With the Temple destroyed, the prohibition on pronouncing The Name outside of it caused pronunciation of the Name to fall into disuse. Scholars passed down knowledge of the correct pronunciation of YHVH for many generations, but eventually the correct pronunciation was lost, and we no longer know it with any certainty. We do not know what vowels were used, or even whether the Vav in the Name was a vowel or a consonant. See Hebrew Alphabet for more information about the difficulties in pronouncing Hebrew. *Some religious scholars suggest that the Name was pronounced "Yahweh", but others do not find this pronunciation particularly persuasive; our opinion is that this pronunciation is quite insulting to God and expresses more the man-centered ignorance of the scholars than the true name of God (in other words, never say "Yahweh", unless you intend to insult Him, God forbid!).*

    Hello.
I am an Orthodox Christian from Greece and although the video is very informative from the muslim perspective, I have a comment about the name of God from an Orthodox Christian perspective.
For the Orthodox Christians ( and Christians and Jews in general), the name YHWH is the personal name of God and it has revealed it as such in Moses but also God referred to it or alluded to it throughout the Bible.
In the Orthodox tradition we use the Septuagint version of the name ( Ο ΩΝ ) and it's used ONLY to identify God. In every icon ( or almost every icon) of Jesus, there is a crucifix inside His halo and inside there are the letters Ο ΩΝ, to signify that Jesus of Nazareth is the God that revealed Himself and His Name to Moses from the burning bush.
Because Christianity is trinitarian in nature, with God being One Being in 3 persons (the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit), the name (YHWH, ΩΝ) belongs to all 3 persons equally.

The real pronounciation of "YHWH" is not known. "Yahweh" is just guessing. Compared to that name, "Allah" is clearly the name The Creator has told humanity to call Him. No gambling. No guessing.

Here's a different perspective nearly all of you most likely did not know before.
Jesus Christ the Messiah (peace be upon him) was taken to Heaven by Lord/God/TheCreator because some wanted him dead, so God saved him (be patient, continue reading, you will see ''the matrix'', upto you to escape it). (extensive detail in folder 3 in my playlists)
The word christ comes from the Greek word 'christos' meaning chosen/annointed (annointment is the act of chosing)
the word messiah comes from the Arabic/Hebrew word 'messiach', again meaning chosen.
Jesus did not speak Greek or Arabic or Hebrew, he spoke Aramaic.
      John 14:28
“I go to the Father, for the Father is greater than I”
      John 20:17
'‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’”
      John 5:30
"I cannot do anything on my own."
      Mark 10:18
''Why do you call me good? No one is good, except God alone.''
(that ''father'' does not mean flesh and bone father, rather TheGuide/God,
worship TheCreator/TheGuide/TheGod and not the prophets, peace be upon them all)
      So, Who chose Jesus?
      TheCreator/TheGod/TheLord did.
      To do what?
To convey that there is TheCreator/TheGod/TheLord and only ThatSupreme power should be worshipped and prayed to and NO idols/conjured up god/s by human kind,
be it a man, a spirit of a man, a sun, a star, a moon, a tree, an animal etc etc be worshipped in any way.
Anything that is worshipped besides TheGod is a god, that is false god, hence with a small ''g''.
There is one Creator, hence why TheGod, the only One deserving of worship.
What does Allah mean as a word?
      It means TheCreator/TheGod/TheLord.
What does ''elaah'' mean as a word?
It means any idol or conjured up god or gods that are false and do not deserve worship of any kind, hence why Islam rejects all gods but TheGod/TheCreator/TheLord/Allah.
Why are all religions in opposition of Islam?
Because they have a god or many gods but TheGod that is worshipped in someway or another.
Have you ever read a Quran from start to finish?
That you can answer for your self.
(I recommend the Sahih International english translation, it's good).
      Best wishes.
      -------------------------------
      .....btw.....
Jesus did preach to worship the OneGod/TheCreator and not anything else, and so did his followers, peace be upon them all.
This unsettled the Roman Empire because this idea of Monotheism went against their pagan beliefs where the emperor was both emperor and god. They persecuted the followers of Jesus and even attempted to kill Jesus, even a Roman Empire servant Saul of Tarsus was out to kill Jesus.
Saul never managed to meet Jesus in real life but after Jesus was taken up to Heaven Saul said he saw a dream and said he will now preach the teachings of Jesus. Saul of Tarsus is also known in todays christianity as Saint Paul, so todays christians are actually on the teaching of ''Saint'' Paul which brings in trinity and godhead figure of Jesus and rejects Monotheism.
-Jesus was commanded to preach Monotheism, which he did and early followers were Monotheistic (Islamic) believing people, which later changed with the Roman Empires paganism spreading
-Jesus was commanded to preach ONLY to the Israelites, which he did, but after him Saul of Tarsus aka ''saint Paul'' started to preach to the Gentiles, which is the foundation of todays christiandom.
-Jesus was commanded to rule for the circumsicion which he did, but it was taken out after he left
-Roman Empire in 325 AD held a council, with empire alligned 'scholars'' to decide and VOTE on whether Jesus was to be worshipped or not, they VOTED that Jesus be accepted as god (in aliagn with the pagan beliefs of the Roman traditions) and ever since the trinity became the 'christian way' (not what Jesus preached), and sinc that time the Church has chronicled how many times the ''Bible'' has been changed, verses removed and verses added to SUIT this altered idea of trinity!
Best wishes, life is short. ;)

