3 Bealls Holding Corp. /ˈbɛlz/ was an American chain of department stores, owned by Stage Stores Inc. and headquartered in Houston, TX. The store specialized in retailing desirable brand name apparel, accessories, cosmetics, footwear, and housewares.

Beall's also entered the Houston market in the early 1980s by purchasing locations from high end San Antonio based Frost Brothers following their purchase of high end Battelstein's of Houston. Beall's purchased locations that Frost's decided not to open stores at. Palais Royal was based in Houston and, in my opinion, was higher end than Beall's. Palais Royal not only carried the well known name brands but also had their in house labels "PR Limited". Their end of season clearances were known as the "Follies". Palais Royal's tagline in their commercials was "You've got style....Palais Royal.

Bealls Florida is still alive and kicking as evidenced by my monthly CC bill. I don't know if it was a spin off of the original Texas location or not but color schemes, names (including Bealls Outlet and Burkes Outlet) are the same. Any idea if the stores are related?

They are seperate companies but the Florida company bought the stores in Florida that were owned by the Texas company.

Kinda like gordmans and Lord and Taylor the stage stores closed in 2020 as the pandemic was the finale nail in the coffin. Stage stores was kinda like a tj max/marshalls instead of a May.Robinsons/Penny's

Burke's Outlet and Bealls Florida are NOT Bealls Texas. Burke's was a division created by Bealls Florida since the Bealls name was already used by Bealls Texas, a totally unrelated company.
