aesthetic as the quaint glow of a candle.
definitely gonna need a bookshelf tour !!!
Just read "Hidden Manifestation" by Oliver Mercer and I can’t believe it’s so underrated. Methods in this book are next level, it needs more attention!
Intermezzo is my favourite Sally Rooney so far, it feels like shes fully come into her style
new library looking hugeeeeeeeeeee
Jack, I’m so glad you’re reading Clarice Lispector! I’m Brazilian, and she’s one of my favorite authors. Don’t worry, her books are a bit challenging and require focus and attention, even in Portuguese. My favorite book of hers is An Apprenticeship or The Book of Pleasures. It tells a love story that ultimately leads the character on a journey of self-discovery and understanding of her inner world. If you’re looking for another book of hers to read, this one is absolutely fantastic!
a TV show??? OMG I CANT WAIT
The space looks so beautiful!! I think that "being the best version of ourselves" requires the insight that you already exhibit ... beyond that, you can know that, because we are living with ourselves all the time, we are not always the most objective observers. You sound like a most (emotionally) intelligent person - so kind, considerate, respectful, and creative - please don't worry about anything! There is no pressure - the world becomes a better place when kindness is introduced to her days - you are already doing that (offering people such encouraging content)! Your videos have helped so many of us for a long time - and you deserve to know that! Considering these facts, you can know, as well, that when you feel good doing something, this simultaneously indicates that you are offering your best. The very best wishes and thank you always.
This is such a sweet and eloquent comment, and I completely agree! 🫶🏻
This is an awesome comment! 🩷
This is such a beautiful, kind and encouraging comment ❤
"I'm on a reading slump" [proceeds to read Clarice Lispector] man I wish to get to that level
Oh dude, that Clarice Lispector book was such an incredible reading experience
She is a master of her craft, its mind-blowing
SALLY ROONEY STAN HEREE
i am halfway through intermezzo and its wrenching me heart🌟😭
Are we all just in a reading slump this October?
Y e s
Me too. I've DNF'd so much. It's rough.
This September was definitely the king of reading slump for me too, but Sally Rooney I believe will be the queen of getting us back to reading ❤❤❤❤
your bookshelves look stunning 📙📘🥬!!! happy birthday jack 🎂 !!!!
Jack it’s like you knew I was in a slump too, perfect timing
happy birthday jack, your presence on booktube is so special :) also these seem like such great books and they also look very satisfying to hold??
Happy birthday Jack!
For a spookier read, you could try Zyranna Zateli's "At Twilight They Return." Zateli is one of the great Greek writers, and in this seminal work, she blends the morbid, the mythical, and the sexual beautifully through a family saga set in 1900s Macedonia. A slow burn that's very rewarding.
These bookshelves are a DREAM it looks so good
Can I say WOW!? The shelves are beautiful!!!! I love the wooden look and you were right about the dark colour!!!
Ooooh wishing you have had the sweetest of birthdays, wishing you a year full of love, ispiration and smiles🌷🌻🌷🌹
OMG! You’re book shelves are STUNNING! ❤❤😊😊
We need a bookshop tour!! They look so good🥰 congrats on the new place
OMG the new bookshelves!! Love it
Sally Rooney’s new book is great, I’m 1/4 of the way through it atm and am absoloutely loving it!
Happy belated birthday, Jack! 🎉 The new book shelves look amazing! ❤😍 Enjoy the books, I hope they help you get out of the slump. Most of these books are also already on my (ever expanding) TBR, except for the Clarice Lispector one. I own Butter, have put Intermezzo on hold at my library and am planning to buy Stoneyard Devotional sometime soon, as it's not available at my library.
Happy birthday Jack, good seeing you again :)
the bookshelves look good! i love the colour.
Looks like you’re getting settled in and have organized your bookshelves. They look lovely.
love seeing you reading clarice lispector! as a brazilian, it’s super cool to see such a brilliant author being celebrated internationally
I was in a reading slump for years…after reading 1000’s of books in my lifetime I just found everything predictable. I got myself out of it by reading with more intention. I’ve started annotating and reading up to 4 books at the same time (usually always listening to an audiobook also, in the car, gym, dishes, etc., something I never liked). I’ve resparked my interest and with your help, have found authors I love like Rooney and Orange that make me think in new ways. Sometimes a slump is necessary, particularly when it’s your work. I think your audio is fine btw and love the new space.
I didn't realize the new bookshelf from the last video. Love it and also the wide lens.
Oomg the new Bookshelves look so nice 🥹😍
Happy belated birthday then🎉
Welcome to the 26 gang! ❤
Happy personal new year! Waving from forty years down the road.
Knock, knock! Happy Belated Birthday Jack 💙🌼!!! also, a very specific book recommendation: needed !!
(plus the bookshelves... wow!!!)
First of all I just wanna take a moment to say how much I love the way you are just so humble and kind around people and how you just manage you humourously witty side around like.. aahhh, uk like it can just be seen in your eyes while you just keep going on with that smile, and I think that's just beautiful! 💙
Now coming back to to book rec... one for a teenage girl who mostly reads classics and likes depessing writings which have alot of hidden joy (that will be me) but now wants to read something fresh but similar, like a book from a brand new author maybe that still holds alot of meaning...?
Love love love your new background!! This era looks so aesthetic
the new bookshelves are so beautiful omg
the new space looks amazing
Love the new place! I can't wait to read Intermezzo!!
