I don't know what he wrote for Howard but Jackie was funny to laugh at not with. His cheapness, his white trashiness, his resentment and that money pit wife of his were comedy gold in the hands of someone like Stern.
Really? *Anthony would had been with Stern if he was slightly less funny* but Ant showed up for the most part on time haha and didn’t have the issues of that chair. H and A!!!
@@Crashawsome I think that's because Howard always kept his mic down. But Anthony is more generous with his mic volume so he should have let Jokeman is it? Sit in for Robin's news segment.... Doesn't Anthony do a Robin's news?
@@mang_ELcheese I don't know if that's an excuse for him not being funny. There was so many times where Howard was trying to get something out of him, and he would just shut down the conversation by playing dumb. His funniest comeback was to promote his next show.
He still can't tell a story to save his life. Jackie, a story should have a beginning, a middle and a funny ending. He's all over the place and then laughs at the lame punch line.
I always brag that I hooked up Jackie & Fred w/Stern in DC 1982.I ghostwrote for Stern 11 yrs later 1993-95 thru Jackie by sending him pretty weekly cass tapes w/show ideas. Then when I wanted to get hiredJackie went to bat for me,said I was funny, but Howard wouldn't budge. Not hired. Then about 10 yrs later I had to beg Howard, thru Robin to hire Jackie to do his own Surius radio chan show,so Jackie could plug his gigs again.Biggest Jackie fan in Delaware.
Many years ago when the drinking age was 18 and colleges had bars Jackie opened for George Thorogood who was just starting out. We snuck around to the dressing rooms. Thorogood wanted nothing to do with us but when we went to Jackies room he was super nice and offered us a piece of fruit or a soda which was the entirety of what they provided for him. We were two snot nosed 18 year olds but he treated us like we were friends.
The show was never the same without Jackie. It was great with Artie but Jackie brought that 5 year old humor to the show just made a 2 hour commute fly by. Those years when it was Howard, Robin, Jackie, Fred and Billy in the studio were the absolute golden era. I used to pray for traffic so I could hear more of the show. You can't pay me enough to listen to the show today. I never in my wildest dream would believe I would hate the show considering how big of a fan I was.
Ant has made people laugh. He is a totally racist, gun nut asshole, but that doesn't change the fact that he is very talented and funny. Martling is a fucking disgrace to comedy. He must have had pics/video of Stern fucking children.
Jackie jas only ever been funny when reading out his jokes. He was rarely funny in the studio and his arguments with Dice and Howard showed none of his writing talent.
Jackie talks about not being recognised for his talent, but Jay Leno had 20 writers at a time, and the only one anyone knows is Stuttering John, and he wasn't even a writer.
@@ronnimm6456He did admit Jackie's worth. Saying he didn't is revisionism. Still, Arty and other were an upgrade over Jackie, we need to talk about that too.
When Stuttering John was filming his bits for this he was acting the big shot and being illusive enough so that it would appear what he was filming was about him. His ego just couldn't come out and say "Oh, yeah, I filmed some interview stuff for a documentary on Jackie..." He was more like: "I'm spending the day with a film crew today for a big project."
artie had a great one too and fans on here even make artie laughing compilations, and its no coincidence that jackie, artie and even robin all had very unique and funny laughs because stern knew that having someone with a funny laugh on his show would only make him and the show seem even funnier, jackies laugh is one of my greatest memories from the 90s

Of course he was a great part of the original stern crew, but I never found his standup good. Also dont know if he is interesting enough to watch a doc.
They ask him about the "rainbow room incident" and asked him whatever happened to that jetty? They ask him about the Artie year's/ Jackie's dark years and I believe they close out by asking him how much he was paid to be in the movie about the Italian Senator circa 2005.....
@@HSGsabu66I swear I do not believe Artie was as bad off as he let on. I think it's his "image". Trying to be cool like Keith Richards or Jimi Hendrix or hell Lenny Bruce............. HE AINT.
I can't stand the real Stuttering John as he's a douchebag but John's celebrity trolling on the red carpet really helped the show kick off as it was beyond hilarious especially for the time period . Jackie and Anthony are standup guys. Jackie goes out of his way to let people know Anthony did the movie for free, while risking furthering his reputation of being cheap. And Anthony just wanted to do the doc to be a bud. Nice touch at the end by both.
