I’m from Baghdad as well, came from shia background (jafari) whom my family follows al-sistani, but Al-Hamdulillah Allah guided me to the straight path, Quran, Sunnah and tawheed.
Yes very common although since the Americans came and gave power to the Shia they are suppressed. Half of Iraqi Arabs are Sunni mostly in the north and west and around Baghdad. Iraqi Kurdistan are almost all Sunni which is a country within a country.

It’s not permissible to specify one of the family of the prophet, صلى الله عليه وسلم with a greeting such as “ peace be upon him/her” because that will lead to exaggeration. It’s better to say , may Allah be pleased with him/her to all companions and the family of the prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم .
Al-Mansur was not a Sunni or a Shia. The Abbasids were allies and enemies of both as it suited them. He wiped out the Sunni Umayyads. His leading commander was a Shia and then he murdered him because he was afraid the Shia would overthrow him. He persecuted several Imams of the Sunni Madhabs as would his descendants. The Abbassids were in my estimation Mutazila from the beginning.