The revelation of the Name is not obscure, the record is clear, what is obscure is the pronunciation of the Name, and there are different theories about it. Biblical scholars developed a whole branch of research when it comes to God's names in the Torah/Tawat. Alleluyah also appears in the Psalms.

Only in the injeel/ new testament. Not in torat.
The bible is for MANY religions, as a muslim it is easy to forget that, being the quran is exclusive to Muslims.
Jews believe in yahweh and deny him having a son. Your line of thinking only works when a God is only worshipped by ONE people with ONE definitive theology. Islam professes the God of the Bible. To deny yahweh is to deny Musa pbuh. Allah in the quran recognizes Musa as a prophet. You want the legitimacy that comes with a 4000 year old tradition while denying the God of that tradition because of what it's modern followers believe about him ? Ilyas in the quran his hebrew name was eli-yahu which means my "God is yahuweh." Hate comes from ignorance, Muslims who shame the bible too much debase the traditions on which the Deen is founded. Christians who hate Muslims know nothing about islam. The ummah is so disconnected from foundation of its Deen that it unknowingly attacks it

Here's knowledge nearly all of you most likely did not know before.
The word 'christ' comes from the Greek word 'christos' meaning chosen/annointed (annointment is the act of chosing)
the word 'messiah' comes from the Arabic/Hebrew word 'messiach', again meaning chosen.
      So, Who chose Jesus?
      TheCreator/TheGod/TheLord did.
      To do what?
To convey that there is TheCreator/TheGod/TheLord and only ThatSupreme power should be worshipped and prayed to and NO idols/conjured up god/s by,
be it a man, a spirit of a man, a sun, a star, a moon, a tree, an animal etc etc be worshipped in any way.
Anything that is worshipped besides TheGod is a god, that is, it is a false god, hence with a small ''g''.
There is one Creator, hence why TheGod, the only One deserving of worship.
Jesus did not speak Greek or Arabic or Hebrew, he spoke Aramaic, and from translation into translation into translation, we can see that he worshipped TheGod.
      John 20:17
'‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father,
to my God and your God.’”
      Mark 10:18
''Why do you call me good?
No one is good, except God alone.''
      John 5:30
"I cannot do anything on my own."
      John 14:28
      “I go to the Father,
for the Father is greater than I”
(that ''father'' does not mean flesh and bone father, rather TheGuide/God,
look at John 20:17, are you also the flesh and bone son of God? pls think!
worship TheCreator/TheGuide/TheGod and not the prophets, peace be upon them all)
What does Allah mean as a word?
      It means TheCreator/TheGod/TheLord.
What does ''elaah'' mean as a word?
It means any idol or conjured up god (elaaha is the plural of that)
they are false and do not deserve worship of any kind, hence why Islam rejects all gods, worshipping anything including the prophets, because worship is solely is to be done to TheGod/TheCreator/TheLord/Allah, which is the trial of this life on earth, to worship only your Creator without equals or partners.
Why are all religions in opposition of Islam?
Because they have a god or many gods, because they worship creatures of TheGod in someway, prophets, saints, angels, sun, star, moon, animal, tree, by offering them things, making prayers to the (FOR THEM is different, TO THEM is different, 'to them' means you think they have the power to respond/accept that act), or they worship their dead loved ones, the spirit of their loved ones etc etc, all of which the Devil wants done so people ruin their direct worshipping TheGod, the Devil loves that you go astray like that.
Best wishes, life is short. ;)

I believe that for the sake of communication I guess we as MUSLIMs can use "YHWH" in reference to God. As it is used for Him in the former scriptures but inside prayers and supplications i guess islam with its Arabic provided us Name for God that has similar and cognitive relationship with YHWH of Hebrew through Aramaic into Arabic and that is : "al-hayyul qayyum" الحيُّ القَيُّوم (the ever-living, self existing) one of the greatest names of Allah. But for me personally i prefer calling Him "Allah" الله as it is His proper name in the Quran and it is the perfect name that enconompasses all Divine attributes.

