Old Norse valkyrja "chooser of the slain") is one of a host of female figures who choose those who may die in battle and those who may live. Selecting among half of those who die in battle go to Fólkvangr, Freyjas afterlife, the other half go to the god Odin's hall called Valhalla. There, the deceased warriors become einherjar. When the einherjar are not preparing for the events of Ragnarök, the valkyries bear them mead. Valkyries also appear as lovers of heroes and other mortals, where they are sometimes described as the daughters of royalty, sometimes accompanied by ravens and sometimes connected to swans or horses.
Valkyries are attested in the Poetic Edda, the Prose Edda, the Heimskringla and the Njáls saga, all written-or compiled-in the 13th century. They appear throughout the poetry of skalds, in a 14th-century charm, and in various runic inscriptions.

Lady here :) your videos have inspired me so much to dive deeper into my Danish ancestry and ancient Germanic mythology/history in general. I once was deeply spiritual and found things like astral projecting/lucid dreaming to come naturally, even in unwanted or unprovoked instances. Over time and with life’s challenges I felt as though I’d completely lost touch with that aspect of my person. But after discovering your channel somewhat accidentally the magic and connection to what lay beyond has been rekindled in me. I know I have so much more to learn and am eager to reconnect with my ancestors, and the spirits that guided them. Thank you for inspiring me and I’m sure so many others!

And also, I love that you talk about the divine and complementary nature that men and women shared in ancient times. It’s so refreshing to hear someone give admiration and reverence to women who had enormously important roles, not on the battle field, but from the “sidelines”… doing what they were meant to do. I don’t mean that to sound “misogynistic” but it’s true that they’ve been portrayed as Viking women fighting alongside men in battle in a very woke way. I’m delighted to learn that Nords had a much more enlightened and grounded understanding of gender roles than western cultures today.

@@Karina-Loves-Andreas there are gender differences that have a direct impact on fighting ability, regardless of training. I want to train my daughter in jujutsu and Kali, and I have practices many martial arts for over thirty years. I still would not expect my daughter to be able to fight and defeat the average untrained male, but perhaps be tricky and dangerous enough to deploy a weapon or escape the situation. Evolution has given males greater strength, spacial awareness, and aggression ( testosterone makes dangerous situations thrilling to us ), which was necessary to protect our pregnant women and children from threats ( males are expendable ). While I myself like lily have experienced Astral projection ( in unwanted or unexpected circumstances ) and lucid dreaming, I suspect that this realm is one where women are vastly superior to men. My grandmother was always predicting future events from her dreams, and she was a Christian who was unaware that many of her almost instinctive behavior patterns and practices were reminiscent of her Germanic pagan ancestors. I see the return to the old ways as a great opportunity for women to find and reconnect with their true power, a power that reminds the men why we used to ( and still should ) put them on a pedestal of respect and honor.

Woman here :) and not your typical subscriber (most likely) as I am turning 60 soon. But much of what you describe has been known among the women of my family for a very long time, most of whom repressed it, but thankfully, not all. The men of the family including church-related authorities worked against this knowledge in the women of my family for (as nearly as I can tell) hundreds of years. Still. Certain women maintained capabilities, but NOT in the presence of any man. Experiences and information you describe has found me, evidenced (in part by the Rysdyk on my bookshelf (along with others not named ) many years before I found your channel. I AM SO GLAD you're making these videos, which I love, and don't miss any, and even happier that you welcome valkyrie capabilities to your life. The best video I have ever seen on the Valkyries to date! I have to contemplate the centuries of women being disenfranchised into more subservient and degrading roles compared to men, only to see a backlash in the present where women often charge men as being possessed of toxic masculinity while simultaneously trying to embody many of the worst negative traits associated with men. This ancient practice reveals just how truly powerful and unique our women are, a practice long denied them. Whether male or female, our greatest natural born attributes can only be fulfilled by returning fully to the old ways.

It's strange, how in things like the Disney/Marvel movies (starting with phase 4, mostly) and elsewhere in current cinema, women are portrayed upstaging their male counterparts by beating up droves of bad guys, while tolerating the bumbling, craven male protagonist, while they are inexplicably good at everything. Formerly established male characters are broken down and deconstructed, to make way for the now badass "strong female character," who now excels at the more masculine tasks, such as fighting, and are no longer utilizing their feminine traits and skills, and aren't even allowed to be portrayed as sexy, as though that were a bad thing. Very odd.

Yet I frequently encounter deluded and naive females who almost arrogantly peacock their imagined fighting skills. As if adopting some of the most obnoxious cocky posturing of some males will translate into fighting ability. It never works out for them in sparring matches to their shock and embarrassment.

