I don’t think I’ve ever seen him so excited about taste testing, cause he’s so spoiled by your cooking. Don’t think he knows how rare a thing for women to cook these days. Smile. You should be proud Mrs V.

Thank you for your videos 😊 Second time using it for reference. It’s like having my Grandma Betty showing me exactly what to do. I hadn’t had this jelly since she passed 25+ years ago…brings back memories of picking her tree and spending the day with her. I was so happy to find a couple trees in our little 5 acre woods! Fingers crossed that it turns out! (Still feels odd not using wax to seal the jelly but I like having less work!)

I have watched your videos for years and I think I am ready to give canning a try. I took quilting classes right after I watched you put a grandmother's flower garden quilt together. Thank you for all your knowledge and sharing it with everyone. God Bless and take care, until the next one.

I've missed watching your videos! It's like revisiting an old friend. This is my absolute favorite jelly. Brings back such fond memories of my Mom and our neighbor making huge batches of this❤️

Great video, third year making crabapple jelly from my own yard. Every year I rewatch this video, just for a refresh. I’ve made some spicy jelly these last few years with jalapeños I grow and red pepper flakes and whole pepper kernels, this hot jelly is great with goat cheese on a cracker. Thanks again Bev

I love that Mr. Volfie is just standing there waiting impatiently for his toast..lol My dad used to do that when I would make food too. Mom would tease him about it because she cooked for him every day but when I came over or they came to my house he acted like he hadn't eaten in a month..lol

Once again, you’re an inspiration. You are an excellent teacher. I don’t have crab apples, but I have a bag of small Asian pears. I’m gonna see if it works similarly. I’m guessing it’ll need an acid. I may infuse some mint instead of cinnamon and add lime juice for acid. The pulp, if tasty, I can turn into fruit leather. And this morning, I was debating what to do.... like you... don’t like to see something go to waste.

Wonderful. The clarity alone makes me want to make this. Thank you for sharing. When we were kids a neighbor had a tree, they didn't mind us getting the apples . Most people make the mistake of cooking or trying to cook too much jelly at one time. You should never cook more than six cups of juice and 6 cups of sugar at one time or it won't set. You can re-cook it. Just no more than six cups at one time.

    @ Mrs. Volfie ,
You should have a giveaway and give some of your jarred jams away ( I would definitely do whatever to be able to participate in that ..just a thought 😄😘 what do you think ?)
Also Jelly & Jams are the one thing that my husband and I just will not do. I don’t have the patience and don’t have the energy to do the clean-up and jarring time afterwards. I deal with chronic rheumatoid arthritis and suffer from not being able to stand up for long periods of time, and jelly/jams just take too much of my energy. And ESPECIALLY because jams are so messy and can get very sticky really fast. I will on the other hand purchase already homemade jams at the my local farmers market, I know the vendors and it’s easier to just buy them from somebody who is healthier and who can deliver an organic locally sourced top quality product. This recipe does look amazing though !

So you use just the pectin from the apples themselves?

Could I get your apple butter recipe? Also, how could I make apple butter out of the scraps left over from the jelly? I do not have a food mill or a food processor.

Thank you for sharing this!❤ I had never heard of it. Does the turning bitter count for all canning? I just canned some pickles and I left the cloves in..... 😕

thanks for the great tutorial. our jelly was a success and now, as you mentioned, we would love to use the pulp for applebutter. do we follow any old apple butter recipe or do you do something different?

What?! It's really that easy?? I have a crabapple tree in my yard and have never done anything with them. Warranted, I have an ornamental one in my yard so they're smaller and I read they are a little more bitter, but I just picked some to do a small batch and if it's good I'm harvesting the rest tomorrow!!

Bev, how does crab apple jelly compare to regular apple jelly? I'm sooooo curious about it now! Your jelly turned out so beautiful!
