Also, this is the first video with the hidden Tapir easter egg (although this one is super easy - expect it to get harder!)

I'm from Northern Minnesota, up by the Canadian border where wolves and bears abound and there is enough snow to make SNOWHENGE whuch we have done and ut gets a lot of attention. Not as much as STONEHENGE does, but hey at least it's something.
Thanks for the project reference!
This video is amazing! Thank you Chris! :)
Thanks a lot!

If you would like to know why really Stonehenge was built you should have an open mind !! Its built for the same reason why the great pyramids, machu pichu and other such sacred sites were built. There's lot of science around ley lines, earth chakras and how it affects the human consciousness and these sacred sites were built to enhance our collective consciousness. Sorry if I confuse you lot, but its a very interesting read !!!
Fun fact: Stonehenge was built at roughly the same time as the Pyramids of Giza.
Wow. Giza is a wondrous monument and Stonehenge is a bunch of stones stacked neatly lol
Leorion the pyramids are built simpler than Stonehenge
Giza had logs to roll bricks on while much heavier stones were transported in an unknown way
To Know "his-story" is the base of everythink. Great video but misleading informations. ☺☺
Maybe it was the same aliens who did the Pyramids XD
Egypt had a relatively large and complex society at the time, while Britain was still in the stone age with a few small loosely connected tribes.

When I was a child you could walk amongst the stones, touch them, climb up on the alter stone & play on it, act being ancient worshippers. I don't think you had to pay. I seem to remember a little wooden hut where they sold postcards. Salisbury Plain was en route for Grannys house so we stopped there at varying times of day or night & in varied weather conditions. Freer times.
Honestly, experiencing this event has to be one of the most fulfilling things you can do in your life.
You've got the time, the anticipation, the environment, the history and sense of achievement.
I think I'm really going to have to start a bucket list
You're right, it was a real bucket list item. You should definitely visit one year! :)

Seeing all the people at Stonehenge that morning with their smartphones made me realize:
A smartphone horizontally held by two outstretched arms mimics the shape of a lentil on uprights. :o
I never thought of that, interesting observation... :)

Another really interesting and well created video! Love hours work Chris!
Thanks a lot! :)
I was able to witness the winter solstice sunset at the Drombeg stone circle in County Cork. Not nearly as big, but really cool to walk around it with only a small crowd of people. It had a great view of the sea, too.
I just learned 5 minutes ago that Stonehenge was more adjusted/aligned to winter solstice sunset than summer solstice sunrise. It make sense since sun worship in the north west of Europe was common (later) at winter solstice. That’s also the date “stolen“ by Christianity to celebrate the birth of Jesus.
I visited Stonehenge for the first time last year, as the last stop on a road trip I took from London to the Lakes District to Snowdonia in Whales and back to London. I was honestly surprised at how awestruck I was by Stonehenge, given that it's such a "tourist attraction." It's simply a spectacular site. (Awesome video, as usual too!)
Thanks! I know exactly what you mean - they're just a pile of stones in a field, but they're somehow so awe-inspiring and enchanting.
Wasn't it a boat trip?
Love our English heritage!
ah i wish i was there p.s I Love The Letter @Half-AsleepChris Sent Me Thank You...!!!
But the people who built this were not English. England didn't exist then. They were Britons.
@@MrSimonmcc Alright British heritage then.

Chris: Why is Stonehenge here?
Conspiracy theoretics : *X-FILES THEME SONG STARTS PLAYING
People speak about primitive historical tools, but we are spoiled with elecricity and Hugely underestimate possibilites of technology without.....
Still just complete guesses Chris why can't we just be honest and say it is only a druid ruins. Stop saying they didn't have the wheel, then you want to give them all this credit of aligning things with the heavens and then say they didn't even have the wheel. Nobody knows if they had the wheel or not and probably they did stop with all the madness and following the guesses of the simple-minded who think they know.
It's just unknown Chris and please comb your hair and pray that you can get some facial hair that would be excellent.
Less than 30 seconds in, and you've mentioned the Summer Solstice. Stonehenge was built to celebrate the *Winter* Solstice.
Back in the 70s, anyone could get right up to the stones, any time of year, for free. I stopped going when they fenced it off and started charging people to look at it.
Very the privileged to only live 20 minutes away, 💛🙌🏻
I feel like someone should make a replica of Stonehenge and restore it
Could it be a star map from the sol system? The thrilithons are the inner planets (5). The altar stone is the sun. The circle around them is asteroid belt. Their alignment could be revelaing where they came from.
They should make a Stonehenge replica that is complete in that area so that if you are there you could visit the real Stonehenge and then drive for 20 minutes and see what it was meant to be
I came to your channel because of kitties and now I'm sitting here learning things. Goddammit.
One of the pyramids was designed so the light of a certain star would shine on an inner spot once each year.
Since the earth wobbles (a result of precessing ... look it up), it's now out of alignment.
In 5,000 years it will be right again.

