It’s not impossible to produce drugs from dried poppies. All you need to do is grind the pods and steep them in a slightly acidic solution for several days. Then collect all the liquid and reduce the volume under a low heat with a fan blowing over the liquid to assist evaporation. When done add slaked lime to precipitate the calcium morpenate and then follow the rest of the process which I will not write here. Sadly the prohibition has just made the environment ripe for synthetics and now we have issues with over 2 dozen different fentanyl analogies which are way more toxic and dangerous. Almost all overdose deaths from opium, morphine and heroin are due to combination with alcohol, benzodiazepines or other CNS depressants but fe Tanya and it’s analogues will easily kill if the dose is marginally too high.

That is good but I believe you are overthinking it. All that is required is warm water and a ground up dried stem or straw from the poppy. You drink it.

Definitely specially my favorite the indian/Nepal variety that's purple mainly and also pink, and also highest in medical alkaloids.
Although I'll also day the red with black center variety is very pretty too in its own unique way. But I love the Indian/Asian variety.
Agree the flowers are beautiful and bees love them, I don’t need or want the illegal by-product, in all honesty I don’t know how the seeds got in my garden, unless some smart Alec scattered the seeds and I’m inadvertently is growing them for him… ?

If it grows the governments shouldnt be able to tell anyone shit. Informing people of risk sure, jailing people that are trying to seek relief from whatever their pain is mental or physical shouldnt be a crime. Educating for responsbile use is all the givernment should worry about.

IT should be legalized & taxed & the tax dollars should be used for recovery clinics, some sort of therapy treatment & what ever good programs can be funded & then a after focusing on that on roads, schools, hospitals, public transportation & anything else we can think of & all addicts should be registered so that we know & can some what monitor how ever possible in a system. If opiates like heroin where easily available there would be so many more benefits then cons like for example since it would be legal the heroin process would have standards much like the marijuana industry & therefore much cleaner product vs the dirty shit they got around today, there would be a huge decline in diseases contracted from needles because like in other countries like Canada where it’s they clinics that provide clean needles & a professional medic to shoot you up & you would essentially wipe out organized crime so therefore eliminate all the bullshit that comes with cartels & organizations like that it’s mind blowing the general public DOESNT realize this is the correct path it’s a clear & cut case there is no victory in the war on drugs it just created crime just like how the prohibition created gangsters like al Capone people are going to get high wether you like it or not people are going to get there fix at any cost that’s why there is so much violence so much crime if a addict could get there drug easily there would be a drastic reduction in all those serious issues in the modern world. I hate how America puts blame every where, but where it should. How about the blame going to the person whom uses drugs. They chose to use, they chose to abuse, they chose not to stop, they chose to overdose, and they chose to die from their choices. I'm not saying it's not sad, but they are in charge of their life. I do grow my own poppies. As the US government, in their infinite wisdom, tries to limit prescriptions, growing my own is the only sure way to have a reliable analgesic source. Just be cautious.

Anything you want to grow/cultivate for your own personal use/consumption should be 100% legal. Its sad that in a "free country" you can not. If you had a field growing Hemlock the authorities would not care, if in most states you have a few flower pots with a marijuana plant, you're going to jail. If you have a flower garden with opium poppy and someone actually notices, and knows what it is, you're going to jail.

I recall my mother having some of these beautiful plants in front of our home when I was growing up and one day they simply disappeared-all of them!!! Someone stole them right from our porch.
Do you know that you can buy opium poppy from Home Depot? You can also plant them in your yard. It only becomes illegal if you extract the sap and make heroin. Fun fact.

@@sandman4thewoke121 - I grow my own in Houston, Texas. True - poppies do not tolerate our summer heat. I plant mine in late October. By mid March or so, they are ready to harvest. They are a winter crop.

The USA is the biggest producer of poppy plants/ heroin in the world. First they did it in the Golden Triangle, then they moves to the golden Crescent, this is well documented. Ok, Afghanistan is now apparently the leading producer? Makes sense, considering the US occupied it too.

Huh...so the pharmaceutical companies receive dried, dead bulbs? That doesn't sound very efficient. Doesn't most of the active stuff oxidize out when the bulbs start to wane? Thought you wanted the latex, not the seed pod.
Its more hard extracting the latex and is prohibid do it in Turkey, the 500kg of poppy straw you get 1kg of morphine so make the math, is a lot of morphine if produce more than 65 tons per year

You can easily buy them on Ebay and quite cheap. It's not illegal
to buy or sell poppy seeds in North America, and it's perfectly
legal to grow poppies -- it's just not legal to lance them to get
the Opium out. If you don't lance ( cut) the poppy pod, all is OK.
There are other ways of extracting the Opium out without lancing.
Tons of good Opium producing poppy seeds for sale on Ebay from
Canada, and the USA. Just talked to a couple of nurseries.
