Morocco formally recognized the United States by signing a treaty of peace and friendship in 1786, a document that remains the longest unbroken relationship in U.S. history. Obviously their sardines must be good.

It was also a formal recognition that US commercial vessels were no longer under the protection of the British Navy, leading to increased piracy upon US ships in the Mediterranean, which ultimately led to the Barbary Wars, creation of a permanent US Navy and the US Marines (source of the "shores of Tripoli" in the Marine Corps Hymn).

That can of sardines is what Moroccans make a legendary fast food - a can of sardines with an onion and a tomato. We cut the onions and tomatoes like a salad. We put the sardine pieces in an elegant way over the onion and tomato salad and pour oil. A can of sardines over the onion and tomato salad is the quickest snack and has a terrible taste + a healthy dish that I recommend trying. 😋😋😋😋

You need to try Sadaf Premium Moroccan Sardines in Harissa. I really enjoy that they are spice forward with only subtle tomato flavor as I generally stray away from sardines in tomato sauce. The spice level is heightened yet satisfying unlike most brand that advertise "spicy" sardines. The sauce is so good I usually end up dipping bread into the can as to not let it go to waste.

The chicken of the sea? In Louisiana Sauce, great snack when you super hungry and come in from cold dreary fall day. Make sure to eat with the open window. Keeps the air fresh and you get the fish sensation when it all coagulates in the mouth with a cold breeze. Be hungry like I said because you’ll salivate better thus rinsing the mouth between bites, which prevents oily buildup in mouth. Then when done and the hot sauce burns a tad really get the flavor by inhaling the cold air this cause you to salivate and clean mouth more. Personally it’s very meditative as far as snacks go.

I took the taste, the carrot, the texture and all that for granted for way too long that I forgot that to those who never tasted them, this is an experience. I think I'll have them for dinner, tonight. Oh, by the way, I highly recommend you remove as much as the oil as possible before eating to avoid an upset stomach. If you're making a sandwich, you can try my trick: get a fork and mash the sardines. They're soft enough that they'll become a paste easily. This will not only make them spreadable, not only remove more our, but allow you to mix in whatever you desire before spreading it on bread.

What i like to say is, with just only two canned sardines in tomato sauce, you can make a very nice pasta sauce. Even sardines in tomato sauce or in olive oil, you can make a nice salad. Eating with a crispy bread.Hmmm.😋