It seems dumb to ruin the sunrise between the grand trilithon with flashy lights and other light pollution
My class watched this video so we could learn more about Stonehenge 😂
Wonderful video Chris! It must have been an incredible experience. While you hippies were enjoying your shortest night, we were nicely tucked in bed having our longest.
Thanks! That's a really crazy thought
Stonehenge is 265,000 years old +/- 1200 years, the outer ring of stones precisely predicted Lunastices, major lunar standstill extremes of the moon's orbit that occur every 18.6 years. This is important, and the reason Stonehenge was built, because during Grand Solar Minimum (GSM) with magnetic reversal (loss of Earth's protective field) Earth crust deformations take place resulting in new "True North" locations (5 across Greenland in the past 300,000 years). Stonehenge was built at higher latitude 61.3 degrees, where the inner stones precisely align with solstices and equinoxes. For mathematical proof UA-cam Mario Buildreps channel search "Stonehenge Mystery Solved." Search UA-cam "Sun Dagger Explorer" for Chaco Canyon, New Mexico Observatory that also tracks Lunastices, when the earthquakes, tsunamis and Earth crust deformations take place (GSM). Cosmic ray flux heats high silica magma, the only time (GSM) the big cone volcanoes erupt VEI 6 and above. At major lunar standstill Earth's Moon is 5.3 degrees out of alignment with Earth's rotation, causing brief acceleration and then deceleration perturbing the crust movement that freezes into a new true north at end of GSM.
From knowing the summer solstice, someone could start counting and, remembering frost and freeze from previous years, decide the best days to plant ... the best days to harvest.
STILL crucial for agriculture.

Thanks a lot! :)
This is truly amazing I mean to think people did this back then and im glad to learn about them thanks for the video chris
I've been blessed to attend Summer Soltice at Stonehenge three times in my life, and it is one of the most magical experiences ever. From people in their Eighties, to small kids. It's a wonderful place to be on the Solstice.
Some good questions. How have these survived millennia of wars? In particular, did the Nazis not want to bomb the hell out of this site?
Question 2, was England a peninsula when this was built?
Perhaps you answer these in your video. I'll go ahead and watch the rest of it now 😉
It's a little known fact that the same general contractor built both the pyramids and Stonehenge, and then years later Yankee Stadium.
But those weren’t all build in the span of 1 lifetime.
I love Stonehenge as the angel of the north
Me and my class just watched this 😄
2:57 they believes that they transport that from wales to Anglo-Saxon England using a rolling chunks of tree woods and they hammered by stone hammer too

That's really cool. New Zealand just had it's winter solstice, being in the Southern hemisphere. Our tradition (for some) is to have a mid-winter "christmas" dinner.

Half-Asleep Chris Thank You So Much !
I would love if they repaired stonehenge. I know it might remove some of the oldness of it, but how amazing would it be to see it whole.
They sort of did in the 50s, it used to be a lot more fallen-over. Maybe they could built a complete replica at the visitors centre or something?
Happy anniversary of this video! 🥳🥳🥳
We really don't know how it was intended to be experienced as we don't know the significance it had on the people of the time. It's like finding an ancient musical instument and saying we know the music that was played on it. We only have patial information and that is the stones themselves the abstract is lost well in the mists of times and the neo-Druids cannot know as there are no ancient records that wer left by the original Druids and Stonehenge predates Druidry.
Exactly.
Why do you always have those weird bears in the video?

I wanna go to stonehenge so bad
Stonehenge was the culmination of centuries of building on Salisbury Plain. What amazes me is sheer amount of large stone circles built around the same time right across Europe, forget the manpower involved, what motivated people to build them, why, is the biggest question. Theories abound but answers are harder to find! 🇬🇧
Stone circles were also built in the south west of what is now the US.
@robertewalt7789 I didn't know that, thanks.
Can you please give me more info, for example, which State/s as I'd like to research this further. Thanks.
@@robwalker7575 I saw this discussed in a course “Ancient Civilizations of North America,” presented on Great Courses Plus, formerly Wondrium. Unfortunately this is a pay site, but I think it is well worth the cost. The presenter is Dr. Edwin Barnhart, at the time of the course with Maya Exploration Center. Maybe you can Google Barnhart for further free information.
Great video 👍😁
Thank you! :)
we would always drive past it when visiting family in Somerset, and my mum always tells me how when she was young you were able to climb on them, whereas now there are massive barriers around it, and I think they charge you to see it. I'm very jealous of her hahah
It's unfortunate - they have very expensive and limited tours in the early mornings where you can go in the circle but you're not allowed to touch any of them and it sells out about 6 months in advance. But the summer solstice is free and you can touch the stones (Same with the winter solstice)
Why do you have a toy manatee in every shot

