If you would like to know why really Stonehenge was built you should have an open mind !! Its built for the same reason why the great pyramids, machu pichu and other such sacred sites were built. There's lot of science around ley lines, earth chakras and how it affects the human consciousness and these sacred sites were built to enhance our collective consciousness. Sorry if I confuse you lot, but its a very interesting read !!!

When I was a child you could walk amongst the stones, touch them, climb up on the alter stone & play on it, act being ancient worshippers. I don't think you had to pay. I seem to remember a little wooden hut where they sold postcards. Salisbury Plain was en route for Grannys house so we stopped there at varying times of day or night & in varied weather conditions. Freer times.

    • @torenicolaifjelldal
      @torenicolaifjelldal Рік тому

I just learned 5 minutes ago that Stonehenge was more adjusted/aligned to winter solstice sunset than summer solstice sunrise. It make sense since sun worship in the north west of Europe was common (later) at winter solstice. That’s also the date “stolen“ by Christianity to celebrate the birth of Jesus.

Still just complete guesses Chris why can't we just be honest and say it is only a druid ruins. Stop saying they didn't have the wheel, then you want to give them all this credit of aligning things with the heavens and then say they didn't even have the wheel. Nobody knows if they had the wheel or not and probably they did stop with all the madness and following the guesses of the simple-minded who think they know.
It's just unknown Chris and please comb your hair and pray that you can get some facial hair that would be excellent.

Less than 30 seconds in, and you've mentioned the Summer Solstice. Stonehenge was built to celebrate the *Winter* Solstice.
Back in the 70s, anyone could get right up to the stones, any time of year, for free. I stopped going when they fenced it off and started charging people to look at it.

Since the earth wobbles (a result of precessing ... look it up), it's now out of alignment.

Stonehenge is 265,000 years old +/- 1200 years, the outer ring of stones precisely predicted Lunastices, major lunar standstill extremes of the moon's orbit that occur every 18.6 years. This is important, and the reason Stonehenge was built, because during Grand Solar Minimum (GSM) with magnetic reversal (loss of Earth's protective field) Earth crust deformations take place resulting in new "True North" locations (5 across Greenland in the past 300,000 years). Stonehenge was built at higher latitude 61.3 degrees, where the inner stones precisely align with solstices and equinoxes. For mathematical proof UA-cam Mario Buildreps channel search "Stonehenge Mystery Solved." Search UA-cam "Sun Dagger Explorer" for Chaco Canyon, New Mexico Observatory that also tracks Lunastices, when the earthquakes, tsunamis and Earth crust deformations take place (GSM). Cosmic ray flux heats high silica magma, the only time (GSM) the big cone volcanoes erupt VEI 6 and above. At major lunar standstill Earth's Moon is 5.3 degrees out of alignment with Earth's rotation, causing brief acceleration and then deceleration perturbing the crust movement that freezes into a new true north at end of GSM.

From knowing the summer solstice, someone could start counting and, remembering frost and freeze from previous years, decide the best days to plant ... the best days to harvest.
    STILL crucial for agriculture.

It's like finding an ancient musical instument and saying we know the music that was played on it. We only have patial information and that is the stones themselves the abstract is lost well in the mists of times and the neo-Druids cannot know as there are no ancient records that wer left by the original Druids and Stonehenge predates Druidry.

What amazes me is sheer amount of large stone circles built around the same time right across Europe, forget the manpower involved, what motivated people to build them, why, is the biggest question. Theories abound but answers are harder to find! 🇬🇧

Stone circles were also built in the south west of what is now the US.

