I commented a few weeks back about my inspiration to train despite being medically disabled since birth. I hate-watched these videos thinking the whole time how sickening it was that I “could never do any of that”, but HUGE UPDATE! I wanted to let anyone know, if they see this, I started PT and “train” twice a week, and now I can ride a stationary bike for nearly a two full minutes without stopping!! 1 minute and 54 seconds is my record!! Totally exhausting but I did it, and I’m really proud, and my PT even says “we ascend together” to pump me up. I’m even raising money now for my own research into my illness by doing a marathon stream! Anyways thanks again Cody 🫡💪
cody's cardiovascular endurance is so insane to me like he just straight up rides the bike for 4 HOURS but when I have to walk up a slightly steep hill I feel like I'm being waterboarded because I am so out of breathe. Solely doing cardio for cody at this point
Cody, I ran my first marathon yesterday in San Antonio, TX (Run the Alamo Marathon) & I saw someone holding a “Energy is Everything” sign. Unfortunately I saw it right when I was running past them otherwise I would’ve given them the choo-choo signal. But it made me smile since I first discovered this channel right when I started training for the race. Thank you so much for the inspiring & entertaining videos you make & I wish you the best in your Ironman next month!
Loving the cat cameos every week. ALSO if you haven’t already it might be a good idea to measure your sweat rate before race day so you aren’t over/under hydrating!! Hyponatremia can actually be more common than dehydration due to overconsumption of fluids! Signed - an exercise science BS who’s now working on an MS :)
@@samshaw7087 okay at its most basic, it’s just weighing yourself in Kg before and after aerobic exercise. To get the most accurate reading, prepare for aerobic exercise by only hydrating, aka don’t take caffeine/pre/creatine/etc. Then weigh yourself in the lightest clothing you can (helps keep things more precise) but make sure it’s in Kg! This is important since 1 L of water weighs ~1 Kg. It’s easiest to do 1 hour of exercise for math purposes, but you aren’t supposed to drink water during it and I can tell you from experience that your mouth gets DRY, so it’s more comfortable to just do 30 minutes and multiply by 2. After time, weigh again and (if your scale was calibrated and you’re wearing the same amount of clothes), you should have lost around 1-2 Kg per hour, which would mean you sweat 1-2 L per hour! A lot of people lose more or less though, so knowing can help you track your if you’re actually replacing the right amount of fluid during and after exercise. I hope that helped :)
My knee was collapsing after my first half marathon. Super bizarre. It felt like one of my legs was shorter than the other! And it lasted for like a month. Currently training for my first full in May. Ran my furthest ever this Saturday. 15 miles! WE ASCEND TOGETHER, YALL.
@@vangoghkart452 I went and got some inserts and I used them for all of 10 days and haven’t touched them since lol. Honestly, I don’t know what changed but it just eventually went away. Rest and stretching. I ran maybe a total of 10 miles the month following my half. I’m two months into my full marathon training and have zero issue with it. I think my knee was just exhausted. #staysoft
@@rutherke41 this is so encouraging to read, I ran my first half one week ago and this is happening to me as well. I’ve been resting and stretching and icing religiously haha. Finally starting to feel a bit better but it’s super frustrating when you want to get back to training. just have to be patient I guess 😅
Ran a marathon in October and had experienced a lot of pain in the first few months of training- but when I stopped pressuring myself to be fast or look cool and ran comfortably w good form, my pain went away. Still ran the marathon at a time I was proud of and w no pain at all! Glad your pain is getting a bit better.
Cody thanks to you my wife only wants to eat oats and wake up at 4:30am now. Also, she's really into her male coworker who she likens to a locomotive in the sack. Cheers mate this channel has done wonders.
Hi Cody! Just wanted to let you know that I started training for a marathon around the time you started this channel & it’s been great to see you progress. I’ve had a numbing feet issue when running & I’ve tried numerous methods to try to fix it but nothing has helped YET. Seeing you work through some of the setbacks that you’ve had motivated me to keep going while still taking care of myself. So thank you for filming both the good & the bad. Heavily appreciated!
