Wow. it'still running, i have visited the railway in 1971 with a Dutch rail enthousiasts with the Speedwell tourbus, i was the busdriver. Great tot see it back. Greetings from Delft
It's amazing to think that the loco and Dungeness power station basically work in the same way. A solid fuel to produce heat, cooled by water to produce steam to drive a turbine or piston. I think that's how it is, but fun to think of nonetheless. Which rhymes with Dungeness, ha!
Interesting how this driver uses the water injectors. I was taught water on, steam on. Steam off, water off. This was to keep the injector cool as it will not 'pick up' if too hot. This is why they are on the outside of the engine even on full size locos. Much less use of the whistle with the automatic crossings. Have the journey times reduced? But great video bringing back memories of 50 odd years ago, some things don't change!
Is in the uk in Kent The main station is at New Romney you will find it on google maps and the railway still runs successfully with all 14 locos still there.
It looks to me like the reverser is operating the opposite way to what you would expect. I would have thought you would turn it clockwise for forward and anti clockwise for reverse. So to nick the engine up as your speed increase speed, you might expect to turn it anti clockwise to do so. This looks to be the opposite.
Hey will I wonder if you could tell me what's going on with the locos at RHDR in overhaul? E.g. Hercules , black prince and Samson pass Huge fan of the railway
Hercules is being put back together after a intermediate overhaul, samson is under going her overhaul and black prince is waiting for work to be done on the boiler.
What sort of speed do you achieve on this run it looks fast but that's probably because of the scale but it would be interesting to know none the less?

Yep still going strong with 12 of the 13 original locos still going.
great job, thanks for sharing! love the stack talk echoing off the surrounding buildings. wish we had more railways like this state side.
Everybodys got an automobile stuck.to far up.there ass
That's a nice little railway. I would love to visit it one day.
Brilliant. Great quality, great enginmanship. Thank you for posting, a great advert for the 'Mainline in minature'.

wish I could go live in the US and love to run the locomotives for you guys
You know this is in the UK right ?

It would be great to have captions telling us what the driver is doing
Magnificent engineering!

Great stuff but boy you really have to know when and when not to stand up in the cab or you could completely lose your head.

Will Finniss thank you for the update

Barnem13 I heard somewhere it's 25mph, I could be wrong though.
The speed limit is 25 mph (75mph scale speed) but the current timetable is written for 20 mph.
Sweet❤❤❤❤
what steam train is it?
