Bought a TCR in Feb and love it..... Always preferred the GTI looks and this just maximises on that plus it’s actually faster once off the line..... Great car. 👍
The TCR is faster around the Nürburgring by about 10 seconds, the TCR is lighter and has better braking capability and the TCR is faster from 100 - 200KM so the TCR edges the Golf R in performance and handling when it comes to facts.
This has a DQ381 wet clutch 7 speed. (Same as a Golf R or a Cupra or an S3) DQ500 is exclusive to the RS3 Audi only. That has a much higher torque limit from factory (500NM) the 381 is about 400, but with a Racingline DSG TCU tune the clamping force is increased to a level where even the DQ381 can actually take well above 500. And if you have all those bits on it by now anyway then its well worth going for this and the oem+ stage 1 software too : ) Youll be pushin like 350 HP after easily
Didn't the new mk 7.5 golf r comes with DQ500 and old ones got the DQ250? Yeah I was also hesitating that the driver said it was dry clutch when its actually wet.

Lovely car. I’ve had two Mk 7.5 R’s. The first was a 310hp manual without DCC. The current one is one of the last cars with DSG. I really miss the first car which was, because of the gearbox, was a much more engaging experience. The DSG car is extremely competent but is a bit like playing GT Sport on a PS4; to get a buzz out of it you need to drive it very fast; that wasn’t true with the manual box version where healing and toeing could be enjoyed to the full - perhaps I’m just an old fart. I think the perfect R would be a manual 310hp car with DCC; whether that would be the perfect performance Golf would be good to find out. I’d love to try a TCR as it appears to have the level of engagement that a DSG R lacks.
Hi Kev, I bought a TCR a couple of years ago without ever driving a golf… within two weeks an R owner parked up beside me and we took each other’s cars for a ride - I felt numb driving his R as I do with my “quick” daily electric car. The TCR was developed to be faster and feel more lively. If you’re ever in Devon gimme a shout 👍
