      I wish there was a background box behind the text to make it pop more. It’s so hard to read as it overlaps the screen footage. It’s also too close to the bottom of the screen.

    I majored in Japanese and at my school unfortunately the majority of classes were literally like political stuff and writing classes. But the amount I learned about Japanese history and culture cannot be understated. But for me, most of the actual language learning had to be done on my own. It was almost like I majored in "Japan" more than "Japanese," if that makes sense.
    Also, idk if you've already figured this out since this video is almost a year old, but instead of saying "Q&A video" you can say 質問コーナー. It's a more Japanese way of saying Q&A Video. とにかく、this is unrelated but I really love your soft voice! It makes me relaxed :D
    edit: i really liked how you said that it matters more that you are happy than about your job after uni. it may be coming from a privileged perspective, but i agree with you in full. learning and happiness is the most important thing. plus, if you study the same thing as everyone else in uni, you have nothing to set yourself apart.

    I've followed you since you started uni, and as I haven't seen your videos for a while (the algorithm stopped recommending them for a while) I am super impressed with your progress in the past half year! It's truly amazing how fluent you've started to speak. I can tell you're speaking faster and with more confidence, without thinking too much about how to say what you want to say. Truly amazing and inspiring.

( planning to lmao )Your videos help me prepare by being organized and seeing how the classes will go. Your really helpful and your videos also just motivate me to study!! Before I study anything I always rewatch your vlogs and then I feel 100% motivated to work. Also, I can see your working really hard on the videos and on your studies. You study a lot in Japanese language and for school and it’s really helping a lot of people become a hard worker like you. Good job!! I hope work as hard as you when I’m older lol😊

    i would love to do business/finances abroad (especially in japan), so i know that i want to major in business and/or international studies. japanese is the language i want to learn most, especially if i am working abroad. would you suggest minoring in japanese or getting some sort of degree in it? i only just started my HS sophomore year in america so i don't know that much about how college works... but i've been self-studying japanese for about six months now. they don't have japanese classes and my high school so i'm considering getting a tutor so i can learn quicker and have a better schedule.

    • @jazminelayah9302
      @jazminelayah9302  2 роки тому +3

      I would 100% suggest minoring in Japanese! This will be perfect guidance for your self studies after university, especially for the JLPT. That is the actual exam that is required to work in Japan …but if this is a way for you to have face to face classes with a real Japanese teacher at first, I would highly recommend minoring or doing it as a whole degree 💕💕

    You can learn from anime lmfao. Is it content made by native speakers for other native speakers? Yes. So why would you not? Ohh, because that's not how they speak irl? No shit, it's almost like it's a show and not a recording of real life people speaking to each other. Now do you think that when you reach a high level of proficiency in a language you won't be able to tell apart normal speach vs tv show speach? Yep, you can and you will. When you reach native level understanding of a language, shit like this doesn't matter. I've watched southpark when I was immersing in English and I don't talk like Eric Cartman because I know and always knew he wasn't speaking like how a normal person would. Now I don't deny that you'll need to watch more than just anime, but as long as the content you're immersing in is made by native speakers then it's all good.
    Also turn off those damn English subs, if you keep them on than you're not actually immersing. Yeah you might be also looking at those japanese subs but your brain will subconsciously focus on just the English subs and you won't learn that much.

      Any tips for learning the language?

    • @renee424
      @renee424 2 роки тому

      @@kimberlyromero7382 I'm not OP, but here's some tips if you wanna start learning Japanese using only free resources ^^ If you can afford it though, I would highly recommend getting a teacher (though having a friend you can practice Japanese with can be good too). This is rlly long tho, sorry😓 (I added a tldr at the end though)
      First of all, I would recommend studying kana first! Kana is compromised of katakana and hiragana, and is one of the three writing systems used in Japan. I suggest you focus on the latter (hiragana) first since it's more often used than the former (katakana). Also, I would recommend NOT to learn Japanese through romaji, you'll just have a harder time learning and it'll mess your pronunciation up. In terms of learning resources, I would highly recommend the app "Write it! Japanese" for learning kana. It really makes sure you remember the proper stroke order, and it helped me a lot with getting used to kana. There's a bunch of hiragana practice videos here on UA-cam too, so you can also use those to improve your reading speed.
      Once you get the hang of reading and writing kana, I would recommend learning atleast a few vocabulary before delving into grammar and kanji. You can use the app 'bunpo' on play store, where you can learn all- if not- most of the vocabulary you need for N5 level, which is pretty much the utmost basic level of Japanese. The rest of the app's content is under a paywall, unfortunately, but getting to learn the basics is good enough when you're just starting out imo. Again, UA-cam has a lot of good resources for free :)
      And oh yeah, at this point, learning vocabs in just their kana form is perfectly fine- especially if you're just starting out. I'd recommend you start studying the basic nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs too. The website 'JLPT sensei' has vocab lists per JLPT level, but it's probably more beginner-friendly to learn them in the 'bunpo' app first THEN look up words you don't know in the website. Looking up example sentences can also help understanding them!
      Regarding kanji, I'm currently just 'studying' them alongside vocabulary as I mentioned before. And by that, I mean that I learn them from vocabs. I would advice against trying to study every single reading a kanji has since it's just gonna fry your brain. But hey, if you want to do that, you can😅
      **Being able to recognise kanji through mnemonics (stories based off of the kanji's components called 'radicals') can be very beneficial in the long run too. It doesn't teach you the readings, but it can be helpful for whenever you come across an unknown kanji, since it give you a general idea of what it means based on its radicals. 'Remembering the Kanji' is a great resource for this! This isn't necessary for beginners level, actually 😅 Just thought to include it if you're really serious about learning the writing system of the language.**
      Anyways, after learning the basic vocabs (and some kanji as well), you can try and start with grammar! I think the best way to learn grammar is through an actual person explaining it to you- especially an actual Japanese- so I would recommend watching UA-cam tutorials for that. 'Japanese Ammo with Misa' and 'Masa Sensei' are great since they're both native Japanese speakers and provide a good amount of examples for you to understand the grammar structures well. If you prefer studying through written text, I would recommend the website 'nihongolibrary.com'. They have free resources for JLPT N5-4 level, which is pretty much beginner-level Japanese. They also have exercises with answer keys so you can consolidate what you've learned through that.
      Oh yeah, I should mention that you don't have to study Japanese in the exact order I listed, it's up to you if you wanna begin grammar or vocabs first. You should definitely still start with kana, but you can study the rest in whatever order as long as you give an equal amount of time and effort into studying all of them.
      After this, it's best to immerse yourself in the language! You can do this by reading manga, comics and simple stories in Japanese, watching anime and anything that is spoken in the language, etc- immerse yourself in whatever you enjoy but in Japanese ^^ If there are vocabs or grammar structures you don't know, you can just search them up online. Starting simple with basic fairy tail stories can be a good start. It's extremely difficult at first, but it's the best and most efficient way to learn Japanese, from what I've heard from other language learners. You just gotta persevere and work hard💪
      tldr; start with kana (esp hiragana) and don't learn Japanese through romaji only. Try studying some basic vocabs after, then some kanji too and how they are read in words; you can also learn kanji through mnemonics. After, try getting into some basic grammar- do some practice tests after just to consolidate the info you learned. Then, immerse yourself in the language- if you come across something you don't know, just search it up.
      PS: i'm actually still in the process of getting into intermediate level Japanese, and these are just how I learned beginner-level stuff myself :) I'm not a native english speaker, but i hope what I said made sense and that it can be helpful to you. Goodluck and have fun on your language learning journey!
