    Hey y'all! Welcome back! We hope you enjoyed this visit to Copper Breaks State Park and Quanah TX. We had such an amazing time here, that it was really tough to narrow down what we would include in the video. 😁 The 2 other parks we mentioned in this video are Fort Richardson State Park: ua-cam.com/video/tU7UzOh6_-U/v-deo.html and Fort Parker State Park: ua-cam.com/video/EuKDn2ql-JM/v-deo.html . By the way, have you seen the new cooking video we published yesterday? 😋Grilled Burgers and Homemade Guacamole: ua-cam.com/video/bp4IPQFIlfc/v-deo.html . We'd love to hear your thoughts, please leave us a comment!

    Looks like a great park! We are hoping to stop here on our way west. The International Dark Sky "accreditation" is what initially caught my eye. We have been to a few dark sky parks and are looking forward to another one! Plus the cows ;)

    Dark sky park? Awesome. I love state parks that have museums. History ❤️. Wow. Very cool there are all those programs. I don’t see me kissing a long horn 😳. 10 million! I’m trying to convince Larry to incorporate our hikes on our campground videos. I love seeing close by hikes. And it has a lake with a pier. Awesome. Family run local businesses are great. In an old depot is a bonus. That’s why it is great to talk to locals. I definitely will look for the arrows. Great video. Love that bus too. Lots of cool info. Thanks. Alice.

    Thank you for spotlighting my hometown, folks. Copper Breaks' star parties are awesome. And the longhorns are The Texas herd. You can tell a Texas longhorn because they have a divet on their backs in front of their tails. Ms. Scarlett at the museum is a gem.

    can you tell us about the little mesh screen that comes down off your awning is that part of your awning or how does that work That's super neat but I don't know anything about how that works. Once again a very great video

    • @rvamericayall
      @rvamericayall  4 роки тому +1

      Thanks Bob and Barb! That is our Carefree Sunblocker: amzn.to/2B3YMA9 . We installed it a year or so ago. It slides into the slit on the metal at the end of your awning (the part that the awning rolls up onto. You can remove it and reinstall it each time, but we've found that it rolls up fine inside our awning in between uses. It really does a great job of blocking the sun and providing more shade that the awning alone. However, when it's windy it blows around. (It has grommets on the corners that you can use to tie down, but we don't typically put our awning out in any kind of wind anyway.) It comes in a variety of sizes and colors. We have a brown one because we originally bought it to go on our last motorhome. We never installed it on that RV, but we're glad we have it now (even if it is the wrong color.) 😁

    Howdy Y'all ☕️! We've never been to Copper Breaks but have gone through Quanah many times headed to Colorado. Let Tom know the burgers were good! I like the onion mix and I also added a little Worcestershire sauce to the mix with mine. I have a good guacamole recipe if y'all want to try it:
    4 large avocados halved and pitted
    1 small white onion finely chopped
    1 Roma tomato seeded and finely chopped
    1 large smoked garlic clove minced
    1 to 2 tablespoons diced pickled jalapeños plus some juice or 1 smoked jalapeño seeded and sliced
    1 large lime halved
    Salt and black pepper
    Garlic powder optional
    Instructions:
    In a medium bowl, mash the avocados with a potato masher. Be sure not to mash until completely smooth- you some texture.
    Stir in half the onion and adjust to taste, then squeeze both half of lime. Stir in the tomato, garlic, jalapenos and salt pepper, to taste. I also like to start by adding ½ tablespoon of the jalapeno juice, then adjust any of the ingredients as needed. For more garlic flavor, sprinkle in some garlic powder.
    Serve at room temperature or chilled.

You two are so great at showcasing our beautiful state parks in Texas. Appreciate how you demonstrate that it really 'n truly is possible to enjoy the great outdoors in Texas during the summer!

    • @rvamericayall
      @rvamericayall  4 роки тому +1

      Thanks so much Christy! It definitely is possible and sometimes there are things you can see and do in summer that aren't available other times of the year. The hat did work well. It reflects the heat and had a liner that would get cool when wet. I liked it a lot. But the brim was really big and I don't need 2 brimmed hats, so I chose to keep my older hat that can be folded up and gave this one away. If you're looking for a large brim hat, though it's worth considering: amzn.to/37jWUiG . And here's the hat I still have: amzn.to/2UvBtGc . The brim is much smaller and it can be folded up. It doesn't reflect the sun, but I like it a lot.

    What a great video!! I live a couple hours north of Quanah and never really knew about this State park. It’s definitely on our list to visit now.
    We’d love to have you guys up in Pampa, Texas around August 21, 2021 for our first annual PampaFest music festival. It will be held in our historic downtown area with brick lined streets and our very own Quanah Trail arrow too. The festival is to help raise money for downtown revitalization and will feature some great Texas bands, shopping, food, and games. Pampa also has a great city lake with RV camping.
    You can make a longer trip out of it and while you’re up this way and visit Palo Douro canyon near Amarillo plus our area lakes including Greenbelt just south of us, Meredith outside of Fritch, Texas and Fryer in the NE corner of the Panhandle just south of Perryton and north of Canadian.

    I haven't watched you much for a while as I found your talking heads vids too slow and boring. I'm glad I clicked on this one as I live in north texas. Your presentation was much more crisp and to the point this time around. Only a little reiteration of the same facts and much less obvious content. I hadn't heard of this park yet so thank you. I will be getting out there one day soon! I don't mean to be rude, but I like to get as much solid data and eye candy in a 20 minute vid. I don't have that much time left.

      It’s right on the edge of the panhandle, but I see your point, you could call it North Texas. Still a very underestimated park!

    Hi Tom/Stacy, Wonderful video again. Do you know are dogs allowed on the hike that you took? If so would you have recommendations if it was doable for the dog. We have a German Shepherd and she loves to hike with us.Thank you for all that you do.

      Hi Rick! Yes, dogs are allowed on the trails, and it would be doable for your hiking German Shepherd. We chose not to take Star on that hike because it was pretty hot and we expected the trail to be challenging for her. Had we taken her, we would have had her wear her hiking boots. That rock really heats up and might have burned her paws.

      @@rvamericayall Wow, thank you for the quick reply. We bought her booties this year as we originally planned to be in AZ in March. That didn't work out. We have been hunkered down on the Oregon Coast instead of our original plans but hope to get traveling back on the road soon. You two have got me so interested in visiting Texas for its diverse beauty and historical places. Perhaps this fall and winter we will be down there.
