Everyone complains about the loss of Ms. Pac-Man, but nobody ever asks what happened to Junior Pac-Man. Junior Pac-Man was my favorite game in the series, and a true arcade port has never happened. The Atari 2600 version changed the maze from horizontal scrolling to vertical scrolling, and the version included on the genesis version of Pac-Man 2 was just a hack of Ms. Pac-Man. My kingdom for an accurate port of Junior Pac-Man!!
@W B no. Junior Pac-Man was an arcade game released in 1983 by midway while they were localizing namco games in America. The machines still exist and are quite expensive. My complaint is that the arcade game was never properly ported to modern consoles. The game WAS an arcade game, it WASN'T crappy, and you don't even know what you're talking about!
I would guess it's because Ms pacman is in it and all the legal stuff they don't want to deal with and they didn't want to modify it. I mean they have 'Pac in Time' but no 'Pacman 2' AKA: 'Hello Pacman'? Probably the same issue unfortunately
They just need to make an entire compilation with all the spinoffs like adventurers in time and maze madness plus having that pinball game on the gba would not sting as much
Not sure how everyone else feels, but I’d have loved a virtual pinball version of baby pac man. I still love playing it when I come across it in retro arcades. Although I’m not sure how well that would have translated over.
@@Cyborg647 it was a hybrid video game and pinball game. I played it in arcades back in the day. The top portion was a video game, similar to regular pac-man, with 1-2 tunnels pointing down. When you escaped down one of those tunnels, the lower pinball portion would begin. Truly unique. I haven’t seen it in decades.
1:53 This was actually how arcades first worked when arcades were first coming out. It was basically gambling. But gambling was outlawed, and now kids had access to it. So the country of the U.S.A. (at least) took it out on pinball. Which was different to modern pinball. No flippers. So they added the flippers and just made the game about scores and it was no longer gambling.
Just downloaded this on Xbox game pass and had a fun time playing. Not sure if I would pay $19.99 or 29.99 for a physical copy … but on game pass 100% worth the download! Great review!
Does the game show up on your Achievments list? I got 3 Xbox Achiements and when I went to check the rest of them the game isn't in the list, really odd.
I was really shocked when I saw that pac n roll remix and Pac motos were included in the game due to how more of a second thought they really are in terms of a pac man collection game.
We need Tate mode on the Switch. That should have been a no-brainer considering that The Arcade Archives versions have the option as well as Namco Museum. Tate mode with a Flip Grip is the best way to play some of these games.
I picked this up on Steam and it works perfectly on the Steam Deck. Controls could be a bit tighter, but I think this could be due to the original arcade games were 4 point controls and modern systems are 8 point controls and if you use diagnol on analog stick it confuses the game. Using rdpad is the way to go.
It's a great set of games and it's cool to have CE and Arrange on the Steam Deck, but... man, it's laggy. I don't know if the Switch version is better, but the input lag on some of the faster games really sucks. As the review says the bezels are also bad and the CRT filter is atrocious. It sucks that these types of compilations never go that extra bit further to prevents those types of issues.

Definitely hope this game gets some extra games as DLC. Probably the easiest addition would be the NES demake of Championship Edition, I honestly think that version is better than the original. Another possible one is Championship Edition DX, probably my favorite Pac-Man game? Would be great to have a version on modern consoles.

