Interesting. I hadn’t realised that the join between the graft and rootstock improved over time. I had always assumed some were just more skilfully done than others.
There are certainly better grafts than others and colouration may be different. Over enough time the grafts area always improves however. Thanks for posting👍, Carl
I would wait until they start to leaf in mid to late march, otherwise if it’s wet like last year the roots could rot before the tree starts taking up moisture

Sadly I had to spend some time away from the grafts to look after my mom and they dried out! With have a go again next year 👍

do I have to eliminate the buds that start to swallow from the rootstock while the scion didn't take off yet? thx!
No I would leave the buds in place until the scion is established 👍
When would you say is the best time for repotting in the uk? Seems pretty mild at the moment or would now be too early? Thanks