The Jews say only HASHEM they don't say very often YHWH .Yahweh is a wrong pronunciation of YHWH Jews don't pronounce like YahwehALLAH spoke to prophet Moses Aleyhiselam in Hebrew not in Arabic . Again what is the meaning of YHWH only ALLAH knows. Saying that ALLAH of the Quran is not YHWH of the Torah and the Tanakh makes the things very different it means we are not worshipping the same true God which did all miracles through prophet Moses Aleyhiselam and prophet Jesus the Messiah and who spoke to Moses and Jesus .

No Yahweh no Jesus/Hail zeus those are false names ,In the polytheistic beliefs of the Hebrews, El Elyon was the chief and Yahweh was one of 70 sons of this god. The dead sea scroll discovery of the old testament confirms this without dispute. in Deuteronomy 32:8 talks about the Most high god, (El Elyon) dividing the nations according to the number of his sons.
In Qumran version of Deuteronomy 32:8-9, El Elyon divides the world up into different nations, one for each of his sons. Yahweh gets Israel, while the other gods get the other nations.

    Dear Muslims!
Before you say Allah is the same God Jesus worshipped because he spoke Aramaic
In Aramaic, the language Jesus likely spoke, the word for God is "Alaha" or "Eloi" (as seen in Mark 15:34: "Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?"). This is a Semitic term, closely related to the Hebrew word "Elohim" (used in the Old Testament).
"Allah" is the Arabic term for God. While "Alaha" and "Allah" share linguistic roots as Semitic terms, this does not imply theological equivalence or shared worship. Different cultures and religions often use similar words for "God" without them signifying identical concepts.
The Arabic word "Allah" predates Islam and was used by Arab Christians and pagans to refer to their own understanding of God. However, Arab Christians used "Allah" within the framework of Trinitarian theology, while pagans used it in a polytheistic sense.
Jesus lived in a Jewish context, adhering to Jewish traditions and the God of the Hebrew Scriptures. He affirmed the Shema ("Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one"; Deuteronomy 6:4), which is foundational to Jewish monotheism.
    Jesus’ Relationship with God
Jesus referred to God as "Abba" (Aramaic for "Father"; Mark 14:36), emphasizing an intimate, personal relationship. This is distinct from the Islamic understanding of Allah, who is not described in personal or familial terms.
The Gospel accounts consistently present Jesus praying to and addressing God as the Father, aligning with the Christian understanding of God rather than the Islamic concept of Allah.
And not just that but God himself called Jesus God
    Hebrews 1:8
"But about the Son he says, 'Your throne, O God, will last forever and ever; a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom.'"
In this passage, God the Father speaks of the Son (Jesus) and explicitly refers to Him as "O God." This is a direct acknowledgment of Jesus' divinity.
    2. John 1:1
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."
While this verse is not God the Father speaking, it explicitly declares Jesus (the Word) as God. Later in John 1:14, it clarifies that the Word became flesh (Jesus).
    3. Matthew 3:17 / Luke 3:22
"And a voice from heaven said, 'This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.'" (Matthew 3:17)
Though not an explicit declaration of Jesus as "God," this shows the Father's affirmation of Jesus' divine sonship. In the Jewish context, claiming to be God's Son was understood as equating oneself with God (John 5:18).
    4. Matthew 17:5
"While he was still speaking, a bright cloud covered them, and a voice from the cloud said, 'This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him!'"
During the Transfiguration, God the Father reaffirms Jesus as His Son, commanding people to "listen to Him," emphasizing Jesus' divine authority.
    Philippians 2:9-11
"Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."
Although this is not a direct statement from the Father, it demonstrates the Father's role in exalting Jesus and affirming His divinity as Lord.
    6. John 10:30
"I and the Father are one."
Jesus declares His unity with the Father, and while the Father does not speak directly here, this statement aligns with the overall affirmation of Jesus' divinity in Scripture.
    7. Isaiah 9:6 (Prophetic Confirmation)
"For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."
While this is a prophecy, it shows God's intent to reveal the Son as "Mighty God," affirming Jesus' divinity from a Trinitarian perspective.
This proves that the God of the bible or the Torah is not the same as Allah from Islam Muhammad’s created god