Hey Cody I’m encouraged by all your doing here. I’m a D1 athlete with a knee thing that just came up and it’s so frustrating. Seeing you doing well with your injury helps a lot
Just finished a four mile run. You inspired me to start running again. I have completed two official half marathons in the past but the panerama depression hit me hard. I gained like 50lbs during that time. I’m now 25 lbs down and building my miles. Choo choooooo!!!!!
I absolutely hate exercise, I have no interest in races or marathons, but yet I still for some strange reason find myself so interested in these videos and find myself watching every time you post. It’s weird, but it’s kind of cool. 🤷🏻♀️😄 I wish you the best of luck with the race! P.S. Your cat is absolutely adorable and deserves the world! 🥰
One thing you may consider is trying to get as many runs on a surface other than pavement aka dirt or gravel paths/roads and grass. I noticed when I used to run competitively, running on soft surface increased my longevity and decreased my rate of injury significantly. I'd sometimes even settle for mind numbing loops on a grass soccer field (10 miles worth) just to avoid the pavement. Was able to survive 100-110 mile weeks this way. Just grab some music and zone out. Your body may feel sore if you start running more on soft surface, but I usually found this was because all my stability muscles had to work a little bit harder - still worth it. Keep grinding!
Woo, go Cody! I’ve followed you forever, and this is now easily my favorite content. ALSO, for anyone starting or trying to get into running, I’m posting my weekly training plan for my first marathon on shorts. It’s literally from couch to marathon so great for any beginners, anyone recovering from an injury, or anyone looking to just build up strength sustainably overtime!
I’ve been on and off with my fitness goals for a while and it just seems to be some sort of bad habit. Coming back every week to watch Codytrains always puts a boost into my motivation. Cody’s stats always amazes me because I’ve never been in shape enough to do anything close to what he does. But everyone’s progress is their own and you can only compare yourself to you. Thanks Cody for that boost in motivation!
Just rode my first century ride last weekend! It was a good feeling to have it done and these videos definitely played a part in motivating me to train. I'm curious if you've had a professional bike fit done! If not, that would be a great topic to cover in one of these.
I have been so lazy / not exercised at all recently, I but watched a couple of these videos over the last week and have been swimming 3 times, going to start some pilates this week and get back into cycling. Thanks for the inspo (+ all the comments from others in similar situations has really helped)
finally someone understands the elite combo of peanut butter and butter sandwiches i used to get bullied for bringing them to lunch in elementary school
these videos always make me laugh and are just good vibes. i can relate so hard to the injury stuff too. hope you feel better soon also i tried granola in oats too and i’m not mad at it..
Is peanut butter + butter sandwich a Calgary thing? Someone I knew from Calgary learned it from their mom too. Anyway these videos are so fun to watch especially with the wild weather in Socal. Love how chill and good these cats are with Cody holding them up for goofs. Thank you for making these videos and committing to working out while it's cold and raining!
Cody thank you so much for these videos. They honest to god get me through my weeks. I started running again completely because of you. You've no idea what difference these videos make
Cody……. My wife bought a stopper for our garbage disposal so the cats would accidentally blend each other up like you described… I thought she was crazy for fearing that but apparently she’s not alone 😂
You describing how you might keep getting injured because of a weird gait made me laugh so much because I had the same thing except I only realised once I was getting rid of a bunch of shoes and saw how the soles of my left shoes were always slightly more worn down. Turned out I distributed my weight slightly 'off'. Was paranoid about how I walk and run for a good minute after that
Just started working out again over the past week after about a year and a half - I had a bad bike accident a few years ago and it's been hard to be consistent since. Thanks for your vids Cody! You the real deal

Not train related, but one of those flat gaskets for a bathtub (looks like a disk, made of rubber) might help with the garbage disposal. It will be harder for the cats to get into it and they’ll probably lose interest.
hey cody, it's me again. In case you've forgotten I'm the sad guy. It's been a rough week a lil bit bro. did that bum you out? if it did, it's probably because you also know it is true that I did in fact have a rough one. rather not get too deep into it this week. glad to see you've been trying to heal that knee, I'll see you next week. congrats again to you and kelsey.

SAME. That’s the hardest part of the day for me, so those moments feel like solidarity 😂
I’d watch TF out of a “Energy Is Everything” pod where Cody just goes for runs with people. An hour of gabbin with some pseudo athletes.
Yess, THIS!! I would not miss a single episode.
