- I just had to pay respects to Tower of Power bassist "Francis Rocco Prestia", who passed away this weak from an ongoing illness. The baddest Top 40 and Rhythm & Blues bassist ever!!! RIP Rocco Prestia...
They are the best for sure.
That whole 40th anniversary show is sick! Good choice. Best live band I've ever seen, and they make it look so easy.
I've seen this band at least five times...nobody is sitting towards the end of the show!
over 100 plus meet rocco many times when he waswaiting to get his transplant we talked in the head at a casino and he went up and played two tunes.
East bay awesomeness... 1974 I used to cruise around town in my 1956 chevy blasting TOP on the 8 track. They actually played at my HS in the east bay area...
You know one thing that I've found, I still be diggin' on TOP. 🎸👍
Trancesco Rocco Prestia ....we will miss you big time buddy ...
I've been a Tower of Power fan since I can remember, best horn section ever!, been hooked since "East Bay Grease". R.I.P. Francis Rocco Prestia : (

Got hooked on then in 1974 and been listening to them since then. They just don’t make them like that band anymore.

You can never ever go wrong with these guys!! Love me some Tower of Power!!
RIP 🙏🏼
Man I remember Seeing these Cats in Hartford Ct when they had Bret Beyers on Congas, Lenny Pickett on Tenor doing his Smokin Crazy Dance moves and Garabaldi played a 4 piece Slingerland set open heads and Lenny Williams sang They Kicked ASS then, Being an Up and coming Drummer I worshiped Garabaldi, back then still do today with other drummers back in the day Sandy McKee Cold Blood Gaylord Birch who played for both later on and Ronnie Beck Man Stubberfield, Starks, James Levi, but Prestia Garabaldi were the Shit when they locked in, Damn Funky was made.
TOP is my favorite funk band of all time. Rocco and Dave grooving together is the best there is, topped off with a powerful horn section. This band is crazy groovy. Rest in peace Rocco. You are my biggest bass hero.
Now do Drop it in the Slot! The whole damn album is funky as all get out!!!
Bill Graham, one of the best producers ever!
