- Опубліковано 9 вер 2021
- The American car manufacturer Tesla has set the official record for electric vehicles at the Nürburgring. The "Model S Plaid" lapped the 20.8-kilometre Nordschleife in 7:35.579 minutes. The 1,020 hp vehicle with a tri-motor was driven by Swedish driver Andreas Simonsen. The time is now listed in the category for electric production cars. Pretty impressive considering the weight of the car and the fact that it isn’t a race car. Lots of tire noise but on most cars, you hear the loud engines and gear changes whereas in the Tesla it is pretty quiet except for the tire sound.
It's certainly a high performance car, though. 1000+ hp necessitates that. It is what it is, no embellishment or excuses needed.

Amazing engineering, and great driver.
@@floki1664 I mean I'd like to say the same but right now Tesla is light years ahead on the electric engineering front. Making good motors and batteries is not the same as making a good ICE engine. :)
On top of this Tesla has done some amazing work on its active dampening and traction control algorithms. Their cars are impressively stable considering their weight. Right now you can see this when you watch a Taycan launch and hear it squeal the tyres versus a Model S of similar weight launching with no squeal at all yet a faster launcher and the same tyres.
I don't disagree that other companies will get closer, I'm just saying it's a different game. If you can make a fast ICE car you might not be able to make a fast EV just yet. Horsepower is only part of the issue, getting it to the ground is a much bigger issue.

Now that I have seen other track videos by those who have bought the retail version of the Model S Plaid it is crystal clear that the car in this video is not in standard retail trim, despite Tesla claiming that it was and the record being listed under "Electric production cars".
This car is show accelerating in turns at the limit of traction, accelerating while riding on track curbing, and braking heavily and repeatedly at speed. Stock Model S Plaid cars sold to date do not do those things.

On that long stretch of straightaway just before the finish line the driver had plenty of room to floorboard the accelerator and reach the Plaid's present top speed of roughly 165 mph (268 kph). The Yoke is just bullshit to begin with.
He also can't grip the wheel properly cause of the ridiculous design
There's no physical linkage it's steer by wire. i dont get why they didn't update the soft wear for tighter ratio.
A fucking yoke on a daily car is absurd to begin with. I mean it's not for an f1 race. Unless their fsd is already mature and legal that a steering wheel is just an option.
@@Teslapromo103 I do think it looks cool but I bet its a pig to use
That stearing wheel scares the shit out of me when trying to push a car
*steering
every racecar has that. I guess its not that bad for pushing it after all🙄
@@twlentwo racecar steering racks are lower ratio and their wheels are way easier to hold than this thing
@@smoothguitarforever have you ever hold this thing ?
The fact that a 12 year old car (LFA which was not even the fastest car at that time) had better lap time then this shows that just because you have crazy acceleration, it doesn't make your car actually faster
Dude was sawing wood with the steering yoke the entire time, he definitely wrestled that thing. Good jobs sir!!
3:11 Insane acceleration on that thing: going from 100 km/h to 200 km/h in around 5-6 secs and that's not even going straight at the start and starting uphill!
That's about the same time as a gt2rs. It has 300hp less
@@peterzingler6221 one is a road legal racecar, one is a limousine...
@@RSProduxx teslas are not limousines there interior does not look good and they use cheap materials far from a limousine
@@bjornaustmarorsson2066 again, one is a racecar, and the other is a 4 door family limousine
@@blazesmooth5573 The rear seating position in the Model S is terrible due to the space required for the battery and the aerodynamic shape that the marginal energy content of the battery system dictates. It's not a "limousine" by any reasonable meaning of the word.
How much battery is left after a lap like this?
What kind of tires it have? If you run sport Cup 2 tires probably take 4 seconds of the time
Considering the weight it is a pretty good result. The balance, however, looks very bad resulting in hectic steering all over the places.
Looks pretty undrivable. No traction at all and gets thrown around like a boat
Handles like blancmange.
He was also dealing with the brakes, they literally weren't enough to stop the car without frying so he lifts and coasts to keep them cool
If you compare weight and performance with the taycan turbo s and the times they put, it is not that impressive tbh.
@@manulovesjesus agree, taycan turbo s is exactly the category of sporty excavators one would look to compare here
The graphics in this game are so good. The textures are great. The lighting is a little iffy though. Is RTX on?
nah i think the lighting is on max settings which is making it lag can we turn the settings down
Wonder what the average time would work out at over three non stop laps, compared to a base 911 or something. At what point does it stop being competitive and they have to drive more economically to complete 3 laps.
If you close your eyes and listen to the sound the car makes while turning, you will swear you can hear the souls of the tires groaning as they wrestle thousands of tons of lead through each corner. I think the Titanic was able to turn with less effort.
This tesla is a fukn rocket
Only about 3 seconds quicker than a Cayenne Turbo GT around the track, which is heavier, less powerful and it's an SUV.
@Aryan A but tesla superfans always compare with petrol car, and say tesla is the future of petrol and gas car. Seems not fair to.
@@ELGlueckert The cayenne is still slower and more expensive, and it smells of soot.
@@starshipdriver8536 top speed of the cayenne is 186 mph, which isn't exactly slow for an SUV. Faster than any Tesla that isn't the plaid.
Those poor tyres…
How come it maxed out at 270 kph? Does Tesla install a speed-limiter on their cars?
Thank you for posting this video very impressive driver .