It's a very addictive collection. Worth it for games like Pac Attack and Arrangement alone in my eyes, but it's missing a few key titles and doesn't have much use for those coins.
Played it on Xbox via Game Pass. Lots of issues. CRT filter looks poor due to uneven scanlines. Pac-land and Pac-mania have jerky scrolling. No CRT filter option for console games. Camera X-axis in the museum is inverted, with no option to change it. Cannot redefine any of the controls. No bilinear filtering option. Can't disable or change bezels. And finally, no Ms. Pac-man. I'm very disappointed. I won't be buying it unless they fix all of these things.
I believe both of those games had refresh rates between 55-60HZ so unless the Xbox's VRR supports 40HZ and up, and you have a compatible monitor, there's the reason.
One issue I have had with the digital version on switch is this, once in awhile it seems like the audio in different games gets kind of screwy. Like for example, playing Pac-Attack, or even the OG Pac-Man, the sound sometimes becomes garbled or scratchy sounding and the only way to really "fix" it is to exit the game and restart. Not sure if this is an emulation issue or what.
There's one major gripe I have with this collection. The fact that they couldn't add Ms. Pac-Man to this. Ms. Pac-Man is such a classic. Not to mention, where's Jr. Pac-Man? It's unfortunate that ALL Pac-Man related games couldn't be featured on this.
I hope it’s something they can fix. For a moment I thought maybe Pac-Mania and Pac-Attack just sounded ugly by design, but then it switched back to sounding ok.
Software sound emulation is always a bit and miss even if a software emulator is 'cycle accurate' Heck even the God-tier MisterFPGA's sound reproduction can miss the mark depending on the implementation.
5:47 for anyone who has played this on the gamebube/ps2 etc that's the wrong bezel for pacman arrangement 1 also I've played that game 2 player and the second player is puke man (green) so idk why they would remove it.
I don’t like the in-game coins. This technically means games with continue functions like Pac-Man Arranged have limited continues, and I suck at some of these games, which could mean I end up with no coins, rendering the game useless.
Still holding out hope for dlc! But also remember all pac man world games have some type of Ms pac man appearance so they’d have to change a lot from them
Its a good collection except for the sound emulation issues with some of the games such as pac man itself AND theres no online multiplayer despite there being 5 multiplayer games. The first pac man museum had pac man battle royale too, and no online, the did not redeem themselves in this area 8 years later.
The arcade setup and unlockable games aspects remind me of both animal ceossing and sonic mega collection. A combo of the two would have blown my mind as a kid. This aint quite that, but i love seeing this kind of a "hub world"

It's easy enough to unlock content in this game that there's no reason to pay double to have it done for you. It's a shame you have to play some of the crap to unlock the good stuff, though.
Pac-Man Arrangement has not been changed from the arcade. There never was Ms Pacman as the second player and the multiplayer has not been removed either.
Jr Pac-Man, Baby Pac-Man and Professor Pac-Man were developed by Bally Midway and the prevailing thought is that Namco never approved the development of these games. Squabbles over royalties followed, Namco has never really acknowledged these games as "true" Pac-Man games, and with Midway's liquidation, who knows who even owns the rights to these games today.
I have no idea why a physical copy of this game is $30 on Switch, while PS4 and Xbox is $20 physical. That makes no sense to me. By the way, this is the only real review of this game on UA-cam.
Thank you for pointing out that 2 player mode in Pac Man arranged has been removed. Pac Man arranged arcade 1:1 was my only reason to buy the compilation.
I have in my possession a Pac-Man table top game. A friend of my father’s had it in his bar 40 years ago. It was once coin operated. You had to sit down to play. Anyway, it’s been collecting dust in my rec room and I was wondering if anyone might know what its value is.
I wish i lived in a world where atgames didnt own ms pacman, then we'd be able to have ms.pacman and pacman jr. Would be neat to have that in this collection, as long with baby pacman pinball. Would be the ultimate collection.
ooh yea... I learned that the hard way when unlocking stuff that you had to actually PLAY the game... granted, what I ended up doing was just dying right away... it's still a bit of a process, but at least the games aren't unlocked by achievements or such

Saw this in stores today and I'm trying to decide on weather to get this on Switch or PS4. The Switch is less than six months old while the PS4 is almost seven years. Which would you recommend?

