Hi Mike I was a sales consultant at John Deere, in Australia, when we did the conversion for a client. The cost of the conversion was around $50,000 for the kit plus fitting , around $10,000 back in 1993. The conversion was done to a 8640 taking the power from 275 to 400. The transmission and drivetrain were over engineered for the original motor , therefore it was a ideal conversion. Back in those days, a 9400 was retailing for about $220,000 Aus dollars.
Awesome! Greatest tractor JD ever made I was born in 82 just like the 8650 and my cousin's farm had two of them, still has one. I thought they were the biggest tractors ever when I was a kid.
Awesome video as always Mike. I always look forward to the notification of your videos. Soon as it hits I watch. Back in the day the John deere 8650 was a big tractor big power. Love seeing it. Keep them videos coming my friend 🌞👍
Mike, farm power of the past is going on this weekend. I hope to see you there. They are featuring the old international, so I think it's going to be a good show. I like the green, but those red one's look great fixed up.
Great video Mike. It's always nice to see the older 4wd tractors working in the field.I think they also made the 855 Cummins repower kit for the international 4586 and the 4786 but I don't think it was the kinze repower? I really enjoy watching your videos Mike. Have a great weekend.
The Kinze conversion added a frame instead of using the engine block as a structural component, which caused a lot of issues with blown head gaskets if the front axle hit the stop and the engine was flexed slightly. John Deere made a similar improvement on the 60 series.
Did John Deere have a 7500 articulated tractor also ? I just remember the 77 __ numbers though right now I was pulling a 50 foot field cultivator with it . I was just wondering it's been a long time ago when my boss had that sized tractor .
@ Steve Farrow Thanks that was the size I drove for a while . It had duals all around . It handled the field cultivator very easily. I don't know what kind of motor it was but that was about 25 years ago
Nice to see I am not the only one who likes Mike’s videos before they finish watching it.
I usually like the video before it begins also .
If I don’t I forget.

The kinze repower JD has to be one of the best looking tractors out there.
We had the 8650 repower just like the one shown, it was a great tractor. Run for years with no problems. Kinze did a nice job.
Beautiful John Deere 💪
Power sounds so good!😉
Thanks a lot for the video!😊👍🏻

As always a very informative video without all the BS. I really like to hear the machinery working its magic.
Nice weather. Awesome tractor. Amazing video😎
Back in the day those JD's were monsters. You were something if you had one let alone two. Awesome video Mike.👍👍

Well I'm out in Montana so I won't make it home on time.
I've driven a many truck with the 855ci ,my favorite truck engine.

They weren’t Kinze kits. I think a lot were done locally.

I heard that it is longer to fit the bigger engine, and everything together.
Correct
That was a great video Mike, I am curious though what is the horsepower of the repower? Looks like it's handling business pretty good.
Kinze sure knew how to improve the JD tractors.
👋
Any idea what the price is to repower it?
No Idea.

@Monk Farmer agreed. A 7520 isnt pulling a 50 foot field cultivator lol
That tillage tool needs some fine tuning. It can do alot better job.

Most Green fans do not appreciate the Red Cummins upgrade...
