    I can pull off the backstep 100% of the time in the training room, but end up facing the opposite direction when fighting the monster.

      youtube has slowely become the same as network television with that stuff, intros, long winded and dragged out intros, shitty jokes that no one laughs at. very few can pull it off but it is a breath of fresh air to see someone start a video getting right into it.

    Missing my favorite trick I learned from watching a speedrun: Guard rolling into slinger burst into perfect rush Starting with weapon sheathed. Was the game changer that made me love sns. Trick is needing to hold a direction while holding slinger aim (delayed a bit to not claw uppercut) and timing the slinger mode change/ It should look instant slinger burst at the end of the roll looking like you were in the slinger burst mode in the first place not seeing the switch as sns seems to swap back to normal slinger every time stowed and drawed again.

    I play on type-2 for SnS and I have a slight tip on the timing for getting these turn around back back steps.
    The easiest way to get it consistently during the roll animation (note this is forward roll, side to side roll I am not sure if you can do this) but is to look for when the characters legs begin to hit the ground. The easiest way to get this down is to go into training mode and have the weapon out, and do a roll to the right, flick the stick over to the left and as you see the legs begin to come into the floor (it's your leading foot, for the SnS this is your left foot) to the ground, hit b and you will do a turn around in the opposite direction. This works for ALL directions you can go in as long as you are doing a normal roll and not the weird animation cancel side roll. You can even do a top left roll to a turn around roll to attack the direction you just came from by simply flicking the stick back in into the bottom right. This makes it incredibly consistent to get these kind of crazy dodges and rolls off to set up for a shield bash dive for a stun or a p.Rush.
    Just a little something I noticed today working more with the SnS

  • @Ragnell123
    @Ragnell123 8 місяців тому +2

    Something I just recently found out about the SnS was how to use the slinger burst. I just wish it wasn't so clunky to setup (at least using KnM) cause being able to slinger burst into perfect rush is very fun and doesn't require the normal backstep.

    Quick back stepping from guard. I found it most comfortable to press guard, slash, then the direction is quick succession. This isn’t the only timing I used that works, just the one that I succeeded the most often.

    Just so you know, rising slash from shield to unsheeth, if performed fast enough, does benefit from crit draw.
    Just tested this with 0% affinity and crit draw 3, it will always crit from sheeth to shield + rising slash.
    This does not apply to any hit follow up of backstep from sheeth.

  • @a.trance6997
    @a.trance6997 9 місяців тому

    5:26 just to state what i understood: a claw uppercut will either tenderize if already hit once or add to the tenderize count? Basically this is a shorter animation than actually zipping across with the hook? In this scenario, you save downtime by skipping the tenderize animation then? I was wondering why you had to run.

    • @SKY85sr
      @SKY85sr  9 місяців тому +2

      A claw uppercut does the same tenderize damage as the light weapons' clutch claw attacks, i.e. you can tenderize a part with two claw uppercuts, or a claw uppercut followed by the SnS's clutch claw attack, etc.. Technically, it's faster to reset the clagger animation by firing the clutch claw itself, but it's more optimal to claw uppercut to also deal tenderize damage in the process.
      Also, it's not required to sheath and run, but running makes it easier to reposition yourself to get a better angle to claw uppercut, so you don't latch on to an incorrect body part. If you try to reposition yourself but don't run, you are at risk of not landing the claw uppercut in time before the monster recovers from clagger.

  • @chu--bei5155
    @chu--bei5155 12 днів тому

    Always wonder how people roll while weapon sheath but still able to do the claw. So it's actually guard+roll. Damn the "guard" can be so useful now. I feel so dumb to barely use it. 😂
    Also I agree that that move "guard slash" is so dump. What's dumb about it is that you can't even do any follow moves after that guard slash.

  • @zorro8027
    @zorro8027 9 місяців тому

    Another very important piece of advice (I uploaded footage in my channel though it’s a very short video) is that you can get essentially infinite mount attacks with sword and shield if timed right. Guaranteed tremendous damage on mount. And a KO if you master the timing enough.
    In the video I say my record is 8, but since then my record has gone up to 14 attacks on mount.

    It should also be noted that the guard -> use item is great for running a support build

    • @SKY85sr
      @SKY85sr  9 місяців тому +3

      Not necessarily. You cannot run while using an item in this manner, making it more dangerous. Since the sword & shield's sheathing time is so short, it's usually better to just sheathe first.

    • @joshuadixon8510

      It's more for stopping mid combo to save an ally, rather than running away to save yourself. Usually with this kind of build, you have max speed eating anyways

      There's an audio cue for it if you pay attention in the training area. Sounds like a wind rush of sorts. Character will also slightly glow red. If you're on controller(and your controller supports it), it'll also vibrate with the correct timing to hit the button.
