Never saw the fuss with the Paul oakengfold mix, very flat and too sparse, gaz drums were a, huge part of the swagger and mark days guitar drove it and was way too low in the mix.... Hannet did the best work with them for me, I think pills and thrills would of sounded even better with him producing, I felt oakenfold put too much of his own influence in
Some fookin tunes were written.. Then there was THIS!! I saw em live in 1990 At Elland Road with The Farm, The LA's & The High.. .. fooked off my ed! With some nutter climbing the lights.. If you were there you know what I mean.. "Cmon Down Man, You Cannot Fly, If You Jump! Youre Gunna DIE!!" That was summin.. What a day! What a BAND!!!!!!!
The album "Bummed" scores at 10/10 in my book. Such originality, dirty, funky, trance, Mark Day's riffs are SO original, Shaun's singing style AND lyrics are in a world all their own, Paul's bass playing was just SICK, sorely underrated, and Gaz was probably the most talented of them all on drums when they first started, WOW! What a combination, fuck lessons. Learn your Instrument YOUR way and originality will come oozing out everywhere making beautiful music. Imagination....the one thing a lot of skilled musicians DON'T have. Mondays forever!
I wrote for luck They sent me you I sent for juice You give me poision I hold the line You form the queue Try anything hard Is there anything else you can do? Well not much, I've not been trained I can sit and stand, beg and roll over I don't read I just guess There's more than one sign But it's getting less And you were wet But you're getting dryer You used to speak the truth But now you're liar You used to speak the truth But now you're clever And I wrote for luck And they sent me you And I sent for juice You give me poision I hold the line You form the queue Try anything hard Is there anything else you can do? And you were wet But you're getting dryer You used to speak the truth But now you're clever You used to speak the truth But now you're clever And when it's hot You start to melt 'Cause you're not made of jean You're made of chocolate And when it's cold You tend to crack You keep on piling out Not puttin' back
"Coz your not made if gene's your made of chocolate!" Classic. I've just given my 12yr old son a copy of the Bummed album to listen to and he said this song kicks ass! He said Shawn Ryder looked very drunk in the video! Ha yeah!, and the rest!😂
Brilliant, drunk! Such a young & innocent observation. Bummed a classic innovative original album of its time and still now. Great rock, funk, trance, grooves musically and brilliant poetic Manc slang lyrics, all proves there’s no rules and nothing is wrong in music if it sounds good to the ears. Giving your young son a copy of this album will totally educate, open and broaden his mind musically and creatively, showing how expressive you can be and that you can go whatever direction you wish and how you feel. I’m a musician, guitarist, vocals, synths, producer, engineer and have been for years. I never pushed playing instruments on my son and daughter growing up, good music was always there in the background through there lives growing up, now in their early 20s they’ve both got excellent music taste and love and appreciate past classic bands and music from The Mondays, Stone Roses, Smiths, James, Chartlatans, New Order, Fall, Buzzcocks, Primal Scream, Portishead, Massive Attack, Blur, Nirvana, RHCP, etc to name a few. They both learnt basics of guitar when 8-13yrs old, went off did their own things through teens, then when went to University and the first half term when my son came back home he said dad can I take one of your guitars back to uni. Obviously I obliged and so fast he was playing guitar, singing, performing so quickly in his own style and now can’t put a guitar down. Which is beautiful to see. He quickly worked out it was cool to sing and play instruments to mates who can’t play. And it opens so many doors in life in the performing arts world which he now does loads, performing and playing in bands, acting on stage in theatre groups and various tv and film roles. I honestly hope your son one day will get just a little bit of the benefits and enjoyment that both my kids have done.
The opening "riff" sound carried the rest of the song, maby "Friends", "Celebration day". There's a similar sound there, I want to listen to Led Z after listening to this. Thanks for the question. Happy listening to ya.

And even all music critics LOVE this album, and who else but Martin Hannett could put up with the Mondays and help create this masterpiece
@@KeithPudliner-ns3wq You're completely wrong about learning a musical instrument.
RIP Paul ,thoughts to all the Ryder family ,band members and everyone connected with the mondays ,massive part of my life,ALWAYS XX
Paul could lay down a great rhythm track. He is in my pantheon of favorite bass players. Best wishes to his friends and family, sad to see him go
Poetry set to great music - 'nuff said.

Wow, the guitar sounds even more hypnotic than it did then . And I was, well, kind of hypnotized for real then!
Thank Christ I have this version on vinyl...superior version... hands down. What a song to dance to, superb backing riffs.
Agreed. Love this.
Bought the original in the before-time after seeing it on the Chart show Indie chart.

Anyone know the guitar tab for the riff? Can’t seem to find anything online.

Either way, it's more logical to ask who led zeppelin were ripping off. Check it out, the most outrageous plagiarists ever. Bummed is totally original