I guess you could do it online but you need multiple screens for Pac-Man VS (also considering Mario is the Announcer they may need to go by Nintendo to get it out and Nintendo would not let one of their games on Xbox or Playstation)
I played some of Pac-Man games like Pac-Man championship deluxe edition on my PC they are great. Ms. Pac-Man is missing but it's a Pac-Man only collection.
Would love to see a pacman world collection of some sort. Those were some awesome games. Also this game is missing one of my favs, the new adventures of pacman. I understand why since the story uses Ms pacman but it sucks it's not there.
I wanted this just for battle Royale. It hasn't been available on Xbox in a while. Then when playing I realized there was no online play. So a party game when I'm home alone is pointless. Glad this was on game pass & bc I would have bought it day 1.

That is why this collection is a no go for me. All 3 PAC world’s should have been on this collection. I would have gladly paid more for it.

It's best to buy to own. Game Pass is pretty much Xbox's Netflix or Hulu. They have the rights to take it away from you unless you buy.
Just use Game Pass to try games. Not cheat the system and misusing it to avoid buying games. Devs and companies need the money, not just Microsoft.

No tate is a big miss for me ... Saturn Controller and stand is a cool way to play hanheld mode.

I've been playing it on Game Pass. Other Xbox players reported input delay with some of the titles.

Ehhhh, I didn't really notice. My only real problem is the bezel art but they all look really good. Maybe that's just me 🤷

It is but I just pause and unpause it and the music works just fine after that
That also happened to me. Once when I was playing Pac-Land and that happened and the game crashed and it didn’t save my high score

Pac Man arranged arcade 1:1 was my only reason to buy the compilation.
The coin stuff bothers me so bad it’s genuinely annoying to have to USE COINS that you can run out of to play the games
How does no one remember Namco Museum Megamix remix games?

I have in my possession a Pac-Man table top game. A friend of my father’s had it in his bar 40 years ago. It was once coin operated.
You had to sit down to play. Anyway, it’s been collecting dust in my rec room and I was wondering if anyone might know what its value is.
I wish i lived in a world where atgames didnt own ms pacman, then we'd be able to have ms.pacman and pacman jr. Would be neat to have that in this collection, as long with baby pacman pinball. Would be the ultimate collection.
Know we need a mortal kombat collection and I can be happy 😃
ooh yea... I learned that the hard way when unlocking stuff that you had to actually PLAY the game... granted, what I ended up doing was just dying right away... it's still a bit of a process, but at least the games aren't unlocked by achievements or such
I didn't see but is Jr. Pac-Man missing in addition to Baby Pac-Man (which makes sense)
I got the physical Japanese version for $20. I was surprised.
Too bad about the lack of Ms. Pac-Man. I picked it up but haven’t gotten around to playing and didn’t realize it’s not included. Still like the collection for some of the other games.
I'm kindeve interested. I like the whole presentation on this collection but I just don't know if I need more pacman In my life. I've got various versions of pacman already across several different consoles and even my phone.

Why we never see Jr Pacman ever
Saw this in stores today and I'm trying to decide on weather to get this on Switch or PS4. The Switch is less than six months old while the PS4 is almost seven years. Which would you recommend?

Where is PacMan VS? One of the greatest gameplay experiments. Would love to see a modern spin with more levels and options.
I guess you could do it online but you need multiple screens for Pac-Man VS (also considering Mario is the Announcer they may need to go by Nintendo to get it out and Nintendo would not let one of their games on Xbox or Playstation)

I played some of Pac-Man games like Pac-Man championship deluxe edition on my PC they are great. Ms. Pac-Man is missing but it's a Pac-Man only collection.
Why does your UA-cam screen for the game have an 'M' rating on the box? Did it have PacPorn?

Would love to see a pacman world collection of some sort. Those were some awesome games. Also this game is missing one of my favs, the new adventures of pacman. I understand why since the story uses Ms pacman but it sucks it's not there.
I wanted this just for battle Royale. It hasn't been available on Xbox in a while. Then when playing I realized there was no online play. So a party game when I'm home alone is pointless. Glad this was on game pass & bc I would have bought it day 1.