@@robwalker7575 I saw this discussed in a course “Ancient Civilizations of North America,” presented on Great Courses Plus, formerly Wondrium. Unfortunately this is a pay site, but I think it is well worth the cost. The presenter is Dr. Edwin Barnhart, at the time of the course with Maya Exploration Center. Maybe you can Google Barnhart for further free information.

we would always drive past it when visiting family in Somerset, and my mum always tells me how when she was young you were able to climb on them, whereas now there are massive barriers around it, and I think they charge you to see it. I'm very jealous of her hahah

It's unfortunate - they have very expensive and limited tours in the early mornings where you can go in the circle but you're not allowed to touch any of them and it sells out about 6 months in advance. But the summer solstice is free and you can touch the stones (Same with the winter solstice)

Why is it that you didn't include that Stonehenge may not have actually looked like that originally? Seeing as workers were told to set them up like that in the 50's. Also you neglected to say that it was found quite a few years back, by Archaeologists I might add, Stonehenge is connected to the little talked about Woodhenge, which is much larger in size, just down the road, where there was a year round village. It was also found that people would do a yearly pilgrimage for the Winter Solstice to pour the cremains of their dead relatives and other loved ones into the River Avon where they would float onto their rebirth at Stonehenge. The Archaeologists also found evidence of peoples having come from as far away as Scotland. Bones of animals only seen there at the time, types of foods only found in certain places etc. It was a place to get together and celebrate as well as send off those who had passed over the year, been cremated and saved for the passing on into the river at the end year. To also celebrate their rebirth into the Afterlife with the spirits of their other ancestors as well as whatever Deities they may have worshiped and what came next. Why didn't you include any of this?

it was rebuilt twice in the twentieth century. once in 1914/15 fish and again in the forties or fifties. quite a few stones are set in concrete now. Who knows what it originally looked like when you see pictures of how it looked before it was rebuilt twice

Take it easy Chris...trying to bring our ancestors...in fact the people who built the Henge into the 21st century by way of our understanding and connection with the Earth..Sun and the seasons is a bit rich...I don't believe the likes of us modern types can engage to their degree...I'm a veteran Stonehenge phile..but back in the 70s and 80s..in 1984 one of Thatchers lieutenants stated 'We shall decommission the 'Peace Convoy' thus the 'Battle of the Beanfield ' post abandoned Solstice 1985..I miss the Stones and why I went or my non hippy parents took me and my brother I can't quite pin down but the desire is still there...the over policing of the event seemed to stamp on a MODERN tradition..old bill wall to wall pisses on the people's right to congregate...thanks for posting 💎💎💎💎💎👜

Stonehenge is really grand and important piece of history, but why is it left outside like this? Outside, in the fields, under nature's mercy! Not to mention how every year people can just go there and touch the stones without anyone in charge? Shouldn't the real Stonehenge been kept in a museum and replace them with replicas? The British museum perhaps? They keep the Parthenon Marbles there, (2000 miles away from their home) for that exact same reason. So they won't be destroyed from pollution or erosion etc. Does the British Government care more about Greece's history and culture than their own?
P.S. Great video and very informative, thank you Chris!

Yet the usage of Stonehenge is not clear. How can we conclude it is valuable?
Also I always doubt it’s age. Well, call it 5K, 6K,10K... Being old is not enough for being a heritage.

I just learned 10 minutes ago that Stonehenge was more adjusted/aligned to winter solstice sunset than summer solstice sunrise. It make sense since sun worship in the north west of Europe was common (later) at winter solstice. That’s also the date “stolen“ by Christianity to celebrate the birth of Jesus. Today the Stonehenge is one degree out of alignment due to earth’s changed angle during 4000 years.

I know how stonehenge was built. Merlin The magician floated the stones into their position. Here in Minnesota, we got enough snow one year to build SNOWHENGE. :)

Looking at the photos of Stonehenge, I think that this is not a sundial or structure for astronomical observations. This is the remnant of a huge building from which only the most durable elements of the structure have survived. Imagine a huge wooden building with a roof that is gigantic for those prehistoric times, something like a stadium at that time, supported by appropriate, perhaps too massive but necessary, stone supports. Humanity has always been fascinated by gigantic structures like the Egyptian pyramids, which were to bear witness to greatness and strength. In summary, it is a remnant of a great structure whose wooden or other non-durable elements have decayed.