stonehenge is truly amazing
Why is it that you didn't include that Stonehenge may not have actually looked like that originally? Seeing as workers were told to set them up like that in the 50's. Also you neglected to say that it was found quite a few years back, by Archaeologists I might add, Stonehenge is connected to the little talked about Woodhenge, which is much larger in size, just down the road, where there was a year round village. It was also found that people would do a yearly pilgrimage for the Winter Solstice to pour the cremains of their dead relatives and other loved ones into the River Avon where they would float onto their rebirth at Stonehenge. The Archaeologists also found evidence of peoples having come from as far away as Scotland. Bones of animals only seen there at the time, types of foods only found in certain places etc. It was a place to get together and celebrate as well as send off those who had passed over the year, been cremated and saved for the passing on into the river at the end year. To also celebrate their rebirth into the Afterlife with the spirits of their other ancestors as well as whatever Deities they may have worshiped and what came next. Why didn't you include any of this?
it was rebuilt twice in the twentieth century. once in 1914/15 fish and again in the forties or fifties. quite a few stones are set in concrete now. Who knows what it originally looked like when you see pictures of how it looked before it was rebuilt twice
@@nickevans4808 *snorts laughingly* didn't know about the 14/15 rebuild, but it doesn't surprise me one d@mn bit.
This is what I wrote on a 1985 reportage of Stonedge Robert Stack's Unsolved mysteries ..some 5 minutes ago..... "Hedgehog..I only know what was reported in the media..I always had an incline, based on different designs, somehow it was related with time (time lapse, travel in time, time of century, time of day, seasons, the cross ?? time since? ..Greenwich Village? ..a 2¢ worth gut feeling! .. moi, canada 🇨🇦
Take it easy Chris...trying to bring our ancestors...in fact the people who built the Henge into the 21st century by way of our understanding and connection with the Earth..Sun and the seasons is a bit rich...I don't believe the likes of us modern types can engage to their degree...I'm a veteran Stonehenge phile..but back in the 70s and 80s..in 1984 one of Thatchers lieutenants stated 'We shall decommission the 'Peace Convoy' thus the 'Battle of the Beanfield ' post abandoned Solstice 1985..I miss the Stones and why I went or my non hippy parents took me and my brother I can't quite pin down but the desire is still there...the over policing of the event seemed to stamp on a MODERN tradition..old bill wall to wall pisses on the people's right to congregate...thanks for posting 💎💎💎💎💎👜
Stonehenge is really grand and important piece of history, but why is it left outside like this? Outside, in the fields, under nature's mercy! Not to mention how every year people can just go there and touch the stones without anyone in charge? Shouldn't the real Stonehenge been kept in a museum and replace them with replicas? The British museum perhaps? They keep the Parthenon Marbles there, (2000 miles away from their home) for that exact same reason. So they won't be destroyed from pollution or erosion etc. Does the British Government care more about Greece's history and culture than their own?
P.S. Great video and very informative, thank you Chris!
I found Tapir!!

Its on the stone on the right
Yet the usage of Stonehenge is not clear. How can we conclude it is valuable?
Also I always doubt it’s age. Well, call it 5K, 6K,10K... Being old is not enough for being a heritage.
I just learned 10 minutes ago that Stonehenge was more adjusted/aligned to winter solstice sunset than summer solstice sunrise. It make sense since sun worship in the north west of Europe was common (later) at winter solstice. That’s also the date “stolen“ by Christianity to celebrate the birth of Jesus. Today the Stonehenge is one degree out of alignment due to earth’s changed angle during 4000 years.
I know how stonehenge was built. Merlin The magician floated the stones into their position. Here in Minnesota, we got enough snow one year to build SNOWHENGE. :)
Looking at the photos of Stonehenge, I think that this is not a sundial or structure for astronomical observations. This is the remnant of a huge building from which only the most durable elements of the structure have survived. Imagine a huge wooden building with a roof that is gigantic for those prehistoric times, something like a stadium at that time, supported by appropriate, perhaps too massive but necessary, stone supports. Humanity has always been fascinated by gigantic structures like the Egyptian pyramids, which were to bear witness to greatness and strength. In summary, it is a remnant of a great structure whose wooden or other non-durable elements have decayed.
