    Great review. You're really selling me on the "throwback to another generation" comment, man. I really liked MotoRacer 4 because of that exact same feeling, and _that game_ actually put a whole bunch of these "middle tier"/lower budget racing game developers on my radar. Made me wanna look into studios' like Anuman Interactive (who did that one), Kylotonn (Flatout 4), and Milestone (Gravel). I even played Gravel's demo, and enjoyed it a bunch too - felt like a _Sega Rally Revo_ successor but with a worse front-end & soundtrack but a better camera. Haven't played a Rainbow Studios racer since the PS2 days, but I feel like I'll be picking up All Out at some point now.
    You're leading me some good, fun racers that control well with these reviews (like with Burnin' Rubber 5 HD), so even though I see some negative reviews of this from random UA-camrs being recommended on the side of the page of _this video_ , I really don't care. Moto Racer 4 also got a lot of scathing, negative reviews from a bunch of people I don't trust (who are probably stupid and hate fun-filled arcade racers with responsive driving models; the kind where you gain turbo from successfully pulling off stunts), so I already know to avoid a lot of the "hot takes" on modern racing games from the peanut gallery. That age-old video game trend of "it's not as pretty as the big budget game, so it's gotta be terrible" is alive and well, always. But this channel; I trust. I'll probably be downloading this on Steam soon to check it out (darn lack of demos though; I hate needing to download a 26GB game - what it's listed as on there - just to "try it out")
    MotoRacer 4 may be my favorite off-road racer since ExciteBike 64.... which is coincidentally also my favorite off-road racer of all time. Though I'm sure if I were to play it now, it would fall significantly due to.... well, so much of the N64 library aging terribly. Maybe Excite Truck then? Or Motorstorm Apocalypse?

      I typically don't look at other reviews before I finish mine, so I had no idea that MX vs. ATV: All Out was getting scathing reviews. I went into this game a little skeptical, since I had a strong disliking of the last game (MX vs. ATV Supercross Encore). In fact, I nearly started this review by noting all of the negative comments I got from bashing the last game. It's probably my most controversial review. Perhaps it's because I feared the worst, but I was pleasantly surprised by this. It's far from perfect (and I can understand why others would dislike it), but it reminded me of the older MX vs. ATV games, and I realized mid-way through that I miss racing games like this. This is very much a B-tier racing game, and maybe that's okay. I would recommend waiting until it's on sale and it has been patched a few more times. There's a strong game in here.

    Never played this series but actually looks pretty good. How do you tell where you're supposed to go?
    I played a hell of a lot of SEGA Rally back on the saturn. Also liked 4x4 Evo on the dreamcast even though it was a bit rough. Also liked Dirt 3; played it a lot when I got a free key in that steam fiasco.

    Good video. Surprised you were so kind, I had seen another review that was scathing and expected the same. You seemed only mildly disappointed when I expected pure wrath. Of course, that is fine, differing opinions and all.
    Personally, I can't stand low framerates in racing games, so I think I'll pass unless I see it in a PC bundle or something.
    Qotd: does excitebike still count?

    Favorite off road game is top gear overdrive for the n64. Technically it isn't just an offroader but you can go off the beaten track so often I feel it is one. Plus, who can forget the Taco Car! Gentalmen, start you appetites! Yum. Yum.

    I love All out. Id probably give it a 7.5 for PC and a 7 for console.

      Is the performance better on the PC than consoles? I enjoyed the game, but the PS4's frame rate problem dogged the entire experience. Based on your score, it sounds like you're not far off from where I landed on this game. Thanks for watching the video and leaving a comment.

      Defunct Games LoL depends what gpu you have but id say anything better than a 1050 and you're about on par with the Ps4 pro. the regular ps4 and xbox are kinda bad but they are getting patches so it might change. The game runs on ultra settings at 1080p at 60fps on my laptop with a 1050ti and on my rx 470 i get like 70 - 80fps

    A Switch Version comes out in a few months. When this is ported with care, I'm in.

      @@redwilard3522Wow, a lot of people hated on Fuel but I love it. The only thing I disliked was that it crashed on me when trying to make one of the super long drives across the map, for a trophy or something.

    I'm new to the channel and just wanted to say I like your review style man 👌. To answer your question, I really liked Pure when it was released but it got lost in the sands of time. Might have to pick it up again!

      Pure is an absolute classic that should have spawned a bunch of sequels. They need to at least give us a remastered version, because I feel it doesn't get the respect it deserves.

    Co-op?

    • @DefunctGames
      @DefunctGames  5 років тому

      Are you specifically looking for a mode where you and a friend work towards a common goal? If that's the case, then I don't recall there being much like that in this game. You can, however, play local multiplayer via split-screen.

    • @SSYoung125
      @SSYoung125 5 років тому

      @@DefunctGames so split screen but only online split screen? Are there any games on the newest generation of consoles that is actually truly campaign co-op other than Borderlands 2

    • @DefunctGames
      @DefunctGames  5 років тому

      You can play against your friends locally through split-screen, so you don't need to go online.
      To your other question, the idea of local co-op has largely gone out of style with the major developers. That's a shame, especially if you don't want to play all your games online. Some of the indie games are doing a good job of incorporating local co-op, such as ToeJam & Earl: Back in the Groove. Horizon Chase Turbo is another racing game with a split-screen mode. There's also Rayman Legends, both Guacamelee games, Gauntlet, Helldivers, both of those overhead Lara Croft games (NOT to be confused with the third-person Tomb Raider games), OlliOlli 2 and quite a few more I'm surely forgetting about.

    u cant complain about framerates when u r playing on a 750Ti (ps4). U sud be happy that it even runs.

    • @DefunctGames
      @DefunctGames  4 роки тому

      If a developer can't get a game to run smoothly on consoles, then they shouldn't release it. As long as they are charging money for it, critics can most definitely complain about frame rate.