Gary Cryder Muslims, Jews, and Jesus all worship the same God, referred to as Allah in Islam. They believe in the oneness of God. In contrast, Christians believe in a Trinity-Father, Son, and Holy Spirit-which they view as one God. However, Muslims and Jews argue that it is inconsistent to divide God's essence into multiple parts, as this diminishes His majesty. This distinction suggests that the Christian understanding of God differs from that of Muslims and Jews.
To support this perspective, both the Quran and the Bible emphasize the oneness of God. For instance, the Quran states, "Say, 'He is Allah, [who is] One'" (Quran 112:1), affirming the singular nature of God. Similarly, in the Bible, Deuteronomy 6:4 declares, "Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one." These verses underscore the belief in a single, indivisible God shared by Muslims and Jews, BUT NOT with the Christian interpretation of the GOD.🤔🤔🤔🤔

In the Quran Mohammed says again: “I have been commanded to serve the Lord of this city which he has made sacred …” (Qur’an 27:91).
Who is "the lord of this city" which Mohammed was commanded to serve and worship? Which city was that?
From here you see clearly that The ‘lord of this city’ is the territorial god of the city of Mecca, and not the Almighty God of the universe. Many cities had their own gods which the inhabitants worship. It is the same thing today. Many of our cities have their chief gods. Nobody claims that they are almighty God. Mohammed's father and grandfather were not Muslims. Were they? No. They were idol worshippers, worshipping "the lord of this city". That is why his father who was dedicated by his own father to "the lord of the city" was named "Abdullah". That means "servant or slave of Allah". He wasn't a Muslim, but serving and worshipping "the lord of this city ".
It was later when Mohammed began to have contacts with Jews and Christians during his business trips that he began to put some of the attributes of the Jewish God upon the territorial god of Mecca. So, many of the attributes the writer here is talking about which have been given to Allah are not original. They were taken from the Jewish concept of God.

In the Quran, Mohammed says he was commanded to “….worship the Lord of this house“(Ka’ba shrine)” (Quran 106:3). Authentic history says Kabba was never a worship centre of the Almighty God. The claim of Muslims that Kaaba was built by Abraham to worship Yahweh has no historical basis. Abraham never lived in Mecca. Ishmael was not an Arab man or father of Arabs. His father (Abraham) was a Hebrew and his mother an African from Egypt. Egyptians were not Arabs at the time of Abraham. Arabs conquered Egypt after the death of Mohammed in the mid 7th century. So, how would Ishmael be an Arab or father of Arabs? Descendants of Ishmael were called Ishmaelites.

My understanding from watching Mythvision podcast is that El was the father god of 70 deities for the early Hebrews who were heavily influenced by paganism as they were some of the first monotheists, and yahweh was one of those 70 deities upon whom the Hebrews focused. The source God El is related to Elahi in Aramaic and Allah in Arabic. So using Yahweh wouldn't be appropriate even though Christians tend to substitute Yahweh when they probably mean El, they don't realise what it refers to, so the intention matters more.

    • @theonlyway5298
      @theonlyway5298 8 місяців тому

I think you've been misled there. El and Elohim, is simply the singular and plural nouns for 'DEITY'. Its like the English 'god' or 'gods' which can refer to any deity out of the thousands known historically.
These are called 'Common Nouns' because they are not names - but simply a generic term for deities.
So 'El' is not a particular god.
Mythvision is an interesting channel, but as its name suggests, it deals in myths and propagates them! So I wouldn't place too much significance to some of the things said on there, even though I have also found some interesting things on there, particularly the more recent critical research into the origins of Islam.
Eloh and El in Aramaic are simply the same Common Nouns which mean deity - god, gods.....but they are not names. So this is where they are not related to Allah because Allah is a Proper Noun of the Arabic god of Muslims.
No, Christians do not "substitute Yahweh when they mean El" - these are two different things!! They are not synonymous. YHWH is the Divine Name which can never be changed according to God (see Exodus 3:15 in a Hebrew Bible), but El simply means a deity...any deity....so it could mean Bhudda or Shiva etc or Moloch...any god! El, Elohim, Eloh, Elahi, are all Common Nouns as they are not names.

