Friggin awesome man. I was almost gonna skip this cos I already use sends (just a couple of verbs and delays, nothing crazy), but of course there is always something to learn from you. Thank you very much, as always. The tune sounds hot as, btw. A new direction for you perhaps... Let's wait and see.
When you introduced me to this a few years back, it's an absolute game changer, got my music to pro level. Now I tell everyone until their ears bleed! Do not sleep on this. Pz 🙌
Yeah, return tracks are game changers also when doing live sets. I like to use groups as well to create a drum bus, bass bus and synth bus with compressors, eq etc to glue and manage frequencies
Great video as always! I always underutilise send & returns so this has sparked the need to use again! Are you opening up any more slots on your Patreon soon? Please!
@Dilby: In Logic the receiving send fx can send audio the the same bus used for receiving audio from its senders. This creates a feedback loop in the send fx chain. Is this possible in Live ?
Thanks so much for this! I do have a question though. What is the difference between grouping the drum tracks (or any tracks for that matter) vs sending them to a bus?
Grouping and Busing are essentially the same thing. The output of all of the sub-tracks is sent to the Group or Bus. A return track is different as you are sending the signal there in addition to its mixer output.
Can anyone help me, when watching these videos, and others like syntho. The screen seems a lot bigger and fits a lot more on than mine. Why is this? I have a large monitor, but I am using windows not a Mac, is this why?
For example, when I am writing midi notes, the midi screen is very zoomed in and only fits a portion of the notes on the screen, whereas on some of these tutorials the whole keyboard is shown on the screen and the squares on the screen are a lot smaller
@@dilbydj absolute legend can’t wait to watch more of your tutorials🙌🏽🙌🏽 You probably have videos on this but do you use ableton preset sounds or no? When making midi tracks I’ve found you cannot use midi with sample packs (this may be incorrect I am a beginner lol)

Great video. Love the Soundtoys plugins too.
You are an amazing teacher bro!
Another amazing content!
Super on point - great content!
Awesome as always Dilby
Thank you so much! And very nice, clean and deep track! 🔥
Nice haircut! Suits you bro 👊
Where can we get your updated Ableton template with all the new additions ?
I live using my return channels for delay but then use the return send back into the delay for adding tension so it loops back into its self.

Yes
I use that trick as well, it's great for adding tension on build ups or sweeping in and out on the bass when I play live.
Whoa. Never thought about doing that. Thanks.
@@AnthonyHuttley try it on a delay in the sends mate and don't go too heavy with the feedback loop or it will just make an horrible noise.
Where can I find the spray reverb around 10:50 ? I don’t see it in ableton
It's not an Ableton preset. It's one I made for that purpose. But any super long reverb should do the trick.
Try the free Valhalla one. Some mad possibilities with that one.
Is there a difference between sending all your drums elements into a drum bus or just group them?
Answered this in another comment below ;)
