I will be 50 years old in July. My grandad used to take me on the RHDR all the time when I was little. My grandparents had a holiday home at Romney Sands holiday village back in the day. Would spend the whole 6 weeks summer holidays there. Very fond memories. Later this year myself and my wife have hired a caravan and she wants to take a trip from Romney Sands to Hythe and back. Memories will come flooding back to a time when things seemed simpler and life was easier. Then again I was only 6 or 7 😀 - I miss these times and my grandparents a lot…
Thanks for the ride. I am from the United Stats, the controls for the engine look so foreign to me. Great to see such a unique experience. I hope to make it over the pond to see this railroad before my fire goes out.
Such a thrilling driving experience on the Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway! From Dungeness to Hythe, the journey offers a unique perspective of the railway's scenic route. Thanks for sharing this unforgettable adventure!
I was there in 2000, a dream come true. I left Sydney just after the olympics and enjoyed it immensely. The staff were very accommodating and showed me all around the sheds and workshops. It must of been an oddity having an Australian enthusiastically wide eyed exploring the place. Thank you again RHDR for making my visit a magical experience.
The best seat in the house; I've been waiting for so long for someone to put a GoPro up on the tender of one of these trains. I can almost smell the steam and feel the soot on my face and see the driver at work.... My neck is strained from trying to stretch up to see over the cabin roof....ha Such a great ride though the country, and with the wind "up the duck bum", perfect to keep most of the steam out of the GoPro. Cheers.
WOW! First time I have seen footage like this. I can feel the adrenaline rush myself as if I was driving. The speed for this beautiful narrow gauge, locomotive is really outstanding, 25mph or 30mph, I'm guessing of course, but thx. for sharing with us all. Most enjoyable & thrilling to watch. 🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃❤😍🙂

Glad you liked it. The speed limit is 20mph. But at 1/3 the size it feels a lot faster :)
High speed!!!!
