All of these scumbags keep saying "in the name of Jesus" but never actually have a sermon about Jesus's teachings! I grew up very religious and as I got older, I strayed away from religion and became somewhat agnostic. A couple of years ago I started feeling that maybe I needed to revisit my belief in God and Jesus, so I decided to give it another try because I was feeling very lonely. I wasn't married, I didn't have any children and that I realized that none of my closest friends weren't religious or ever talked about God or Jesus. So, I decided to give it another try but this time going to what I would consider a somewhat unconventional church that was in very contrast to what I attended as child and a teen. I thought maybe I can make some new friends that probably didn't live the type of unhealthy life that I had been living for the last 20 years. So, I ended up attending Potential Church and at first, I found it very comfortable and very different than what I was used to. Everybody seemed very nice and the whole layout was very modern so to speak and it turned out that there were some old high school friends that were attending this same church. After attending for several months, I started to realize that the sermons they would give would never be about Jesus's teachings and I always found it kind of strange. I understand that every sermon shouldn't be about Jesus but how can you omit your sermons of Jesus's teachings? Is he not the one who we should be following? If his words don't carry more weight than anything in the bible, then I don't know what does. Is he not the son of God? Did he not sacrifice his life for all of our sins. Now I don't mean to dilute any of the other scriptures in the bible as I believe they are important as well. However, it always struck me to be a little bit odd that the pastors new all the versus that were not about Jesus and made them seem that you don't know how to properly interpret them, only they somehow knew how to do it but again they never tried to explain to you the teachings of Jesus. The only reason I can surmise after all my experiences is that they don't want to try to explain the teachings of Jesus because they're so simple and don't need much interpretation. And if you actually followed the teachings of Jesus, you would realize that none of these pastors actually live by them. Yes, it's practically impossible to walk in the shoes of Jesus but to not make the even slightest suggestion about how we should be trying to emulate him, and his teachings is all the proof that you need that they don't want you to know and understand the simple life that Jesus lived. He didn't profit financially from his teachings or try to preach a prosperity gospel. They just don't want the average person to realize the amount of money that they're making by you attending their church and whatever donations they accept, which is a lot! How many times do you think that they're stopped at a traffic light and see someone begging for money only to dismiss them as drug addicts, criminals and drunks? Do you think that Jesus would do the same according to his teachings. Jesus's teachings will make you rich not in money but in your faith that you will be rewarded with something far greater than money. Jesus once said, “It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.” Can you imagine a rich person giving up all their belongings and give it to the poor? Neither can any of these rich pastors! The only relationship you need with God or Jesus is your own. You don't have to go to a church to worship God and you definitely don't have to go to a church to have a relationship with God. And just to make things clear, I don't think that the majority of the people that attend Potential church or any other are bad people but just misguided and like me looking for new relationships that lead to new friendships and a closer connection to Jesus and God. However, if you're attending a church for prosperity or for a healing from some type of ailment then you really are lost. May Jesus's beliefs guide you in the right direction.

If your church teaches that Jesus is God, then that’s a lie.
