Purchased 14900K, Dark Hero - and about 7 different sets of DDR5 8000... nope not happening. best I was able to get was 7600 MT/s. Put Dark Hero back in the box, Purchased a new 14900K and Apex Encore. New Parts arrive, remove DH install APEX & CPU with contact Frame... boot to bios, install windows, download 0507, update bios.... finish installing windows... back to bios set to XMP 1 DDR5 8200, Asus Mem tweak II - Memtest86, pass, TM5 Pass.... AIDA64 120GB's write, 120GB/s read, 120GBs Copy, 57ns latency, Cinicbench R23 First run with AI OC 41,800 send the DH back or gamble on a better bios update.

The mobo it’s amazing. Still have the Hero OG but I changed for an Encore. There is a false advertisement with the mem’ OC. I’ve tested all beta BIOS shared in the OC forum or from asus Dev team, but I was capped to 7200 stable and 7600 no 100% stable . I found that the IMC or the mems had nothing to do with this cap, with the encore and a 13700 I’m running easily 8200. Beside that, the Dark it’s beautiful!
Hi, I recently purchased the Z790 dark hero. I noticed that on the back there are some white halos near the CPU, is this normal? My dark hero also has them, but much more accentuated.
If you are the person who likes to experiment a lot with extensive overclocking stuff go for Apex. If you are the type of person who likes things to work the way it is with tons of feature set and convenience go for Hero. Either way you won’t be disappointed spending $700, both are very similar.
I'll have a difinitive answer on how well it runs 4 sticks or high speed RAM in the next couple days. Almost done getting this bad boy in my system and trying it out. - Guy in video.

Contact frames offer a negligible performance increase. You're better off delidding.

From what I have seen it’s still very questionable. If you want that to happen, get Apex for sure.