Aaaaa what a big space! You could even add more bookshelves if you need to
I'm so glad you are reading Clarice Lispector ... thank you and hope you love it s2
this format really suits me
Oh my god I can’t wait for you to read Betty!!!!!! An absolute favorite. The opening line of the first chapter lives rent free in my head.
“A girl comes of age against the knife. She must learn to bear its blade. To be cut. To bleed. To scar over and still, somehow, be beautiful and with good enough knees to take the sponge to the kitchen floor every Saturday.”
omggggg i can't wait for Jack's review on Intermezzo!!! 😆
I really enjoyed Husbands. Even though it was light and fun, it ended up having a pretty profound message by the end. With the premise it obviously sounds really silly but it slowly progresses to the Kafkaesque. I'm really looking forward to hearing what you think about it!
the new bookshelves are so gorg!
Happy belated birthday, Jack!
I hope you had a great day :)
You speak so beautifully. I’m so excited to see your thoughts on intermezzo! No rush though. Love how you said reading is a sacred experience.
The book shelves look amazing...
happy birthday!!
So early that there's a typo in the title 😂
I've had some amazing reads this year, no reading slump yet, but not trying to jinx it, knock on wood haha.
Currently reading Vicious by V. E. Schwab, my first of her books. It's pretty solid so far!
Love the new library!❤
oooh...i cant wait to check these out for myself. i just finished Joanne Harris's 'Blackberry Wine'. it was so cozy, very delightful and warm.
Well first off... HAPPY BIRTHDAY JACK! I hope you have a wonderful new year, and a great new trip around the sun. We love our internet resident librarian. :)
Second, fun video! I thought the setting was your new place, but I wasn't sure. It looks great!
Incredible books Jack hope you love and enjoy them in October ❤😊😊❤
So those are the new bookshelves, huh? As Leonie of thebookleo would say: Let your books breathe! Leave some space! Put a little plant in there and maybe some LED candles! 😂
Love the new shelves!
it's 3 am here lol, but I'm always ready for your videos 📚 ❤
I LOVE THE BOOKSHELVES!!
Stoneyard Devotional is wonderful ❤
IS THIS HIS NEW SHELF??? WOW
its hard to put into words, but the book Magnetic Aura from Talesio completely changed my life. i recommend everyone reading this to read it
Warmly recommend Alan Moore's newly released "The Great When" as a Halloween read. The grimy 1949 London setting is such a vibe and Moore's rich and humorous prose jumps off the page. Halloween come from the Celtic samhain celebration which were held at the time where our world is closest to the "otherworld" where the dead and other beings live, thereby enabling us to see them. Great When is about a young boy visiting this mysterious otherworld, also known as the astral plane, a place held by various spiritual traditions and individuals as very real indeed. Enjoy 😉
Not that I know much about content creation, but I wouldn’t mind watching you venture into more categories if you ever get into a reading slump and want to try something new!
Happy belated birthday!
I’m sat
I went into a slump in October as well.
Happy Birthday, Jack! It’s Libra Season❤

No!! But your new bookshelves are already full and overflowing! What’s the deal here?
Me encantan tus nuevas estanterías y el espacio que te queda libre. Fantástico.
Uno de mis pendientes, “Intermezzo”
Claudia Piñeiro es maravillosa ♥️
Un saludo 👋
As a Brazilian, Clarice Lispector is known for being "not for every one" lol. I personaly Love and highly recomend her short stories, but could never finish any of her novels, including the one you are reading 🙃. So if anyone wants to read her work but feels intimidated, go for her short stories! They are all incredible and also a little easier hehe
September was the month that I finally got out of my reading slump that I had over the summer lol
Jack if that helps you just know that I finally started reading more books because of you! And almost 80% of the books I read are your recommendations 🫶🏻 thank you for all the effort you put in it and happy belated birthday too 🎉 you're turning into a even more beautiful person I wish you all the best 💝
Aww Happy birthday Jack! We have the same birthday!! Except I turned 30 lol enjoy 26!! I hope it’s an amazing year!! 🎉🎉
Reccomending a truly heartbreaking book that got me out of a reading slump: Queer and Loathing by David B. Feinburg. Of all the great underrated/less well known books I've ever read, it's the best!
Me too! Major slump!
Husbands was ridiculous. Read it while sick with Covid and perfect read to be absorbed and entertained while not feeling well. I loved it
When I bought my first house at 38, I closed in May because 16 years earlier I had signed my first lease in May after graduating University. I haven't been beholden to the rhythms of school in any other way since I graduated. Some things just linger.😂
Happy (late) Birthday !!!!
Don’t worry, Clarisse Lispector is hard and experimental in her writing in Portuguese as well
this video’s take really clicks with some of the things I've been reading in the book Magnetic Aura from Talesio
The bookshelves 😭😭😭
the book shelf set up is sooooooo gorgeousssssssssssssss !!!!!!!! where did you get the drawers from ?? they're literally the exact vibes i was going for in my room ( ,:
Happy belated birthday:)
Sometimes when I feel impatient or dissatisfied about my reading, I find it’s because I am impatient to get to writing~*
HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY!!
Intermezzo is excellent
Tis the reading slump season I think. I've had the same thing. Just don't seem to have the energy to read rn. 😢
Happy belated birthday 🎉
Claudia Piñeiro’s “All Yours” is the book before “Time of The Flies.” It’s the story about how Ines ends up in prison. It’s less than 200 pgs. You may want to start there.
