I'm very excited to say that I will be passing on the supplies I unboxed today to one of you. Growing up, I didn't have a lot of art supplies, but I've grown up, entered the workforce, and (thanks to you!) have had the opportunity to test art products for free. It feels very selfish to hold on to these supplies. I simply can't use them all. It saddens me to know they are sitting on my shelf abandoned when someone else could give them the love they deserve.
I'm running a contest over on my website, www.drawingwiffwaffles.com/giveaway to pass these supplies on. If this runs smoothly Id really like to do this more often, (with bigger/better items,) so I thank you in advance for your patience and understanding.
I looked into the legality of it, and while I'm not opposed to shipping the prize internationally, its simply not legal for me to do so. (Especially Quebec...? omg) Laws really baffle me. I've seen plenty of youtuber's hold contests internationally so I had no idea there could be legal repercussions for trying to be generous. As I said earlier, I want to do this properly and legally. I'm testing the waters, please be patient as i try to figure this out and I hope you enter if you can! Good luck!

I wanna get one of these one day, not exclusively because the supplies are better than mine but just because it would be pretty cool to have someone else pick some random supplies/mediums for me! owo
its really fun! (i'm a little desensitized because I get so many now, but I remember what it was like when I got my first ones) not knowing what'll be inside, then being forced to use brand new supplies you've never even heard of before. its really a rush!
I would probably do that too, but also to be relatable to all of these artist on YT with these subscription boxes and talking about this stuff and i don't get it, I DON'T UNDERSTAND THE PROBLEM WITH THAT
I'm not sure if its still going on, but Artsnacks had a sale over the summer where you could get some of their overstocked boxes from 2017 for just $13. It was really kind of a steal, and I ended up getting a couple for the same price as getting 1 of the current month. Its a good way to try out some new materials that you might not think to grab for yourself when you're shopping for individual supplies.
I've been doing the Scrawlrbox one for a few months and it's been fun, I've tried things I would never have bought on my own, for some reason I'm more wiling to experiment with supplies I get this way over the ones I pay for directly...even though I'm still paying for them....I've been thinking of trying Artsnacks out for a bit to see how different they may be.
A Artist animations ArtSnacks is so fun, I've been getting it since January. It's a really nice challenge because there are a lot of months where you get sent things you may not have thought to try on your own. I am sure that could be said about all art subscription boxes, but I've only ever tried ArtSnacks.
The name "Art Snacks" reminds me of when I mindlessly reach for my dirty paint glass thinking it's my drinking water, I haven't actually drank it yet but I feel like it's just a matter of time before I stupidly forget XD

I hear that Arches watercolor paper is REALLY good. A lot of people I follow on UA-cam use it and they say that it’s stronger and can withstand a lot more. Personally I’ve never used it because it’s a little on the pricey side because it’s artist grade not student. I’ve found it to be a bit cheaper on Amazon. Hope this helps!!
Can verify that arches watercolour paper is amazing. I use the canson one as well, and while not as expensive, you can get some similar results as long as you are patient ✌ (and everything is more expensive in australia, but the price disparity is probably similar in the states)
In terms of paper texture, i tend towards the medium and rough in the Arches paper because thats what i like, but they do have a smooth kind as well (and all their papers come in different gsms as well) ✌✌✌
ruth i use saa practice paper 100 sheets £30. its 15 x 11 140lb takes a lot of water. if you wish you can pre stretch.
I get my Arches from a store that always has a 40% off coupon to cut the price, and I only use it for more polished works. I doodle and practice on strathmore or in a sketchbook.

Watercolor paper is so finicky. And it's hard to find high quality ones without losing your life's savings. I personally try to use as few layers as possible. Also having a hairdryer handy to dry things faster is always a good idea. The more wet the paper is the more likely the brush is going to scrape off layers of it. So i like to keep it dry.
Really like how the drawing turned out by the way! I like seeing you experiment with more realistic styles.

To be honest, art supply unboxings are some of my favorite videos, of the ones you make. I like learning about new art supplies, and then watching you use all of them in a drawing, or what not. It's really quite interesting.

I really like unboxing videos especially scrawlrbox since you get a prompt! It would be cool if since this box doesn’t have a prompt if you came up with a random prompt (or use a random prompt generator online or asked your viewers) before you open the box! Extra Challenge!☺️😁

Arches Watercolor Paper is AMAZING! It's really expensive BUT it's absolutely worth it! I only use it for finished long term paintings! I use Strathmore Watercolor Paper for everyday doodles or paintings! I like Canson Watercolor Paper for charcoal drawings (works better than charcoal Paper). Also, if your Paper starts buckling wait until it dries, paint the back of it with water then put it under something heavy the Paper will straighten out!

My aunt Kate (who is an artist) got me an ArtSnack’s subscription two years ago for Christmas! I really enjoyed opening the boxes and seeing what I got! And I always got really neat supplies. I kinda hope she does the subscription again because it was so cool and fun to open one every month!

Whenever I do watercolouring my paper crumbles and shrinks I guess and it's just not a pretty sight. I want to know what I could do to reduce that. Thanks in advance! And also, that blending with blue and green "was fine" , "just fine"
I don't think it's your watercolors but the paper that you're using
You need to use watercolor paper and if its cheap also tape it down.
If its a lesser quality paper, try not to overload it with water too quickly. Give it a chance to dry before going overtop with another colour. It makes it a longer process, but if you're new to watercolours that might not be such a bad thing. Take the opportunity to go slow and really learn your style! ✌✌