I also heard some of that, but i think it's nonsense.
They assume the worst always, with no evidence practically.
They talk as if we didn't know pagans had associated to God other gods and made him smaller and lied about him.
Sure you have the right to assume whatever you want, but keep your assumptions as assumptions, not as facts...
We at least have a book, with has proofs of its own, claiming a narrative, your narrative comes ONLY from your personal assumption...
So even if we were wrong, still you are not better in assumption...
Also, funny enough, i read an article claiming YHWH comes from the arabic HW.
But guess what, HW is in the Quran, HW Allahu ahad.
      HuWa means "He is"
But no, mythicists assume the worst, they assume it's Hawa, like desires or passion...
See? They will always be biased towards denial.
Just as some are biased to the opposite to defend their sect.
No, it's almost disturbing that you don't realize these are biased, and believe they are objective xD.
Or are you a muslim? if so brother the same i say to you, don't assume they are objective, because they truly aren't. And we can't take hadiths, narratives from random people as true.
      Peace either way.
(Also, the pagans accused Muhammad of combining their gods into one, let's not forget that many pagans actually worship atributes of God, like they have gods called "the creator" "the wise" "the destructor", so let us remember that before we assume a "pagan" god to be a demon or a manmade name because it may only be an atribute of God, like saying he is the one who is, or "HeIs" HuWa, YaHuWaH)

The Baal cycle i.e the Ugaritic texts that were found, show that the pagans deemed Yw to be the brother of Baal and whose name was changed into Yam.
      _Yw in the Baal Cycle_
Those who understand Arabic can make sense of this semitic transliteration of the Ugaritic language.
      From KTU II:IV:13-14
      Sm bny yw 'ilt
My son [shall not be called] by the name of Yw, o goddess
      wp'r sm ym
So he proclaimed the name of Yammu
      Johannes C. De Moor says:
"Who is this god Yw who would take over Baal's mountain with help of his father El? _In my opinion, he is none other than YHWH._ Formerly, I rejected this identification, like most of my esteemed colleagues. _But in view of a number of new data I have revised my opinion on this issue..."_
[Congress Volume, Paris 1992: by John Adney Emerton p. 220]
Norman Cohn mentions how scholars suspected that the Ugaritic Yaw might be the prototype for Yahweh:
"It is becoming ever more difficult to say with any confidence when, where and how the Israelites first came to know the god Yahweh. It may be that, as Exodus says, he was originally a Midianite god, introduced into the land of Canaan by immigrants from Egypt; or he may have started as a minor member of the Canaanite pantheon... _Originally El was the supreme god for Israelites as he had always been for Canaanites._ Even if one discounts the pronouncement of El in the Baal cycle: _'The name of my son is Yaw'_ - the import of which is still being debated - one cannot ignore a passage in the Bible which shows Yahweh as subordinate to El. Deuteronomy 32:8 tells how when El Elyon, i.e., El the Most High, parcelled out the nations between his sons, Yahweh received Israel as his portion."
[p.131-132. "Yahweh and the Jerusalem Monarchy." Norman Cohn. Cosmos, Chaos and the World to Come, The Ancient Roots of Apocalyptic Faith. New Haven and London. Yale University Press. 1993]
Know that El or Il was the word used by all semitic people in reference to Allah ﷻ. Just like we say God today. Similarly, the christians say that Jesus is God's son, then that doesn't render their claims that Yw (Yam) or Baal were the sons of El anymore than the claim of christians saying God had a son today.

Other the words there are big differences. Allah is cursing, insulting jews all along Quran, though they're disobedient. YAHWEH names jews "my people" even when they are disobedients. Stop taqqya.

    Allah translated from Elohim.
Genesis 1 In the Beginning Elohim created the Heavens and the earth. And When Elohim said, Light Become! Or literally, Light Be! (Sura 4:171 A Word Spoken at a Command) Elohim became Yahweh. Genesis 2:4 And His Words became The Light of the world. John 8:12 The Bright Morning Star. Revelation 22:16 The First Words of Elohim became The First Born of All Creation. Colossians 1:15: The Holy Spirit. Sura 4:171 And Directed to Mary.
The Holy Spirit overshadowed Mary and she conceived the Word: emmanuel; God with us.
The Word became flesh and they named Him Yeshua or Yahshua. (I use Jesus because I was set free from alcoholism when I prayed to God in the name of Jesus Christ amen. I prefer to say Christ Jesus our Lord today.)
    Same God. Different Religion.
Believe in your heart that God: Yahweh, raised Yeshua, Jesus, Yasu from the dead And Confess Jesus or Yasu as Lord and you will be saved. (from the lake of fire) Romans 10:9
    1st Corinthians 14:1
Pursue Love (Galatians 5:22,23) and desire spiritual gifts (1st Corinthians 12-14 & Romans 8:26) especially that you might prophesy.
May God's will be done in the name of His Son Jesus our Lord and Messiah amen.
