Another benefit to a shoulder holster like that is that it doubles as suspenders. Kinda nice to hold the pants up rather than pulling them down.

There's a good reason for some folks to consider a shoulder holster besides "nostalgia." I' am older guy with a bit of a pot gut so sometimes it's hard just to keep my pants up without cinching a belt uncomfortably tight. This, and the extra weight of a gun make a belt holster simply too uncomfortable for extended concealed carry. The shoulder holster is much more comfortable to me, and it need not be limited, as everyone thinks, to colder whether when you can wear a jacket. I wear it in the Summer in Texas over my t-shirt and under an untucked (fairly loose, short-sleeve shirt with western style snap buttons. It only take a split second to rip the shirt open and another second to draw. I also think in many cases you can slowly and quietly draw more surreptitiously than you can with a belt holster where you have to untuck your shirt and the gun reach is more obvious. The belt loops that secure the holster and magazine carrier to the belt also serve like suspenders so I don't have to wear a belt uncomfortably tight.

I also have a big pot belly. I use Perry belt suspenders along with a Wilderness Tactical gun belt under a loose-fit untucked shirt. I usually carry strong-side in a kydex OWB holster. This system conceals well and works well for me in most situations. However, There are situations where you can't beat a good shoulder rig, such as those lazy weekend days when I simply want to dress more comfortably in sweat pants or gym shorts. They're also great for situations where I'm sitting for long periods of time, on a long drive, or fishing in my kayak.

It seems that every serious gunner likes the 81! Love it! That holster is incredible!

I've owned this holster for years! Got it for my HK VP9sk. I love it! I enjoy wearing it to restaurants, movie theaters and driving long distance etc. Very concealable, even under a light button-down shirt. I no longer try to be "fast" on the draw with it per se. That means that your situational awareness was low. As long as you are paying attention to your surrounding, you can actually unhook the retention strap to give you quick accessibility along with that rotation to get your piece. Back in the day, my tv hero was "Shaft." He wore a shoulder holster and then Martin Lawrence and Will Smith rocked those shoulder holsters in the movie "Bad Boys."

I have a roto coming in for my CZ75 compact. I specifically chose a shoulder holster due to daily riding my motorcycles, and it would fit incredibly well under my jackets.

That shoulder holster definitely looks like a great option for the Beretta 81. I'm definitely going to look further into purchasing one. Shoulder carry is a great option for cooler weather.

I have 2 primary carry guns Glock 29, FNS9c, both in shoulder holsters from Craft Holsters. I have 1 secondary carry sig P365 pocket carry. When I train with my shoulder holsters I don't focus on speed as much as I do fluid motion, without making big abbreviated movements. This allow me to naturally get faster as I train. The truth is, if a bad guy has a gun pointed at you it doesn't matter how fast you can pull your weapon, his finger can move faster. Sometimes the best ting to do is throw your hands up and act like you don't have a gun at all... until it becomes your turn. I also train for a charging bad guy buy by throwing my left hand up anticipating contact (punch, stabbing, clubbing) making ready to shoot with my pistol close to right side to allow a clearer shot. This can be dangerous due to possibly shoot my hand so I don't actually fire live ammo in this type of training. Having said all of that, the key to being ready in the event you have to use your weapons' is to train regularly and often. I suggest weekly or a couple times a month at least.

Shoulder holsters rock when you need a gun in your hand while you are sitting down. Sitting down in a vehicle or a booth at a diner is a really difficult draw for an IWB, OWB or appendix holster. Also, who says you can only carry ONE gun? I carry two. I carry a SIG P-239 9mm in a shoulder rig AND a Colt Detective .38 in an OWB right side hip holster. Standing I can draw the Colt revolver quickest. Sitting, the SIG in the shoulder holster is fastest.

As with any new system that you incorporate onto your weapon, practicing the draw is essential to making your everyday carry worth carrying. I like the innovative roto features of that holster, and it allows for a more horizontal draw, which is optimally beneficial for ease, and speed. I’m definitely gonna consider this set up for my Kimber cdp II.....Thanks for posting the review brotha 😎🙏🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸👍Happy Shooting 👍

Great holster. I just got one recently, except it’s for my Smith and Wesson revolver. If it’s a revolver it comes with speed loader pouches. I got this as an alternative to my IWB holster for colder days. There are more expensive ones on the market but this one is fit my pocket book the best and I knew it would feel comfortable. The other feature that drew me to this holster is the Roto feature, and wow that makes everything so much easier. While I can’t wear it all year around, it’s a great alternative for colder days.

great review since I’m looking for a reliable shoulder holster as another option to carry beside my Inside & outside the waist holsters also because I suffer from stomach ulcers have had stomach surgery so some days i’m dealing with bad stomach pains or bloating & believe it or not even though I never ever leave without my EDC it’s just uncomfortable some days & from trying a buddies shoulder holster I absolutely love how it’s away from my stomach on those days where even a seat belt bothers me.

If been thinking about shoulder carry due to lower back problems I’m finding 3:00 carry more of a problem and appendix carry scars the hell out of my little buddy. Subscribed

If you have a job where you are driving, or are seated a lot, shoulder holsters are very comfortable choices. You are right, though, about the draw. It always takes longer to engage from a shoulder holster than a belt holster.

Looking at this for my Kimber R7. Looking at shoulder for motorcycle carry. Will be concealed under a cut (Vest). Tried CC Vests but in the vest it is heavy and prints. Under my large vest this won't show at all and still be right there to get to. My usual ankle holster is uncomfortable on motorcycle. I highly recommend USCCA insurance for peace of mind and getting Concealed Carry Licence for your State even if it isn't mandated. The training and law enforcement stamp of approval is beneficial in many ways.

Shoulder holster outdated!??!!?!?! It's the most comfortable thing ever and I don't prefer a gun nudging my junk all day. Seems like everyone I know that carries iwb or aiwb, the first thing they do when they get indoors is take it off asap and throw it in a drawer or on the counter.

In your opinion, do you think this shoulder holster would be a good solution for concealing a full sized pistol? I have a Bersa Thunder 40 that I like a lot, but it is so large that anywhere I put it on my waist I print badly. I would much rather buy a new holster for it to be able to concealed carry it rather than having to buy a whole new pistol (althought I did find an M&P Shield I like a lot).
The Bersa thunder 40 is roughly the same size as a beretta 92 just for reference.

It really depends on how thick your chest is. If your a slim guy it might be hard. It could work just make sure to get a vertical style not a horizontal.