I remember reading about these human* valkyries, and my grandfather awnsered me that they where not human. They where aspects of a single supreme goddess. The doughters of Ran that claimed the those that died at sea where similar. So where the norns. All aspects of this one goddess that was the wherry source of life.
He told me that I had to read the stories again and think of the valkyries as personifications of fate. To master fate was to have their love. Odin- having mastered more fate/destiny then anyone had all "their love".
This is why valkyries are so prominent in hero stories. To master fate, or seek out destiny is central to the hero mythos.
The Arthurian legends discribed this same divine force as a golden cup. More modern books by Dan Brown speak about something called the divine feminine. Ainchent Greek worship tied to old germanic tribes tell of a cult of initiation where the highest worship was that of the female aspect*
Religion confuses us as much as it helps us understand truth. Jordan Peterson discribed religious belief as something you could tie directly to behavior. So our true religious belief would come out in how we behaved, regardless of what we consciously thought about the matter.
I know that I worship this same goddess. I would act irrationally, and possibly heroicly to save woman and children. I would naturally behave in a way that was non threatening around them. I would seek to nurture and protect a pregnant woman. This is the divine feminin. The ability to bring life to this world. To reproduce, and further our kind. If it happens that men reading this would also/have/see themselves jumping into danger when this precious "thing" is threatened- then according to Peterson this counts as an indication of religious belief.
Because to impromptu risk ones life to protect strange woman or children from modern dangers in modern society objectively isn't rational- I agree with him. The deed is a religious sacrament. An act of worship

This comment might be slightly off topic, but in a sense not too much. I also think that the Valkyries are aspects of the divine feminine as well as spirits working on her behalf. I practice Utiseta a lot and it has led me into these insights (sort of). The old Norse (Germanic) mythology/religion clearly has roots in older traditions that has partly been lost in time. The people that settled Northern Europe once migrated in from the east, from a common ancestry that now are politically correct called Proto-Indo-European (originally the Aryans). (Æsir or Aesir) means those who came from the East). In the Hindu religion, the Vedas, there are traces of similarities to the Old Norse religion - or the other way around. The drink called Soma, is probably the sacred mead.
These female entities we call Valkyries are very real. So are other spiritual beings, of different nature. Among these are disembodied dead humans and dark evil entities. (which I believe are degressed spirits of once live people who have descended into darkness and madness due to their wicked ways). In modern western term we may say that the spirits inhabit the astral realm. Spirit possession is also very real, but not in the way we think of it with spirits entering someones physical bodies and taking it over (though it can happen, but it is not very common).
To understand this one has to understand how a human is composed with all its layers of "bodies". There are five of them. The energy body (The Vedas call it Pranamaya kosha) extends far ouside the physical body and inside it is the mental body (where thoughts arise from). These two "layers" are what we call the astral body in modern terms, and it's what some psychics see parts of as the aura. Within these are the physical body. The energy body can be thought of as magnetic. It attracts energy of a similar frequency. The energy body of many humans are "possessed", or hooked up to entities with similar frequency in their energy bodies.
One should be aware of this, because entities can cling to your energy body and they will influence the mental body within and manifest thoughts and impulses in the mind that one believes to be ones own thoughts. This is actually very common. Most of the worlds leaders today are completely possessed in this way. And they have a nasty tendency to sink deeper and degress into more and more evil. It's a reason for the saying that power corrupts. The lust for power attracts entities that are hungry for power too, and some of these are very ancient and very, very evil. The plague tormenting the world today are created by these men, and so are the "cure".
All this being said, I'll turn back to the devine feminine and the Valkyries. These are the entities you want your energy body to be influenced by.
So, let me welcome you to the Matrix. And I mean that in a literal sense. Etymologically it comes from the word 'Mater' "Mother", and it means "Uterus" or "Womb" and also in later Latin can mean "Source". 'Mater' is also the origin of the word "Matter".
What many don't know, is that all of the manifested Universe, all matter, is created out of a feminine energy. God is actually a Goddess. The word 'Nature' comes from 'Natus' meaning birth (e.g nativity, native, pre natal etc.)
Even the body of men is actually a 'distorted' female body. The testicles came from the ovaries, the prostate from the uterus and the rest have their female counterpart too. It never was the other way around. The two sexes (there are only two) only appeared after enormously long stretches of time through the evolution of life.
This knowledge was known for thousands of years on this planet in the ages preceding this one (more than 12000 years ago). The Mother was the Supreme Being and society was matriarchal.
The age we are in now, is an age of darkness. These ages cycles from one to another over vast stretches of time, and they are necessary for the expansion of consciousness. This is where and why we got spiritually distorted. It came to fruition with the three patriarchal monotheistic religions we know today. For thousands of years leading up to this, we find different cultures and mythologies with a gradual shift in the mode of thinking. The old Germanic and old Norse one being somewhat in between in their understanding of the Universal order, but they still had a great deal of respect for the feminine aspect of creation.
The patriarchy rose through the minds of lesser men who feared the feminine and sought to subvert and control it. Never was the hate of the feminine greater than now.
These 'men' have done everything their twisted fantasy could come up with to destroy women and by that the feminine and by that the Goddess. They've burned her at the stakes, kept her in veils, locked her up, told her to shut up and not speak and kept her from protecting her children (the last being an unforgivable transgression)
It's even in our language, when we say that something is irrelevant, we say it doesn't matter...
The last great cataclysm, and the fall of the great civilization of Atlantis, was brought about by these lesser men. When the remnants slowly rose from the ashes, the patriarchal religions rose with us, and are still "calling the shots" (yes, war is a product of the patriarchy).
I can feel the energy of The Goddess. And I can tell you this; She has had enough. In this age, when she returns, she will return as Kali. And the Valkyries are riding again, and they can easily be tuned into.
There will be hard times ahead of us because the patriarchs won't go silently into the night. But there is an awakening going on, and more and more people are sensing this energy. The shift is approaching, but it's always darkest before dawn. Even many men today, who are truly masculine in the real sense of the word, understands this. And they are willing to do what it takes, as Knut Karstensen wrote in his comment. I totally agree. It's a religious sacrament. An act of worship.

