Great video! My favorite part of this hobby is the building. Taking an old model and re imagining it and just rebuilding it is the most fun of all. Easily one of my favorite channels. Great work!
Good job, mate. I keep seeing you innovate while staying in the limits of reality and without being overly dramatic. Thanks for efforts to provide quality content.
That's one of the things I love about the hobby. Take a car that not great, add another that's not great, have a bit of a tinker, and make something better. Awesome. 😎👍🏻
hay bud, little tip for removing frozen screws. put a fillips bit on a soldering iron, hold it in place for a few seconds and heat the screw really hot then use a regular screwdriver to remove it. similar to what you did with lower risk.
Awesome 😎 thank you I just ordered mine too! So your links are great! Wow that is slower then usual! Glad you figured it out! Should run about 20+ mine arrives on Feb 2nd
I'm so glad to see a video of one of these. I got one a few years ago from my dad, and he and i used to make a bunch of courses for it. I got it out this year and the poor thing needs a refresh, so I'm gonna take some of your recommendations ❤❤
Love this build Phil. Came out fantastic. Was also great to see you repurpose all those parts and not just buy new stuff. I add 5+ points on for cutting down on waste, 5+ points keeping it budget friendly and 10+ points for how well it came out. 🔥🔥🔥 120/100 A++
these remind me of a 2 seater fireteam .this always seemed a bit slower than the 428 replacing the lower front suspension damper links with extra internal spring dampers(thoose cheap blue ones like use on wpl ,works well on front suspension and i think looks cool (the main thing)
Bro I'm just letting you know I'm a big fan of your channel you have really good content and a lot of it keep it up man definently my number one channel for rc!!! #usa
I have both 12428 and 12429, the 12429 is indeed a lot slower than the old 12428. My son and me drag race them, all stock ESC and motor. I think the ESC set up is different.
Fun looking buggy to drive from the looks of things. I like the mix of independent front suspension and then the solid axle at the back. Would be great fun with the stock tyres just bashing about in some woods and over some rocks I imagine! Looks a bit of a pain to work on with all those screws and plastic mind.
poor wee cat! LOL! nice build! at least you had everything that you needed and didn't have to order any extra parts. as far as the cat's name...i call mine Heyu..short for "Hey You!! Get off the couch" "Hey You!! off the bed"....you get the idea...see you in the next vid!! cheers.
If I recall correctly, with the 'reverse' issue on the WLTOYS receiver, you use the other pair of pins on the receiver, so instead of CH1 and CH2, use CH3 or HC4
This is one of the best looking cars from wltoys and it demands a brushless conversion but with the original tires.Excited to see your video but wish you'd take it to the rough terrain. It could be an interesting rift like rock bouncer. The price however can be high for this conversion... Maybe if they wltoys do it.
I ❤ the look of this Phil. Great wheel/ tire selection. I’ve always said wheels and tires can can totally transform any car!😀 I really thought you were going to put a 2845 mor in it . This 3650 still did an except job! Nice running car!👍🏻👊🏼😀
Chuck a sensored system in there and I bet that would crawl well, tyres obviously. But the ground clearance is good the articulation is good might be a tiny bit top heavy but I reckon it'd do well.
I had a Fayee that looked like that chassis design. 1/12 scale. Very very slow. Broke in less than 10 minutes of use. I've since used the suspension and transmission on different custom builds. What you have done here looks amazing.
I know this is an old video but is that the body/panels that come on it? If so I'd love to find one. Almost reminds me of the 30°N body on their petrol buggy.
Thank you buddy to bring my old model 12423 want to see what can you do to faster ,my still original just 550 motor lost alote power and not been doing much about, bit you'r one come out nice 🙂👌
I wish they made 1/8th scale truggy specific hoons to fit the kraton 6s the Team corally line up and also the fireteam The only options out there is the sweep racing road crushers and the jetko tyres which I don't mind but we need more options in the hobby But I like the look of the build The hobao caged buggy or truggy street build would be awesome
i neaerly did a brushless one of these a couple of years back but did not in end, thought if i wait long enough you will do it might have a driver figure that would fit well little solder type 4" tall
I've wanted this one for a while...I got a WL toys for my first rc car, can't remember the model (the green one with the role cage). This one looks like it would be fun.
These things are amazing I have the 12428s and love them.
The best good looking wltoys I've ever seen.
I agree… looks even better up close
Great video! My favorite part of this hobby is the building. Taking an old model and re imagining it and just rebuilding it is the most fun of all. Easily one of my favorite channels. Great work!
Brilliant Phil, great job buddy. Looks epic. John
That's really nice looking. I really like the look. Good job...👍👍👍
Good job, mate. I keep seeing you innovate while staying in the limits of reality and without being overly dramatic. Thanks for efforts to provide quality content.
I just got the brushed senton. It handles so well. It's getting a brushless today. Such a nice platform
Noice 👌

And the car look very beautiful the wheel are looking very and sporty the coolest car of wltoys thank you

Awesome looking rc. You did a fantastic job with the turn around.
Thanks mate
Awesome build Phil! I love the way it look’s. Please throw some paddle’s on it and take it to the beach 🏝️
Yes… maybe a revisit in the Summer 🤘
Love your work! Keep it up! You inspire me regularly to keep tinkering. Thank you, Phil!
Excellent stuff! LOve it Mr Tomley sir, the driver MUST be a smurf! Pappa Smurf preferably.
Papa Smurf for sure 😎👌
hay bud, little tip for removing frozen screws. put a fillips bit on a soldering iron, hold it in place for a few seconds and heat the screw really hot then use a regular screwdriver to remove it. similar to what you did with lower risk.
Yes that’s another way 👌
Fun little creative project!
Looks like the forerunner to the fire team, nice little conversion
That transition though @4:01 😉 great fun build!
😎🤘
@@TomleyRC Man's got editing skillz! 👍

