I'm so glad that YG casted Jung Seunghwan as for this girl even though the judges love her I cannot get myself to feel anything when she sings, maybe it's because of how clear her voice is. I mean it sounds good but I don't FEEL anything but when Seunghwan sings it's like he's telling my story through his songs that's how much I connect with it

canzo0378 Maybe, but shouldn't a singer touch the feelings of even the ones who lost the "ability" to sense what raw emotions are. I know when I feel those emotions and its when I realize a singer is really great. Maybe in the eyes of some experts or those who actually knows how to sing, they can feel the emotion from her voice, but as for some people its quite difficult to convince their selves that its the emotion that should be felt through out the whole song. And to be honest, Im not used to the American style of singing where they bend, cuz Im not american and we have a different type of styles in our songs. But I know when something sparks my emotions or not, I have found many korean singers-- male or female-- who touched my heart with a simple song. But sadly, she didn't. She had a clear voice and good emotions. You measure a good singer not by their voice but the way they give meaning to the song itself. I don't think I've ever seen a duet performance like this where I can tell how much they love each other just by how they look at each other. When Seunghwan looks at her, it looks so real. They're so immersed in the situation and it comes through in their singing.

I know her singing style is very much adored in Korea though, and I think it's amazing these guys were able to top charts! Since Jung SeungHwans first performance I absolutely fell for him. I love how they don't overpower each other. Their voices match each other. In some duets, it feels like one person is stronger than the other whether in talent or volume, but here, they both sing confidently and comfortably.
I was going to say these two will both be Top 3 this year, but there are other very strong contestants as well. For me, these two and Lee Jin Ah would be a perfect Top 3. Fans of Esther and Lily (and a few others) will probably disagree :)
I think that if the show was only about the best singer they would definitely be the TOP 3 (the two from the video and Lee Ji Ah), but when we have to think that K-pop is a product to be sold, voices like Lily or Esther are more profitable. The wait they sing is pure art, but is not a kind of voice that you see in the k-pop industry because their voices please our ears (and sometimes our souls) but k-pop music are made to sell, not for only self enjoyment.
This is the first Kpop Star where I have more than five favorites. It's very hard to pick the top three just yet. With competition shows, though, it's all about how they performed at the day of the performance and who they're pitted against.
I don't think JYP will be able to mentor Seung Hwan anyway. He's already an artist in his own right. I was hoping that YHY will take him, though. Because hip hop doesn't really fit with SH's style--like YG said, hip-hop is all rhythmic, but SH need someone who understands musicality or at least have the same sensibility that he does. I think JYP's interested in mentoring Yoon Ha because her musicality isn't as polished. Not saying that she's not already amazing, but that was a good match/cast.
I'm thinking YG is planning something for ballad singers ang Seung Hwan could be their first ballad singer. With the convention building and expansion building. YGE is different from before, you can see through their artist though YG is a company hiphop in origin they try to evolved as a entertainment company . Now YG has a variety of singers. example to these is AKMU, Lee Hi and se7en and they even trained Bang Yedam who is more likely to become RNB/Soul singer. I know YG cant coach in singing but nonetheless it is not the reason they don't have vocal trainers in their company. The only advantage of YGE is they have a CEO who can see the potential of their artist and it is also the reason now YG is a carefree company letting their artist shine though their own colors.

I love how they don't overpower each other. Their voices match each other. In some duets, it feels like one person is stronger than the other whether in talent or volume, but here, they both sing confidently and comfortably.

I think that if the show was only about the best singer they would definitely be the TOP 3 (the two from the video and Lee Ji Ah), but when we have to think that K-pop is a product to be sold, voices like Lily or Esther are more profitable. The wait they sing is pure art, but is not a kind of voice that you see in the k-pop industry because their voices please our ears (and sometimes our souls) but k-pop music are made to sell, not for only self enjoyment.

I don't think JYP will be able to mentor Seung Hwan anyway. He's already an artist in his own right. I was hoping that YHY will take him, though. Because hip hop doesn't really fit with SH's style--like YG said, hip-hop is all rhythmic, but SH need someone who understands musicality or at least have the same sensibility that he does. I think JYP's interested in mentoring Yoon Ha because her musicality isn't as polished. Not saying that she's not already amazing, but that was a good match/cast.
I'm thinking YG is planning something for ballad singers ang Seung Hwan could be their first ballad singer. With the convention building and expansion building. YG saw Seung Hwan's charisma and mentioned it in the earlier episodes. Well, I dont care who really takes him just let him debut with good songs, with that I will be happy 😄.
Jewelyn Bantiling Yeah, but this is the mentoring stage, not signing. SH needs guidance from a musician's perspective not a producer's. But that's what I think personally. I'd be fine if YG wants to sign him because he lets his artists have creative control.

YGE is different from before, you can see through their artist though YG is a company hiphop in origin they try to evolved as a entertainment company . Now YG has a variety of singers. example to these is AKMU, Lee Hi and se7en and they even trained Bang Yedam who is more likely to become RNB/Soul singer. I know YG cant coach in singing but nonetheless it is not the reason they don't have vocal trainers in their company. The only advantage of YGE is they have a CEO who can see the potential of their artist and it is also the reason now YG is a carefree company letting their artist shine though their own colors.
