Probably the best intro ever. A crowd crazy just after an instrumental song it's incredible

Bong 14 is Never Let Me Down Again... Bong13 is Strangelove. The concept of the album cover and the singles was precisely to have speakers, like expanding the music to the masses. And Strangelove was the first to have the speaker on its cover and with the number 13. Bong and
followed by a number, it is actually the catalog number of the singles from Leave In Silence to Personal Jesus 2011

"What's with the chain?!" OMG, I laughed out loud so hard! But such a good question. What is with the chain?
"There's Dave. Relaxing before he humps the crowd." Hysterical!
"Is the crowd even gonna like us?" I'm pretty sure that at this point they knew the crowd was gonna be off-the-hook. :)
Love the analysis of the food options.

But still the best Depeche Mode tour is Devotional (1993) and that can be confirmed by any real DM fan :)

I mean this concert was in 1988 so no connection to Ghosts Again. There is no real video for it, it's just scenes from the beginning of the documentary

Bong 14 is the catalog number of the record label Mute for Music For The Masses.

No Bong n° is only for singles release… Bong 14 is for « Never let me down again » as Bong 13 was for « Strangelove »… « Music for the masses » has STUMM47 in Mute catalogue. The first BONG n° was BONG1 for « Leave in Silence ». An exception is for « Little 15 » with no BONG number as it wasn’t planned to be a single and has been released only in France after request from the French Record distributor. His catalogue number is LITTLE15 and the following BONG15 is for the live single for « Everything Counts » ;)

@@vitzthum9370 I didn’t had noticed the Bong number on the live video… Strange that they used BONG 14 specifically, who is especially for NLMDA… but it would have been weird to use STUMM of course 😂 I should take a look at official videos from NLMDA to see if it has been used on it before and chose after for the stage… maybe !

When the band are driving into the empty stadium is when they were announcing the concert on KROQ with DJ Richard Blade. When the band were posing with the chains it was just a photoshoot for the concert.

Seph you really enjoy it and you remind myself when I watch this movie for the first time with friend of mine - we were amazed, blowminded and yes - obsessed with Depeche Mode. Here in former Czechoslovakia Depeche mode was cult band and still is... They made us to make our own music but for the start we played those Depeche Mode songs to our friends. Memories thirty years ago ;-) Greetings from Prague and thank you for your warm reactions ;-)

I'll really like to hear from you when you finally watch 101 from beginning to end as the documentary instead of of just these snippets. There are a lot of fun little behind the scene moments with the band throughout it. I know some dont like the moments with the kids, but i rather enjoy it all myself.

The Bong 14 bullhorn/ imagery is used on the Music for the Masses album cover and the Strangelove videos.
Btw, highly recommend you check out the album version of Strangelove. Much better version than the one you reviewed. Most hardcore fans who grew up with them consider it the best song on the album. Never Let Me Down is better for a concert atmosphere but for listening, the album version of Strangelove eclipses it slightly imo.
You can also check out the Stranglelove ‘88 video which is similar to the album version.

As i mentioned before… go on with violator and then songs of faith and devotion. After that you are ready for Devotional. And don’t peak anything before… song by song. Even the setlist of this tour has a big impact on the whole experience.

I enjoy how you react in your videos… it reminds me how i discovered every songs, singles, LP’s when they were released ;) The first time i was hearing each songs… I’m questioning about it. You didn’t knew DM before you start this videos series but i think you had already heard some songs maybe without noticing it or searching to find and hear more before. Maybe you say that but which songs did you knew or think having heard before deciding to discover the whole discography ? Happy to hear and see you in future videos…

If i come across any songs i know in the future i will mention it. But i definitely didn't know of this group before it was requested here on the channel. So the first song of theirs i ever heard was blasphemous Rumours been working album to album ever since pretty much. I have accidentally heard the beginning of a couple of their songs but never much more then a couple of seconds.

    • @fabricebeudon7617

@@SephPlays that’s definitely always been sad that DM wasn’t scheduled on radio… i discovered them because my sister had Some Great Reward and Construction Time Again. I was immediately impressed and follow them since. But even during 80’s i only heard them generaly on a local radio with a guy who played them a lot like many others new wave bands, as he used to get and spread so many 12 inches versions… but on national radio they wasn’t played a lot and nor today. With all their carrier and discography radio don’t play them except Just Can’t Get enough, Enjoy the Silence, Personal Jesus generally… For the States, the Californian local radio Kroq follow them since a long long time too. That’s (i think) the reason why they wasn’t really known enough even if so many fans followed them with underground and local radio station !