I got the 12429 as my first rc car recently, totally stock but oh so much fun!!
Super cool! Great build!
FTX Supaforza GT looks awesome 👌
Should be able to give you all a look late next week
Definitely better. That screw was a "B". Lol good job.
Yes… got the little ‘B’ out 👌
Cool truck Phil. Looks like fun, cheers.
Phil definitely had a lot of fun after this recording I bet he stuffed AA battery’s up where the sun don’t shine
Cheers dude. Steve… I’m always short of AA batteries, never thought to look for them there 👌
Good job. Looks good☺️
Enjoyed very much! Thanks
Cheers dude
Came out nice 🎉

Yes, a 2 seater Fireteam for sure! I love the look of the front in this
Great video. I'd be interested to see the speedrun potential with some castle electronics. You know you've got some, The cat is called Sox
Yes, not sure Sox would survive a Castle set up 😂
@@TomleyRC that’s a fire video still. Sox at 120+ “too infinity and beyond…”

Love it mate, looks mega!
I got Yosemite Sam driving mine. Crazy guy done broke off the light bar!
😅

Bro... what is the blow torch you are using?
Portable gas soldering iron kit... Most hardware stores should have them.
Love the build Phil. 😊
Cheers dude
I definitely like what you did with it!!!😎🇺🇲🖤
This thing is bad ass Phil
Cheers dude
Awesome, been waiting for someone to review this.
I wish I could upgrade like yours in the future. My summer goal hopefully
The driver completes every build 😂 The cat looked happy with the mods
Really like this one Tomley... Nice build man. As you said, Would be good to see it with paddles.. Take care mate, MQ4
Sway bar would do wonders, added one to my 10428 brushless conversion

Yes these are pretty fun off road in stock form
I had just finished saying out loud, that would look great with paddle tires and then you said it. Great minds think alike.
Awesome build. I want to do more builds like this. P.s. Buzz Lightyear’s cat has a name. It is Sox.

I did get mine and for now stock but glad I was able to afford it and bought this week a general balanced lipo multi chemistry charger. Cool 😎
Such a good build.
@TomleyRC1.. Do you have a number I can call you by?
Fantastic, Phil! Really well done! 😃
WLToys should make it a bit easier, though! Other than that, amazing car!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Cheers dude. Yeah, never easy taking these things apart!
The 10428 was killer!
Great build! Good luck with that drive shaft on brushless 😁
If I recall correctly, with the 'reverse' issue on the WLTOYS receiver, you use the other pair of pins on the receiver, so instead of CH1 and CH2, use CH3 or HC4
Nice!! you git, I'm doing a desert buggy project and you beat me to the upload!!!! good work man 👍🍺🇬🇧
What little torch is that!? Maybe I missed the boat on that one but, I neeeeeeed it
What do you do with your cheap electronics? I like to make everything rc and am always looking for electronics.
Yeah, Me too...can make some very quick light boats with stuff laying around

Yeah a little big in the motor… but plenty of torque 😅
Looks awesome
Ive had 2 of the green ones. Im with you on wtf is going on with the speed, i think its gearing
That's a sick build. It reminds me of the 10th scale ace capo. Where did you get those hoonigan stickers?
Yes, looks just like the Capo. They are from the Hoonigan store. Links in the description
@@TomleyRC sweet, thank you

Yes they do crawl pretty good with the diffs locked up 👌
Where'd you get the little blow torch!? I need that in my life! 😂
Nice one mate! I have the same makita electric driver, quality! Definitely a fan of the Dumbo gear too. Cheers
Yeah, I have a lot of Makita stuff, never had any issues with it 👌

Yes, was a good little project for me… the original one was really good when it came out
Now correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the Dumbo RC gyro work better if it's installed inline with the body?
I’m surprised it’s not a Barbie car… Just kidding friend. 😂 We are all in it for the fun of toys. Good day then.
Haha
When you raffling tht coffee truck?
Yo Tomley!! 2 times in a row! Cheers for the latest vid 😀💯👍
Yo Jason 😎
Hey Tomley, the underneath rear isn't covered. Are you not worried that sand and mud might degrade the axial's performance?
You can easily swap forward/reverse on that wl reciever by using the other connections. Same for steering
😂 yeah, I figured that one out after tearing apart my transmitter, and manually swapping the wires...
@@dwaynewilliams3077 exactly what happened to me 😅
That's one looks alot better than the older one...I noticed from your clip back in 2017 you shown that was mod housing if not I am shocked haha 😂
Use hot solider iron on screws near plastic. Works good but may take a while if your iron don't get really hot.
I wish they made 1/8th scale truggy specific hoons to fit the kraton 6s the Team corally line up and also the fireteam

And councillor Murray isn’t gonna give you a medal for it 😂
Put shorter shocks on it and heavier diff oil in the front.
Nice clouds :)
No Poppies though 😅
Will those 12 to 17 wheel adapters fit on a wltoys 12416 .They dont say what the thread size is.

The Green one is the original… the 12428 👌
that looks awesome bud, can't work out how it was so slow to start with but sure did ok after 👍
It was so slow 😅
This chassis set up reminds me of the Vaterra Twin Hammers.
The wltoys receiver is a two channel receiver. The other two ports are channel 1 and channel 2 too - but reverse
I´ve got the amewi desert eagle brushed and this buggy was the introduction for me to the rc world. still got it, but don´t use it anymore :D
I was wondering if a castle 5700kv would fit in one of these... I too like the look of that Wltoys. Kind of like a mini Summit.