Yes, do a video on the Norn/Valkyrie crazy experience you had please. Though anecdotal, that is an experience I know is worth the story around the camp fire for us of this community channel. I think many of us who come here have our own anecdotal stories to tell.
I feel that this break down and sourced material is very crucial for Neo-Animists like ourselves. I don’t enjoy ever saying “I feel” concerning my analysis. To feel in place of reason first is a true faux pas in most situations, but this? Wow. This is information I have needed for quite a long time and never had the resources to obtain it. This video will be crucial in the future, many will come to this. Great work, as usual! Blessaður

I am roughly 60% Scandinavian (mostly Swedish) and 40% Eastern European (Polish Baltic region) and have been a lucid dreamer since childhood. I have attempted deep meditation with the intent of astral projection but am still wary because of some fears I've encountered in lucid dreaming regarding my level of control. My great grandmother was from Vasterbotten and left memoirs of the Sami reindeer herders there. She was named Hildur.

fantastic video = thank you. I had a quantum hypnosis session where I experienced my own death in this life and as I died I 'released' a Valkyrie who comforted me in my moment of death. She was joined by her sisters who were all celebrating that we had won. I was then transported back to my 'home' and was able to explain how home was - how we lived - what we did and what we ate etc. We were fighting a battle involving a crystal city/ Incredible mind blowing experience - and all without the aid of any substances. Keep up the good work.

I have experienced moments of Lucid Dreaming, it felt like I was there in person. I have always for as long as I can remember had this happen to me. When I was a child I had no idea and thought they were "normal" and I would wake unsure about what I dreamt but as I've grown older I've felt more open to them and not as confused afterwards. I would love to watch more videos like this and will definatly check out your shapeshifter/hugr video.

Oh you know I so watched every sec of this video, with S. J. Tuckers Valkyrie playing in the background ! Very validating interpretation to me, I do a lot of dream time work & this video just hit home, it's so reflective of what I do. With Berkana's guidance to help me channel that energy properly. Day time meditations I love, especially in nature or along a beach . Funny you mention the battle at Dublin, I was there on vaca a few years ago. Walking along the ocean side & piers it was so quite no one was out the weather was wet cold but the breeze was not bad it didn't bother me at all. I had some pretty wild post cognitive flashes there.

Having sort of recently come out of Christianity, I have been super-reluctant to look at any after-life or spirits stuff upon learning of my Danish Viking heritage. But a recent event has me scratching my head. I learned about part of my ancestry and that there is a ruins of the house built by a Gott nearby. I went to visit it. It's in raw woods so it was tough going for my almost-64yo self, but when I saw it I was filled with emotion somehow. I had to touch it. All that's left is basically just one wall with a fireplace built of fieldstone. The property also has four grave sinks that are unidentified: I would presume them to be builder and wife and then (due to primogeniture) son and wife, but I don't know. Anyway, as I was trying to navigate around to take pictures and to look up the fireplace flu, my feet got tangled in the vines and rocks and, losing my balance, I started to fall down the 15-foot embankment. I SHOULD have fallen and gotten pretty hurt out there in the middle of the woods, which would have been very bad, very dangerous, but at the last moment, I felt "caught" and prevented from falling. That's the only way I can describe it. For now I will chalk it up to the loving arms of my 6xgreat grandfather who built the house. HONOR those ancestors, folks.

Wow thank you for this valuable insight. I have a soul aspect that is in the Valkyrie realms; while the soul aspect does not live within my body, it is apart of my soul and I can send it forward to battle, just like you were saying about the Hugr.
We are all multidimensional beings - our soul is split off into 1000s of shard aspects, which make up the entire soul as one. So, it makes sense that “back in time” they were aware of this “superpower” and could utilize it to its fullest capacity. But, the truth is we can all do the same thing in this day in age in the now moment. This information has been lost in time. You are here to bring it back into this reality, so that it can be used once again, so thank you for your service to humanity!

So good to hear these things spoken about honestly. This myth of viking warrior women has no archaeological back up. The idea of projecting "magick" shields makes perfect sense. A shield isn't just a physical shelter from violence either. It can be a shield for so many things in so many ways. Osteologists are the key.
